LED won't light up, I think it's bricked. I still have a 2nd Gen still ticking (slow as heck though) and a 3rd Gen I'll have to use now but man going back to these is terrible. Lol Can we confirm that it's a brick now? Anything else I should try? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 11 Aug 2018 07:51 PM PDT Not sure if this is the subreddit for this but basically my Apple Music wasn't letting me download songs, so I googled ways to fix the issue and none of them worked. The last one I tried said to delete the music app and redownload it but now everytime I try to redownload it a little grey spinning circle shows up for a few seconds and then a window pops up saying "unable to download music". Idk what to do to fix this so any suggestions would be appreciated [link] [comments]  |

| Very concerned right now about my MacBook Pro after visiting a website Posted: 11 Aug 2018 09:35 PM PDT So I was google searching some stuff about a show I watch and I accidentally clicked on a website. Upon entering the website, a pop up appeared that looked like the print prompt for a random document unrelated to the website. Then after attempting to close the prompt, my MacBook started to emit a high pitch and all of a sudden a shit ton of random things started to download onto my computer. I immediately powered my computer off (not sure if that was the right thing to do tho, but I had to get the high pitch sound to stop). When my computer turned on everything seemed normal and I immediately deleted all of the random stuff that was downloaded (which were named unknown file). I'm worried tho now that my computer might be compromised. I'm I good or should I be worried? If the latter, how should I go about fixing this? At the moment nothing seems to be happening, but idk if there's a hidden issue now that I don't notice like info stealing or something. [link] [comments]  |
| YouTube Issue with 2018 MBP 15 inch Model Posted: 11 Aug 2018 09:35 PM PDT Hi All, I have been using the new MBP for about a week now and have noticed playback issues when I watch videos on YouTube using Google Chrome. Basically, what happens is that occasionally a video will be playing and then suddenly the sound will cut out and the white loading circle will appear on the video but the video itself will continue to play without sound. Refreshing the page will make the video hang while trying to load. The only way I can get it out of this state is if I close out of my browser and open a new window. This has occurred at least once a day, everyday for the past week. I have tried doing the following to try to solve the issue but I am still having the problem: - Disabling Flash Plugin - Reinstalling Flash Plugin - Switching to my Wifi connection to my router directly (I was previously connecting to my Wifi extender) Specs as follows: - Macbook Pro 15-inch, 2018 - 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 - Radeon Pro 555X Can anyone advise why I might be having this issue? | Posted: 11 Aug 2018 09:28 PM PDT Please help. I did not know my camera roll was syncing to iCloud until it started telling me that iCloud is out of storage a few days ago. It says I have zero kb remaining (believable, I apparently have 7000 photos synced to icloud) and gives me another option aside from deleting photos. "If you want to stop using iCloud Photo Library and recover your iCloud storage, you can disable it on all your devices. You will then have 30 days to download your photos and videos." A few questions.
Thank you in advance edit: I am using an iphone running ios 10.3.3, if it matters. It also says that all of my full res images are stored on icloud, and smaller versions are stored on my phone. If I change this, would I be accidentally deleting anything? Is the best option to just upload my photos to my computer and delete them from my phone? Please help [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 11 Aug 2018 07:50 PM PDT My dad just came to me for help with his old (I think 2nd gen) IPad and on the lock screen it says "lost iPad, write to email help.apple.us@gmail.com. It is also locked and he doesn't remember the password despite all his attempts so we can't unlock it to do a factory reset and connecting it to a computer and opening iTunes does nothing because it needs to be unlocked. He also pointed out that it seems weird the email would be "@gmail" since it's Apple. They'd use their own domain right? He thinks it's a virus as a result. I created some new custom ringtones, but even they don't show up in iTunes, after I imported the .m4r files into my iTunes library. | MacBook Air not entering deep sleep/hibernation - ext. drive issue? Posted: 11 Aug 2018 03:39 PM PDT Hello guys, so recently I switched from my Linux PC to a MacBook and I couldn't be happier. Almost everything works flawlessly and I have gotten used to macOS pretty well now, it's a breeze to work on this device. I have one big issue though. My Mac's sleep isn't working correctly. This was actually one of the reasons I bought the device - no need to shutdown in the evening, just close the lid for the day and come back with only like 3-4% battery lost. At least that's what I hoped for and now I get about 20% loss overnight. So I have tried to find out how the sleep actually works. If I understand it correctly, the Mac goes into standby first, and after a certain delay (standbydelay in pmset) it goes into hibernation which should conserve the battery. I thought the delay was too long to I set it to 10 minutes, just to try it out. It still won't hibernate. Digging further into it, pmset -g assertions shows me what I think is at fault here: "com.apple.powermanagement.externalmediamounted" blocks the deep sleep for the exact amount of time I have my lid closed. I have a small SD card called Nifty that is constantly plugged into my MBA as a storage extension. Now I read something about newer macOS versions trying to eject and remount drives automatically when sleeping but it just doesn't work for me. I also tried apps like Mountain and Jettison to no avail. They do seem to eject and remount my drive - it reappears shortly after I open the lid. But still, no deep sleep for me. Always com.apple.powermanagement.externalmediamounted preventing it for the whole time I close my Mac. Am I getting something wrong here? It must be possible to not lose 20% battery overnight just because an SD is plugged in? I have no issue with tinkering around in terminal, but for now as I am new to macOS I'd get some more knowledgeable opinions first. Oh, and I'm running the latest version of High Sierra. I already tried it on a clean install of macOS. I would be infinitely grateful if this issue could be sorted out since otherwise, I am in love with this computer. [link] [comments]  |

