Ultraviolet and VUDU downgraded 4K movies on iTunes Posted: 24 Jul 2018 09:41 PM PDT I have several movies (around 50, all BD digital code redemptions) that were upgraded to 4K last year which I no longer have access to. I still have the movies in HD, but 4K HDR is gone. I finally figured out what caused this issue today, so I'm hoping somebody might have some insight into fixing it other than "call Apple and hope they can work something out." That hasn't been going well so far. I'll try to condense this long and confusing issue as much as possible. Basically, all of the movies in question were originally redeemed in iTunes, but I also had them in my Ultraviolet library. My Ultraviolet and VUDU libraries were disconnected in May, and reconnected shortly after. During that process, VUDU removed said movies from my account and re-added them from Ultraviolet even though they all should have been there anyway because of Movies Anywhere. VUDU then kicked those movies back to Movies Anywhere as new purchases, and MA in turn sent them back to iTunes as HD. This overrode the 4K versions I previously had, as my original redemption through iTunes has been essentially replaced by the erroneous addition through VUDU. Movies Anywhere customer service has told me there's nothing they can do since they simply transfer information between other services. VUDU has claimed that the issue I'm having is not possible, even though I can see it in my transaction history on MA and my iTunes library has clearly been affected. Ultraviolet has not gotten back to me. A senior advisor at Apple has been helping me, to the extent that he's taking the information I can give him about what's going on and having engineers look into it. He hasn't exactly instilled much hope in me, though. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything from Movies Anywhere, and I've also disconnected and reconnected my Ultraviolet and VUDU again to force a refresh. None of it has helped, but it thankfully hasn't worsened the problem either. Has anybody had a similar issue? More importantly, has anyone had any success resolving a similar issue? Apple TV 4K HDMI Signal Issues and (Possibly related) Audio drop outs Posted: 24 Jul 2018 09:33 PM PDT Hey all A problem recently cropped up with my Apple TV 4K which I have had for over half a year now. I have a 55 inch Samsung UNC TV. I don't know the model, but it's 7ish years old. I have everything going through an Onkyo RC-HC-270 Reciever. My HDMI Cables are ones from MonoPrice that I have had for years. Neither my TV or Receiver are 4k compatible. Lately I get this occasional message that the Apple TV cant keep a signal due to the HDMI Cable. I cant remember the exact message. It just recently started doing it. It just happens for a moment and then it's fine. Possibly related and completely random is sound will drop out for a brief moment. At first I thought that could be due to internet connection but I checked that and it's solid. I really dont know what the issue is. My first thought is an HDMI cable, but I wanted to post to see if anyone had other ideas about what could be wrong. My cables are pretty old so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the issue. Would I replace the one from the ATV to the Reciever and the one from the Receiver to the TV? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2018 07:26 AM PDT I never see posts about it but I've been experiencing it ever since I got my Apple TV 4K 3 months ago. Im using various websites to stream video from my iPhone to my Apple TV. Sometimes the video loads and then jumps back to the home screen and nothing happens. Sometimes it works fine and then flickers black screen a few times before going to the home screen. Bottom line is that it's not stable. Tried different websites, updated to the last lest firmware, restarted my Apple TV. Restored it. Restored my iPhone. Nothing seems to solve it, seems like it's an issue with the software apple hasn't addressed yet. I'd love to see a workaround or even if anyone else is experiencing this. Super annoying. Thanks. Posted: 24 Jul 2018 07:16 PM PDT Just got a new Vizio E65-F1 TV and a new Apple TV 4K for my new home. Even though it came with high speed 4K rated/certified cables ran from a media closet to the TV above fireplace I've been unable to get the Apple TV to run in 4K using those cables. Today I bought the Belkin cable from Apple and just connected it directly to test it out. It definitely seems to be working better with this cable but I'd like to know the recommended settings. I've seen a lot of conflicting articles lately so just want to see what everyone recommends. Guess I'll be buying the TV mount at Apple as well to mount the ATV4K to the back of the TV. Apple TV 4K AirPlay quits working after going into standby/sleep Posted: 24 Jul 2018 02:34 PM PDT Hey all, I have an interesting issue I keep banging my head against a wall with. I have an ATV 4K (running tvOS 11.4.1) connected via ethernet to a switch behind my TV, and it all works great. Except when the ATV goes into standby or reboots. Then, it requires that I reboot my/my wife's phone (iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7, both on iOS 10.3.3) to allow it to connect via AirPlay. After rebooting either phone, that phone seems to work just fine with AirPlay, but the other doesn't until it, too, is rebooted. Reboot the ATV or let it go into standby, and immediately the same thing occurs. The ATV is no longer discoverable via AirPlay, and the phone(s) need rebooted. The remote still works, as does everything else on the ATV and the phones, just not AirPlay. I've also tried hooking up the ATV to Wi-Fi on the same network as the phones (running Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC Pros) and this didn't fix it either. So my question is this. Has anyone had this issue before? I can give a full rundown of my network, but I feel like it's something on the ATV or the phone, and not the network itself, as it works just fine after rebooting the phone after the ATV reboots or comes out of standby/sleep. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jul 2018 12:55 PM PDT I have got curb your enthusiasm box set on iTunes but as usual they appear under one item in my iTunes library instead of separate seasons. As a result in the tv app it shows the correct episode best to play but won't play it as it says I have to purchase it. Anyway of sorting it so the tv app can use the boxset or is this something Apple has just half assed? [link] [comments] |
