Early iOS 12 thoughts on the X Posted: 05 Jun 2018 11:33 AM PDT I decided to provide a narrative and open Q&A for anyone interested in the early beta of iOS 12. History: I've installed DP of iOS's since the beginning days. I am aware of all iOS updates and features (along with hidden features not highlighted in previous keynotes). I have iOS 12 installed on my daily driver iPhone X. Usage: So far I'd say that beta 1 of iOS 12 is betas beyond historical betas I've seen. This feels more like a beta 6/7 of previous beta builds of iOS. Overall I notice a responsive, speedy iOS that already feels like it can be submitted to the public (noted with what I've experienced before in the past). FaceID is VERY fast. This already feels better than iOS 11 by a longshot. App compatibility: So far all applications I had previously installed on iOS 11 (including some modified sideloaded ones like Rocket for Instagram, YouTube++ etc.) all work. This build honestly feels like 11.5+ if you will. I have only ran into 1 or 2 at the most UI bugs that were easily dismissed with a swipe of the homebar. Features: the need to tap and hold to swipe apps away no longer is necessary, no real visual changes other than a few icon changes and darker UI elements on the lockscreen (music player etc.). Smart notifications is EPIC and has a lot of potential. The Shortcuts.app isn't available on this build yet but you can make some Siri shortcuts within the Siri portion of settings. the DND, Screen Time and Battery Health portions in settings are more comprehensive and infomative regarding your iOS device usage. I use GBoard as my primary keyboard however the native dictation button is still available without switching to the native keyboard if I desire. (There is a slight UI bug with this after activation and usage but it works well) Memoji is very fun to use and pretty vast for unique hairstyles and facial features. (think of it as if Bitmoji and Animoji had a baby) Haven't had a chance to test Group FaceTime yet but it seems to work well with all of the stickers etc. available after seeing a few reviews online. Stocks.app, Voice Memos, and Measure app work really well and are pleasing to the eye. Ability to add a secondary face to FaceID is available. I've found something under "Lookup" for a thesaurus option but have yet to make this work. That's all I have so far...open to any questions! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2018 05:27 PM PDT Yesterday (June 3rd) marked the 7 month anniversary with having my IPhone X. I am very satisfied. This is the best, most consistent phone that I've ever had. I find this phone better than the s9 plus that I used to have. I am still at 100% battery capacity. And there is no lag and no hiccups whatsoever. Still fast as can be, face ID is awesome. Storage (256gb) is more than enough. Music is great, so are videos. For anyone thinking about getting an X, I highly recommend it. You will still be ok even if the new iphones come out. Anyone that has had their iphone X awhile, share your experience and thoughts. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jun 2018 02:46 PM PDT So facing a problem where not saved numbers the line gets cut when I pick up the call but for saved numbers it gets picked up without dropping off . Got Truecaller installed but also tried it without it and still persists Need help to understand what is causing this issue [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jun 2018 01:39 PM PDT I am looking for a magnetic Qi mount for the CD slot of my car. does anyone know something? Currently I use the Grooveclip CD slot mount, which offers no charging function. [link] [comments]
Iphone X screen protector (either gorilla glass or thin film) Posted: 05 Jun 2018 08:47 AM PDT Worth it or a waste of money? It seem like the Iphone x glass front is highly resistant to scratching? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jun 2018 07:56 AM PDT I've seen through threads and posts about the display being yellowish tint even if True Tone and night shift mode off. I've tweaked the Color Shift in display accommodations to be slightly white to my liking. Intensity very little and hue close to 2/3. What about you? Or should I go back to default settings as out of box? Would iOS 12 fix this issue? I'm just a enthusiastic photographer. [link] [comments]

Be careful buying used iPhones with AppleCare+!! Posted: 04 Jun 2018 07:07 PM PDT I bought my iPhone X with AppleCare+ ($200 value) through craigslist. The transactions took place at the Apple Store to make sure everything went smoothly and they also confirmed the AppleCare+. Anyways, few weeks later I was curious and looked up the IMEI on Apple's website and the AppleCare+ was gone! After checking multiple times at different times, it turns out the AppleCare+ is Apple ID based, not hardware linked, and the remaining days could be transferred out to a compatible device or refunded. Apparently, the Genius Bar had very little knowledge of this occurrence but acknowledged the situation and basically told me they can't do crap about it, even after providing proof of purchase. Lesson? Don't be like me, orrr ask the seller to transfer the AppleCare+ to your ID - which I later found out is possible, it's actually a pretty hefty process. TL;DR: The iPhone seller can transfer out the AppleCare+ from your device, using their Apple ID. RIP $200 :/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2018 07:21 PM PDT When using a wireless charger, is it bad to pull the phone off and put it back down repeatedly? I just ordered a couple for my desk at work and around the house, and if im at work and I pick it up, put it down, up down multiple times is that bad for the battery? [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2018 04:54 PM PDT What do you guys think of the Official Reddit app? I know that there are several apps to view Reddit on for the iPhone X, but I was curious as to how good the actual Reddit app is. [link] [comments] |
