Had a repair shop to a water treatment and it didnt work. Phone will not turn on. I just sold it for parts and want to be sure I am safe with my data. Here is what I have done in order:

Posted: 10 Aug 2018 07:36 PM PDT I'm in the process of replacing the audio ports in my iMac to resell it, and in the process I pulled the HDD to transfer everything I needed to my new build, and for shiggles I ran a userbenchmark test which told me that the HDD is operating in the bottom 12% of the same model, which makes me suspect that it's about to die and needs to be replaced as well. From what I can see, similar models are going for $700-$900CAD on ebay right now, I'm wondering if spending ~$180 will give me enough resale potential to justify the cost over a $80 1tb HDD replacement. | I can't identify the virus I have Posted: 10 Aug 2018 05:31 PM PDT I have a MacBook air and today I rebooted my computer. The reboot took almost 2 minutes and when I opened chrome the screen was really glitchy (safari works though). My MacBook is also perma muted and I can't adjust the volume. When I go to finder, all files shows nothing. Malwarebytes (which I already had installed) wouldn't scan anything, not even a loading bar showed up. I downloaded AVG, and it did scan, but showed nothing. My MacBook is up-to-date. If you need anymore info, let me know. Oh and thank you to everyone reading this. [link] [comments]  |
| What has been your experience with refurbished macbook pros Posted: 10 Aug 2018 01:36 PM PDT My 2011 Macbook pro has been great for the around 7 years i've owned it but after learning i won't be able to upgrade to the latest OS as well as some slowdowns i feel its time for a refresh. I don't need my next laptop to hould up for another 7 years so i'm thinking of saving a few bucks by going for a refurbrished 2016-2017 model. Just want to know if they are any good because even though i'm not expecting 7 years out of it i don't want to be in the market again right away either. [link] [comments]  |

| Is there a way to disable the autodelete on iBooks when storage is almost full? Posted: 10 Aug 2018 04:22 PM PDT Whenever I have around 2-3gb left, iBooks goes and automatically "cleans" up all my books. There is an option to redownload them (from icloud), but it is annoying because I travel often, and hate to find myself on a flight with all my books removed. Is there a way to disable this? From the old one, airdrop doesn't show up in finder or finder options, and when I go to system information>WI-FI, it doesn't show anything airdrop related. It seemed to work fine on sierra. | Posted: 10 Aug 2018 06:17 PM PDT Hi there - I have a 15" MBP, Mid 2014, 2.2 Hz i7, 16GB memory, running 10.13.4. The problem is that the screen keeps shutting off when (I think) the graphics card overheats. The screen goes dark while the computer keeps running. I notice a hot spot right above the 3/4 buttons on the keyboard. I downloaded istat, and when I make them, the fans do work and cool the computer down so this doesn't happen. But that's loud, and annoying to have to constantly adjust. When I do an smcreset, the fans will run for a bit, and then after a while, they won't, and I need to reset it again. I'm sorry that this sounds weird and vague, but I'm at a loss! If you have any advice I would really appreciate it. [link] [comments]  |

On the site indeed.ca, when I choose to upload my resume, Chrome goes to a darker screen with the plus new tab sign in the top left, but I can't do anything, it just crashes. Any idea? Thanks. | Caps Lock has never worked on 2017 MacBook Pro? (long but mostly things I've tried) Posted: 10 Aug 2018 11:05 AM PDT I'm using a 2017 MacBook Pro 15", macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. Since I got this MacBook Pro new earlier this year I have noticed the caps lock hasn't worked on my macOS side, however it works perfect on my Windows 10 partition. The issue was present before I had the Windows 10 partition. In macOS I have never seen the caps lock light go on. The caps lock keyboard button doesn't seem to be connected to the caps lock command, instead it is some null command or something that I don't yet know about. When I press it nothing happens on screen unless I am in a place where I can type in some text. There is some consistency, but I'm not sure what exactly is happening, if anything at all. For example while typing this description in Safari if I hit caps lock I can keep typing as if nothing happened, but if I am in Numbers or Pages or typing a URL in Safari and I hit caps lock it will deselect the spot I'm typing (meaning the blinking bar disappears). In Numbers if I hit caps lock again it will deselect the box I was typing in. Once I can no longer type in any of those situations, if I hit caps lock again I will hear an audible dull noise as if I have pressed a button with no function. This might be a weird example but on the Tumblr dashboard in Safari if I have a chat convo up and press caps lock while typing in the chat convo it closes the chat. I brought up the Keyboard Viewer thats built in to the MacBook Pro and when I press caps lock nothing shows up on the keyboard viewer and theres an audible dull noise. When I open Terminal and press caps lock once nothing happens, twice and theres an audible dull noise, three times and nothing happens, and after the 4th time it pops up "Display all 1503 possibilities? (y or n)" in the command line, and if I type y the following pops up (note: 5+ times will result in an the dull noise but allow me to type y or n): "Display all 1503 possibilities? (y or n) ! mdoc-validate ./ mdutil 2to3- mdvalidater 2to3-2.7 memory_pressure : mesg AppleFileServer mib2c AssetCacheLocatorUtil mib2c-update AssetCacheManagerUtil mig AssetCacheTetheratorUtil mkbom BootCacheControl mkbundle" If I expand the window before I display all possibilities it will show a lot more possibilities but for the sake of space I shortened it. I'm not sure if this is normal because I've never tried it in Terminal with a working caps lock button but if you would like me to expand it further to see what the other options are let me know. Again this has been happening since I got the MacBook in March 2018 and I never really thought anything of it but its getting annoying at this point. Unfortunately I can't test to see if the caps lock works on my USB keyboard for a couple weeks until I get back home, but if you have any tests you want me to try out I'd be more than happy. | Replacing logic board in Time Capsule Posted: 10 Aug 2018 04:58 PM PDT I had a lightning strike take out a bunch of electronics. The surge fried the ethernet port of my cable modem, more on this in a minute. It also took out the power supply in my 4th generation Time Capsule. The power supply has been replaced and Time Capsule powers up again. However, whatever surge destroyed the cable modem ethernet port also seems to have affected the ethernet port in Time Capsule as it cannot connect to internet. So replacing the logic board is presumably the next step. I've found a 1st generation logic board on eBay. What would be the negative impact of putting a 1st generation logic board in a 4th generation Time Capsule? [link] [comments]  |

