Losing DisplayPort audio output option until I reboot after disconnecting and reconnecting monitor Posted: 22 Jun 2018 09:11 PM PDT I have a 2017 rMBP 15" with touch bar, running 10.13.5. A Dell P2715Q display is connected to it via a USB-C to mDP cable, and attached to monitor is a pair of 2.1 speakers. I have them plugged into the monitor because it's one less thing to plug into my MBP when I want to take it away from my desk, and at first, my MBP has no problem sending audio via the DP cable, which my monitor happily sends out my speakers, it was a great setup. However lately, I have run into an issue where if I disconnect the mDP cable to take my laptop somewhere, and re-plug it in later, the monitor no longer shows up under output devices in the sound preference pane, just internal speaker. And I can't get it back until I reboot. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
MBP 2017 With Touch Bar won’t boot after Mojave upgrade... Posted: 22 Jun 2018 11:48 PM PDT And I cannot even boot into safe mode. I've reset PRAM, done SMC reset... what am I missing??? Holding shift while powering on does nothing as the login screen pops up almost instantly, and then once password is input, the infinite loading bar begins. What do? [link] [comments] |
Best tweaks or functionality modifications? Posted: 22 Jun 2018 03:17 PM PDT I swear I saw a thread about software you can't live without before, but I can't find it anymore, and it wasn't quite what I was looking for... I'd like to ask what sort of tweaks or modifications can you guys not live without? Things like Better[x]Tool or Contexts... Thanks~! [link] [comments] |
How do I force my Macbook Pro to go to sleep when the lid is closed? Posted: 22 Jun 2018 12:55 PM PDT Some apps can make power "assertions" that tell MacOS to not go to sleep, even when the lid closes. You can see these assertions by typing this at the command prompt: If you see this: It means MacOS won't go to sleep due to one or more processes that registered an assertion (the list of processes is at the end of the command output). My question is: how the heck can I force MacOS to ignore these assertions and go to sleep whenever I close the lid? I've searched extensively but have found nothing. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Jun 2018 03:26 AM PDT I am really at my wits end here guys. I need some help badly. My mac has been bogged down so I wanted to do a factory restore. I booted up in recovery mode and went through the steps (tried deleting the volume in Disk Utility) and, as I went to reinstall macOS, I was met with a message that said something about the preboot APFS couldn't be created. I went back through and tried to show all volumes, delete the actual apple volume but was met with a message that said that the volume could not be erased. I plugged in my external hard drive and installed high sierra on there, and then when it was done, I was finally able to boot from that and delete the main drive. now when I unplug the external drive and try to boot i am being met with the question mark blinking folder. If I try to go into recovery mode on the external, it just simply doesn't work. It takes me to my log in screen every single time. I want to install high sierra back onto my internal hard drive now, but I cannot seem to find a way and I'm hitting a brick wall at every turn. When I try to change start up disks, my internal is not even showing up on the list. I have no idea where to go from here. I work from home and I'm in a tight spot right now. I did not expect a simple factory restore to be so hard. It has been hours and hours of me breaking my brain on google and I am just ultimately feeling defeated. Any help here is so greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