It started after I connected Bluetooth to my friend's Suburu Crosstrek. I tried turning on and off Bluetooth, 'forget this device' on all devices, and restarted to no avail. I also updated to ios 11.4.1 thinking the update would fix it, but it didn't. Resetting Network settings helped a bit, but still disconnects I have an iPhone 7, and can confirm that the headphones are not the problem (no problems on iphone 6+ and ipad mini 3) [link] [comments]  |
| Apple won't fix my iPhone 7 with no service, what now? Posted: 11 Aug 2018 05:56 PM PDT I have an iPhone 7 that is affected by the "no service" issue. About two weeks ago, I had my battery and screen replaced by a third party technician after it had fallen. Then, a couple days later my phone service slowly faded out. I went into the apple store to have it diagnosed, then sent away for the program (twice, actually, the first time the tech sent it off with the wrong serial number) and it was sent back to me untouched with a note and an email stating that "...our technicians determined that your product is ineligible for service. It shows signs of misuse or unauthorized modifications." I contacted my local apple store and they refuse to service my phone whether or not I pay them to. I contacted my local repair service and they told me that it had to have been a manufacturing/ hardware error and that they don't have the tech to work on it, so they recommended me to iPad rehab who just told me via email that they can't fix my phone. Please, can someone help me or recommend a service or tech? I just want my phone to work again.. It is currently stuck in a Recovery mode loop, I would even appreciate if I could get it functioning without service for a short period.And please don't lecture me about apple's warranty and policies-- when I had the battery and screen replaced I thought those would be the last repairs that I would have to do on the phone. I have a second larger TV (32" maybe) that I seldom turn on, but was thinking about getting an Apple TV out there to sometimes watch a movie or stream YouTube yoga or whatever. I have a 2017 MB (and a 2012 MBP). If I just buy that adapter, can I then just stream as effectively? Will the picture suffer, or does it stress out the MB at all? And then do I just need a cheap HDMI cable like the one I got for my Apple TV? If not, no problem. I will just keep saving for the second Apple TV. | Early 2015 MacbookPro Keyboard/Trackpad/Power issue Posted: 11 Aug 2018 04:48 PM PDT Hi guys, This is definitely an odd one. I got a client bring in this 13" MBP Early 2015 saying the keyboard and trackpad almost never work (but sometimes they do kick in). External keyboard/mouse works fine. - After doing some reading, I figured it was the cable that connects from the logic board to the trackpad board so I ordered that and replaced it. - After replacing it, I could not turn the computer on using the power button, BUT if I got the computer on by disconnecting battery, plugging it in and randomly plugging the charger in and out, it would eventually come on. - Once the computer was on, the TRACKPAD now works and sometimes I'd even get keyboard, and the POWER button worked because I could hold it down to shut off. - The big problem is, even when the keyboard and mouse work with the new cable, I cannot turn on the computer just using the power button. If I connect the OLD cable, the power button does turn on the computer but trackpad/keyboard won't work. Any ideas? [link] [comments]  |
| 2011 MB Pro - New HDD cable needed? Posted: 11 Aug 2018 09:50 AM PDT Hi. I have a MacBook Pro (hardware test lists it as MacBook Pro8,2, Intel i7, 4GB RAM) that my sister gave me that was non-functioning. It was working, broke, then she didn't want to pay the cost of fixing it again. Inside I found a broken Airport ribbon cable (I think the last tech tried to force the connector on and sheared it from the cable). I've replaced that as well as gotten a used AC adapter and thrown a 120GB HDD for testing. There's no OS currently, and I only have a disc for Snow Leopard I happened to have (thrift shop find). I cannot get either the DVD setup or the Internet Recovery to get past the Apple logo. It goes to a white screen and nothing happens even if I let it sit for a long time. I'm not sure what OS was originally on it since I took the HDD out and gave it back when I first got it. Now booting with ALT pressed brings me to the startup manager with either the option for the DVD drive or Internet Recovery, no HDD icon. Does this mean the HDD is not found or should it show up at all? I've tried another HDD and same result. Should I purchase a new HDD cable? I'm not up on all the relevant vernacular so excuse me if I'm not exact in my wording. I'm not looking to use this machine as a daily driver but I would like to get it running. I also have tried running a Ubuntu LiveUSB but can't get it to boot. Something to do with EFI. Just wanting to test if the HDD is detected in an OS. Any help is greatly appreciated. | iMac 27” 2011 keeps shutting down Posted: 11 Aug 2018 08:01 AM PDT Hi I have an iMac 2011 27". It recently started shutting down for no good reason. The fans come on at 100% and then it just shuts down. Even if nothing is running. Sometimes it can run for a whole day without issue. Then it will decide to do the 100% fan thing the following day after 10-15 minutes. It is in Apple factory state - I.e. nothing added or even had the front off to have a poke around. I have done a clean install of High Sierra (10. 13.6) with a fresh user. I have done a SMC and PRAM reset. The Apple diagnostic says all is ok. Any ideas of a way forward? [link] [comments]  |

| Mid-2012 DIY fusion MBP goes to sleep unexpectedly Posted: 11 Aug 2018 01:53 PM PDT Note: I have ruled out the lid sensor. After using my computer for a while, it will randomly go to sleep. It does save its state and restore normally when it wakes up. If it's plugged in, the power cable goes from green (charged) to orange (charging) leading me to believe its a power issue. A while ago I took it to the apple store, they recommended a battery replacement but that has not entirely prevented the issue. Currently I have my HDD where my DVD drive was, and the SSD where the original HDD was. Should they be swapped? It did work fine under this configuration for a while. [link] [comments]  |
