MacOS WiFi Dropping When Waking From Sleep Posted: 07 Jun 2018 12:13 AM PDT Hardware: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) Software: MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.5 So this problem has been happening randomly when I sometimes wake my Mac up from sleep. The WiFi disconnects and appears to be out of range when I know for a fact that it is not. When I try to connect to WiFi, MacOS states that it is unable to connect to my network and recommends a system diagnosis. Usually in order to remedy this problem, I just walk over to my wifi router which is located in a downstairs office and connect to WiFi a foot away from the router. However, due to this happening multiple times, it has gotten more and more annoying with each passing time. Finally 10 minutes ago, I found a cure within the network settings of my Mac. Navigate to system preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi and locate Preferred Networks. If you do not see your home network or whatever network you are on listed on here, go ahead and press the little + button below the list and add the network name and password. Click Ok. And then click apply. After manually adding your network, the computer should connect back to your network just fine. I hope this helps even one other person with this same problem. This has aggravated me to no end. Just thought I should share my findings. [link] [comments]
question about Messages on macos Posted: 06 Jun 2018 10:07 PM PDT With all the recent router/modem hacks, I'm wondering how Messages signs in over a network. Forgive the paranoia, but the past four years for me have been a monthly assault on identity, tax, and credit, so this recent router attack has got me a little spooked. I use an iPhone, and all my texts, including multiple two factor authentications, travel across both iPhone and Messages on my Macbook Pro running 10.13.5. Plus my apple id has credit accounts associated with it. So I'm wondering how the apple id itself, and its password, are transmitted. I think that content of Messages themselves are encrypted end to end [between two Apple accounts], but when Messages authenticates [on macos], is its authentication method encrypted? Is this ssh? or some other protocol? [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Jun 2018 01:50 AM PDT Hi folks, I have to look at a lot of pictures every day and use Quick View (spacebar) to sort out files quickly. After a certain time (about 1000 images) Quick View needs a lot of time to open an image. (About 1-2 sec delay) . Is it possible to make Quick View faster without rebooting? For example, to clear the cache via the terminal? Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
Force touch doesn't work in safari. Posted: 06 Jun 2018 10:04 PM PDT So I have force touch look up turned on and it worked at first but now nothing happens. I feel the force touch, so the hardware's fine and it works in calendar, so I can't figure out what's wrong [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2018 04:53 PM PDT I was wondering if iTunes in Mojave beta still have the cover arts missing and some tv show or whatever which has 720p distorts when it is in full screen? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Screenshots and dragged files take a moment to appear on my desktop Posted: 06 Jun 2018 09:33 PM PDT Screenshots take a variable amount of time. Sometimes take 10 seconds, the longest I've had to wait was 30+ seconds. No app modifying desktop behaviour, time becomes instant after I restart but it reproduces itself quickly after a period of use. Dragged jpeg files that go to Desktop can take 5-15 seconds to appear. Clicking download sends it to my Downloads folder instantly. These are 200-500kb jpeg files we're talking about. [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Jun 2018 08:21 PM PDT Anyone else experiencing this? I tried out Safari too, but it didn't do the consistent asking for microphone permissions like Chrome did. Yes, I know this is beta 1, but I just thought I'd bring this up here just to see if anyone else who's on this first beta of Mojave is experiencing this too. And yes, for those wondering, I have submitted a bug report to Apple, even though it is something I'm experiencing with an app that isn't their own. [link] [comments]
Unable to activate my brand new FaceTime in its Mac app? Posted: 06 Jun 2018 05:58 PM PDT Hello. I am having problems activating my brand new FaceTime in two different old Apple ID accounts with an old, updated Mac OS X El Capitan v10.11.6 machine's admin account. They both get stuck for a very long time to activate. They doesn't even time out as well. https://i.imgur.com/siy5SAc.png for my uploaded screen shot/capture. What's wrong? [link] [comments]