It has synced to all of my devices (iPhone, AppleTV) using iCloud Music Library. However, I'm not aware of a way to get this song on her iPhone. We have an Apple Music Family plan. Just to preference this question id like to say my internet is pretty good and I have 120gb storage, around 80gb left. The issue is no apps are downloading, it just shows me the bar move maybe a pixel then it's stuck there for eternity and when I try to download Netflix shows it so slow that they might aswell not even be downloading, and these are only 20 min episodes. And finally many times Reddit just freezes when I'm browsing on my phone, if anyone can offer a solution that would be great [link] [comments]  |
| cannot clean install OS on macbook pro a1278 Posted: 10 Aug 2018 04:39 PM PDT machine had a dead hdd. i have tried 2 new drives. i have partitioned and formatted them correctly(i have done this many times to many mbp machines), but internet recovery(tries mountain lion) fails with "apple.com/support -2101f"(or 2103f) every time during the spinning globe. a few times it has gotten past that all the way to choosing the drive to install and right when it is about to start it does "the request has timed out" also have tried to install with a bootable usb installer of yosemite(which i have used many times and never had an issue) and i get "Mac OS could not be installed on your computer. File system verify or repair failed. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again." i have tried both wifi and hardwiring from the internet recovery and reset modem. never had issues clean installing a mac before and it's getting frustrating. i have also reset pram and smc. It works great because all of our photos just appear on all of our devices automatically- good for kids. But it does keep getting us mixed up with our "me" contacts. Siri keeps calling her my name etc. Our contacts also don't need to be mixed in together. So we are looking to turn on family sharing and it seems like everything else will be fine, but we'd like it if all our photos would end up in the one account. So if we go to our computer all the photos would appear there. But it sounds like that won't happen. Sounds like one of us needs to set up a shared photo album and add things to it? Is there an automated way? We often need to access photos we have recently taken and use them on the computer. iCloud Photo Library is slow enough to update all the devices as it is - I would hate to add an extra step in there by having to remember to manually share each photo. | 80 gb invisible trapped space - macbook Posted: 10 Aug 2018 12:30 PM PDT I decided to remove Parallels and Windows 10 on my macbook and eventually do things "properly" with Bootcamp. When I removed the virtual machine, and uninstalled Parallels, however, I noticed that Disk Utility didn't really acknowledge any more free space. After every reboot Finder recognized immediately only 33gb of available space and after some "thinking" it sees 110 Gb (which is correct). Disk Utility doesn't seem to agree anyway. https://imgur.com/a/DpDlblg And the hierarchy in Disk Utility now is messed up, there's this "Container disk1" that I didn't have before deleting Parallels. | MacBook Pro keeps running out of battery when I'm not using it? Posted: 10 Aug 2018 11:17 AM PDT I've had it 3-5 years now, only thing downloaded on it is the sims which I rarely play. I mostly use it for youtube and google searching. I used to be able to just close it at night and then in the morning I'd open it and it would be the same battery percentage as when I had closed it but the past 3 days or so, when I open it it's completely drained and won't turn on until I plug it in and charge it back up again.
