| 1.5 year old iPad pro keeps rebooting, does anyone know what's wrong with it? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 06:44 AM PDT My 1.5 year old iPad pro (9.7 in, 32gb) keeps rebooting! The screen would go black for a second, the Apple logo screen would come on, and it restarts. Sometimes it'll go for an hour without restarting, but one way or another it will restart randomly. Under the instructions of Apple Support chat, I restored the iPad to a back up before the recent update but it didn't help. During diagnostics conducted by Apple Support chat person, they said the iPad seems to be fine on their end. I restored it to factory settings and after a day of working just fine, the iPad started rebooting again. One time, the screen went black, static lines started populating the screen like TVs would in scary movies, and then it rebooted again. That was a bit of a wtf? No, I have not dropped it, get it wet, or anything like that. There are no faulty apps because it's on factory settings and all I've been using it since I reseted it to factory settings is Safari. Has anyone have this problem? What have you guys done/tried? I would bring it in for repair, but according to Apple support, out of warranty repair from Apple will cost me $379 and I just can't afford that right now so I'm looking for advice on the internet. Does anyone think it's a battery problem because a battery replacement will cost $99 and that's cheaper? lol. Thanks! TL;DR: out of warranty 1.5 year old iPad keeps rebooting, even on factory settings. Posted: 09 Aug 2018 11:16 AM PDT I have a LOT of notes (med-school) and things are getting a bit out of hand with only two hierarchical levels of organization. Any recommendations? Edit: Thanks, everyone! It doesn't appear that Notabilty has any built in hierarchy beyond Divider>Subject, so I'll just keep doing what I've been doing previously and submit a suggestion to them in hopes it'll be implemented in the future! Posted: 09 Aug 2018 06:39 AM PDT I am going to buy a 10.5 now and a 12.9 when the new version is released (I unfortounatley inherited some money, and as an architectural student I want a device for portability, but also a larger device for my desk). I heard some rumors that a new Apple Pencil will come out soon, possibly with the release of the new Ipad pros later this year. I haven't had an Apple product since 2011 but I tried the iPad at a store and loved it, screen is awesome, is snappy and it's SUPER polished and a great experience. I was considering getting one in the near future to use as my main computer. I'm pretty much a basic user, I don't know how to code, I don't edit 4k videos and in terms of image editing it's pretty simple. I want something that's decent for typing but if that's asking too much of iPad keyboard covers then I can just get out my thinkpad. What I plan to be doing with it is Browse the web Watch videos Listen to music Play app store games Chat Write stories for fun Edit images I have taken with my Android phone What's a good but affordable keyboard cover for the iPad? I'd love to automate this process by creating a shortcut that will give me the full outline. Native keyboard shortcut: I need to write out long templates, the native shortcuts are best to expand to a full word or sentence. Text Expander (the app): I don't use these phrases often enough and I don't need a huge library of phrases. I'm sure this is a good app, but it's too much for what I need. I've been browsing Amazon for a while and I think I've narrowed it down to these specs: minimum 32 gb, preferably 64, with the 9.7" screen if possible. I'm hoping to keep the cost including a screen protector and hopefully a keyboard case around 400 or less. I'd love to buy a new older model, I've seen some 2017 models for 325, or so, but am also wondering about the certified refurbished models out there.