Can time machine revert MacOS Mojave install back to high Sierra? Posted: 06 Jun 2018 07:15 PM PDT I'm tempted to install the beta so I can play with the new macOS ML playground. Would like to know if I can revert back post install. If not, is it possible to revert any other way and just restore my data from time machine ? [link] [comments]
PSA: Quickly switch between dark and light mode on macOS Mojave Posted: 06 Jun 2018 04:10 AM PDT I'm sure some of you have already thought of this but for those who haven't, here's a short and easy way to create a shortcut for you to switch between light and dark mode in macOS Mojave (or earlier versions, where only the dock and menu bar are affected):
You can now drag this mini-app into your dock or on your desktop to have a one-click switch between dark and light mode. If you want to be extra fancy, you can change the icon to a sun or something of the sorts, so it looks more elegant in the dock. [link] [comments]
Small vertical lines in certain windows (not hardware related) Posted: 06 Jun 2018 04:53 PM PDT Hey there, This was a problem I've had for the last year or two on my 2013 27" iMac which has just become glaringly obvious with the dark mode of Mojave. I keep getting small clusters of vertical pixels in weird and wonderful colours, but mostly green. The weird thing is, it's not a panel related issue, because it's only in app windows and they change position on my screen depending on the app that is open. If I hide the apps/windows they do not show up on the background or desktop issue. Thoughts? Thanks all [link] [comments]

Any experience using this website for installing the Mojave beta? Posted: 06 Jun 2018 09:13 PM PDT I found this link in another sub, I wanted to check with you guys and see if anyone has used it successfully to install the Mojave beta without a dev cert? https://beta.thuthuatios.com/en/ I understand there are risks installing beta software, I'm not new to that whole experience, but I'm curious if this is a viable way to test out the beta without dropping a hundo on a dev cert. I apologize if this is against the rules, I'm just genuinely curious what y'alls thoughts are. Cheers! [link] [comments]
question with downgrading from Mojave to High Sierra... Posted: 06 Jun 2018 08:47 PM PDT my friends and i are photographers who use lightroom (editing software) constantly and we all made the mistake of updating to the beta. lightroom is extremely laggy since its not optimized for Mojave, so what i need to know is if i restore our macs, is there an option to reinstall High Sierra (since it's not available in the mac app store anymore) or do we have to download the entire update from somewhere else and use that. Facetime activates on Mojave, anyone else have this pop up? Posted: 06 Jun 2018 01:31 PM PDT its a little creepy and i'm taking precautions now. I've noticed when I receive a call, my facetime activates on my laptop and the camera is on and everything. Normally id say this is a setting that needs to be toggled off but the number is Chinese. So far nothing seems out of the ordinary. Since 'little snitch' doesn't work on 10.14 until they patch it, i cant see if an outside connection is trying to get in. the other weird thing is that Skype is installed. i'm fuzzy about installing that but it might have come with the Microsoft office suite i installed last year and haven't noticed. thoughts? Prevent Siri from muting iTunes when spoken feedback is off Posted: 06 Jun 2018 10:32 AM PDT Hi guys, I'm using "type to Siri" and have "spoken feedback" off. Siri is basically like spotlight for me; I type a command and she executes it. However, while processing the command Siri mutes iTunes, which is very annoying. Does anyone know how to prevent Siri from doing this? I imagined turning off spoken feedback would do the trick, but unfortunately that's not the case. [link] [comments]
Natural Scrolling Checkbox won't stick Posted: 06 Jun 2018 09:32 AM PDT Every time I reboot my system, the trackpad preference for natural scrolling (which I prefer checked) unchecked itself and the behaviour changes to old school/Windows scrolling direction. If I click on the checkbox, it changes the behaviour to what I want, but the checkbox unchecks all by itself. I've attached a video of this happening, I click to check the box, and not to uncheck it. But you can see it uncheck like it's mocking me, and telling me I'm crazy not to want what it thinks I need. Has anyone seen this, and figured out what is going on? I've tried rebooting, resetting PRAM, and SMC, I updated the OS from Sierra 10.12.6 to High Sierra 10.13.5, I've created a new user, booted into Safe Mode, and the behaviour happens in every case. It's really driving me crazy. Any and all suggestions are welcome. [link] [comments] |
