Posted: 25 Jul 2018 08:23 AM PDT I contacted Apple Support today because the "silent clicking" and "Force Touch" options for my external Magic Trackpad 2 where gone where an external Magic Trackpad 2 is connected and they told me that it's not compatible with 2018 Macbook Pro, WHAT? It's the newest Magic Trackpad model, how can it not be compatible anymore? So now I'm stuck with the annoying clicking noise when I use my external Trackpad [link] [comments] |

WARNING: Don't use 2 factor identification without knowing what recovery process is. Posted: 25 Jul 2018 08:14 AM PDT So people sign in for 2 factor process and don't think about what happens if you just have one device and change you number. If you change your number and reset your apple device to factory settings. You won't be able to access your device because you don't have access to the number you set up with 2 factor. You won't be able to access you Icloud. It takes anywhere from 6 to 20 days to recover your account driven by an automated system ONLY. Apple store wont be able to help you. Apple support won't be able to help you. You will be stuck with a device that you cant properly access till the automated recovery system completes. There is no way to speed up the process at all no matter who you talk to. It has been a nightmare and pretty much all the support people I talked to ran into the same situation and had friends that had the same situation and none of the use 2 factor anymore. If you use account recovery when you get to the recovery page to check progress DO NOT use verify now. It doesn't work its not for the recovery process its for something else it shouldn't even been on that page and it can restart you recovery process each time you use it. [link] [comments] |

I know this post may not be relevant but ... Posted: 25 Jul 2018 04:14 PM PDT ... does anyone else here feel that you spend more time getting the right iPhone or the right Mac and less time using it? For some reason I have this weird obsession to find the best MacBook that would futureproof all my tech needs - I'm the kind of guy that can easily survive with 4 GB of RAM in 2018 and yet I would prefer to pick a 16 GB machine because that's somewhat "futureproof". To give you another example, I primarily use my phone to browse safari for reading articles. I don't click tens of photos a day - I click an average of 5 or probably 10 photos a week (sometimes even a month). And yet I "need to have" camera image sensor with 4K 60 FPS video capture, because I worry that I might need it someday ... Another example, I bought an iPad Pro 10.5 inch (I love it) because that would help me "express my creativity" more aesthetically, when I could have used a normal pen and paper to do the same. It seems like I'm making a big deal out of using Apple products by treating them as if I were buying a car that's expected to last for 10 years. If you have an iPad or MacBook - its purpose is to act as a tool or a medium that can simply your life and/or grow up higher on your career ladder. I on the other hand look at my MacBook as a machine that needs to be tweaked at its finest to be "perfect". To give you a metaphor - imagine going to an art exhibition with no paintings - rather each exhibit is filled with artist's collection of blank canvases, paint brushes, paints etc etc ... and you as an art connoisseur looks at this artists' tools with mere wonderment ,"Whoa - this brush is a beauty - I wonder what this artist is gonna use next year - would it be a paint brush with 3007 bristles instead of 2766 bristles on this year's brush?". To summarize, why do I have this "need" to justify my Apple products' purchase as,"I certainly need an Apple device to do this; if I use that device instead of an Apple device to do this I don't think I'll be good enough ..." Thanks for reading. I know this post makes no sense on /r/Apple, just trying to make sense of what this Apple evangaliesm is all about. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2018 11:59 PM PDT The firmware on it is 8.1 and I can't seem to login to app store, I've tried updating it but it automatically tries to update it to 10.3 which from my understanding does not work on iPad 2. Is there anyway to manually update it to iOS 9.3.5? EDIT: It's an iPad 4.... [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jul 2018 12:54 AM PDT I just recently bought a white silicone case for my iPhone X and it's starting to get a bit dirty. What are your tips for cleaning it/keeping it clean? [link] [comments] |

Is the Apple SD card reader incredibly slow for anyone else? (iPad 10.5) Posted: 25 Jul 2018 03:52 PM PDT Brought my DSLR and Apple SD card reader on a trip. About 1000 photos in (RAW) I wanted to pull some to my iPad. It took a good ~45 minutes to load the thumbnails. Anyone else have this issue? [link] [comments] |
A year later after release and I still love the 10.5 inch iPad Pro. Posted: 26 Jul 2018 01:50 AM PDT I got mine only a couple of months ago, and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. Yes I know there's a new one (most likely) releasing in a few months, but I was complicit in wanting to retain use of the home button for the iPad. I feel that 10.5 inches is just the perfect screen size. It's really amazing how once you just get used to that size, 9.7inch iPads suddenly look quite smaller and not as appetising. The Promotion just makes for such a fluid and seamless experience. No one talks about this much, but one of my favourite things about this iPad is the brighter screen (600 nits), compared to its predecessor. As someone that uses mine outdoors a lot, especially during these summer days, it makes a huge, huge difference. And while we're at it, outdoors, playing music on it through the stereo speakers (if I'm sitting in my garden eg) sounds amazing too. As a passionate Apple boy, I use Apples leathers sleeve, Smart Cover and Apple Pencil, and couldn't be happier with all three. The 10.5 inch iPad Pro really will be fondly remembered by me as one of my favourite Apple devices ever released :) It will remain a solid device and relevant well into the future. Good egpu for MacBook Pro 2018 Posted: 25 Jul 2018 04:45 PM PDT Don't really know anything about these but does anyone know of a good egpu that is compatible with the new MacBook? [link] [comments] |
Audio-out from LG 5K Ultra Fine? Posted: 26 Jul 2018 02:24 AM PDT Right now, I only have two cables attached to my MBP, USB-C -> LG display, and a 3.5mm audio cable to external speakers. It'd be grand if I could connect the speakers to the LG display to make it the perfect hub. Has anyone tried a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor or other solution? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2018 04:08 PM PDT So I think most people are aware that Siri could 'flip a coin' but I just found out that you can ask Siri to roll dice (single, 2 dice, D12, D20 etc). That got me curious, so I also asked Siri to pick a card and it responded as well. Anyone else have any interesting game related Siri inquiries they've found that work? [link] [comments] |
