    macOS Messages in iCloud, 10.13.5

    Messages in iCloud, 10.13.5

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 12:27 PM PDT

So today macOS 10.13.5 was released and messages in iCloud came along with it. However, after updating my MacBook Pro I still don't see the option to enable that feature and I've tried everything to no avail. Is anyone else having issues with this? My MacBook Pro is the mid 2012 non retina if that makes any difference.

Edit 2: also added a screen of my "about this Mac"

Edit 3: Thank you everyone for your assistance! I have figured out the problem, it wasn't working because I did not have keychain setup in iCloud on my MacBook Pro, once I activated that I got the option to enable messages in iCloud under preferences in the messages app!

Weird graphical glitches when watching Netflix with subtitles on

    Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:41 AM PDT

Is anyone experiencing this problem? I'm using a 15" Mid 2014 Macbook Pro with macOS 10.13.5 and I'm experiencing this bug since I upgraded to 10.13.2 with a clean install. It happens with Safari and Chrome as well.
I can't believe Apple still hasn't figured out a way to fix this annoying graphical glitches.

How to delete multiple messages in messages app in macOS 10.13.5?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 06:55 PM PDT

As the title says, how can I delete multiple messages from the messages app in 10.13.5? I have about 278 unread messages from various services which I do not wish to read. If I try to delete them using cmd+delete, I get a warning popup asking me to if I really want to delete the conversation.

Earlier, I could delete a conversation using cmd+option+delete. But that doesn't seem to work with 10.13.5.

Is there a different way to do it now?

    -thanks

Did 10.13.5 fix the lockscreen graphical glitch?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 10:55 AM PDT

The glitch that I'm talking about is the one which occurs after waking the screen from sleep. A glitched screen is shown for a split second.

Is there no way to rotate recorded videos in Mac OS Sierra v10.12.6's Photos app like with photos?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 08:43 PM PDT

I see options to do that, but they are not clickable. It has to be done outside of it like with QuickTime from what I read on the Internet. The videos were imported from an iPhone 6+.

It is possible to play 4k HEVC videos on an Early-2015 Macbook Pro

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 08:42 PM PDT

After looking into this myself and seeing a couple threads around here, I decided to make a thread.

It is possible to play 4k HEVC formats on the 2015 macbook pro, with one caveat - is HAS to be in an mp4 container and tagged with hvc1 in order to be played. I tested it in two resolutions; 2560x1600 here and 3360x1600 here. The 2nd one shoes the CPU usage while playing the video.

I personally re-encode all my media files to HEVC anyways (I know, quality loss blah blah blah), but it's great to know that all I have to do is add a tag to have it playable on my macbook.

If you have an hev1 mp4 file, it will need to be retagged with hvc1. If you have an older avc1 mp4, it will need to be re-encoded to hvc1. (see how-to https://stackoverflow.com/a/46540577)

Wrong language after every OS update

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 03:09 PM PDT

Why? The language is still Spanish in settings, but I've been having this bug since the very first High Sierra version. I see some prompts in English.

App Store doesn't check for updates automatically

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 11:17 AM PDT

Apple released Mac OS 10.13.5 today and this is second time App Store didn't show me this update. In App Store settings only the "Automatically check for updates" is checked. Did I maybe broke this somehow? Is there a way to force checks for updates more frequent?

Downloaded all of my songs to my MacBook and iPhone, but now they need to be downloaded again?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 06:12 AM PDT

I am currently in Japan, wanted to download my library so that I wouldn't need to stream while in a different country and use expensive data.

I found some Japanese songs I liked while in Japan and downloaded those too, but now all my American songs I downloaded need to be re-downloaded? Is this some region thing?

Confused and unsure of what to do, re-download them? or will this make me lose access to the Japanese music once I'm in the states?

[HELP] Graphical glitch unique to my own Macbook pro 13 inch early 2015.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2018 05:03 AM PDT

Video becomes distorted (slanted) full screen in 4:3 aspect ratio videos. Dock must disappear for the video to become slanted and distorted. The issue does not happen while screen sharing with Apple support. The issue does not happen when you change the display settings to anything scaled besides default. Occurs in all 4:3 videos in iTunes store. I tried playing a 4:3 video I downloaded from the internet in Quicktime player (full screen) and no distortion, I then imported the same video to iTunes and played it fullscreen and it became distorted. More recent movies/tv shows will play correctly. Mostly all of the shows in the classic genre in the itunes store will cause distortion because they are 4:3 aspect ratio. Putting subtitles on in iTunes causes the issue to come and go (for example, when the subtitle will pop up the screen will go back to normal, then when the subtitle disappears it will get distorted again). I was trying to play the Rugrats: All grown up season 1 episode 1 and this was giving me the distorted video.

DOWNGRADED TO MAC OS 10.12 AND BELOW FIXES THE PROBLEM. But I wanted to know if there is still something wrong with my macbook because this issue doesn't effect all macbooks.
