I bought a new MacBook Pro (15 inch; customized to full spec) two months ago. Then last Thursday, I was working on it until night, left it open on my desk, woke up to find it not powering on. I took it to an Apple Store. They first heard the symptoms from me, tried to turn it on, then said it might be some cable or hardware problem, and said they needed to examine it more closely. They spent an hour opening it up and examining in the back, then said it needs logic board replaced, and it's covered by warranty. I had left my laptop with them over the weekend, and they said they'll order the parts on Monday. On Monday, I received an email saying they concluded that the problem may be due to liquid damage, and said they'll fix my laptop if I pay $1,755.33. I responded immediately saying my laptop has never left my possession since I bought it until I left it for repair, and it has never experienced liquid spill. Then they responded saying it may be due to condensation over night.

| Posted: 05 Jun 2018 06:41 PM PDT Ok so I have a issue with my iPhone 7 in which voiceoverlte works only after I restart my phone. And then later all calls go through 3G. It's not the network as all the phones in my house ( iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, IPhone X) all get LTE calling. And we are on the same carrier. I've tried resetting the network settings and had my carrier to a switch reset but nothing has worked. The only fix is to restart my phone and turn it on and it works for a call or 2 and then calls afterwards go to 3G. I've been calling voicemail so it's not the problem with the people I call. | Photos gone, then back, then gone? Posted: 05 Jun 2018 06:24 PM PDT Long story short - had to get my iPhone replaced, and hadn't backed up since 2016. Oh well, I backup the 2016 phone. But when I open both Photos and Notes, it seems those were backed up to the cloud. Here's where I goofed -- I open photos, see my current 2018 photos, a message pops up about the Cloud and I excitedly click "yes" without reading it. But no! Now it's back to just the 2016 photos?! I opened Notes and the same thing happened, but this time I quickly, again without reading, hit "no" to the cloud thing, so I do still have my 2018 notes. What did I do to my photos though? | Help! Can’t stream using Airplay! Posted: 05 Jun 2018 06:19 PM PDT I can't stream from my iPhone 6s Plus using Airplay to my AppleTV 4th gen. I was steaming a movie on the TV app and I cut it off for a second to use the phone, and when I went to put the movie back on it wouldn't stream to the TV. My gf has a 7 and hers works just fine, but mine won't anymore. I've reset the phone and the appleTV and I've updated both to the most recent update. Occasional it'll pop up a message saying I can't play protected content to this screen, but I've never had a problem with that before and my gf is still able to stream movies purchased from iTunes, which is all I'm trying to do. A week ago my iPhone 5SE dropped out of my pocket on a rollercoaster, so it's most likely dead and definitely lost. Anyway my insurance let me get a copy of the phone and I'm setting it up right now but it won't let me log in to my iCloud because it requires a verification code that it sends to my old, dead phone. I went to Find my iPhone and I'm not sure if I should erase it just yet, and when I tried signing into Apple for tech support it requires another verification code, again. Anyone know what to do? I already bought an SSD for it, but ready somewhere randomly that someone said that with an SSD upgrade, a RAM upgrade may not be as necessary. Can't find the source on that now, but it mentioned something about the virtual memory. Anyway, just wanted to confirm if there's any truth in this. I think that these models also support 16gb of RAM unofficially. Should I go to that maxto future proof it as much as possible? [link] [comments]  |

I had this update for over a year, and recently my ipod has been rebooting randomly, it freezes the screen and shows glitches, then reboots, or sometimes it just reboots, messes with the clock, and WiFi doesn't work and connect properly... | Frequent lag(loading wheel) under normal use. Posted: 05 Jun 2018 02:12 PM PDT My Mac lags at times under normal use like web browsing or youtube. It will get the beachball(loading wheel) at random sometimes when typing or if I am watching a video then decide to scroll down the page it freezes also if I am typing it will freeze. These issues also happen when using other apps within the Mac, not just safari. I have a windows partition and when I use it there is no issues at all, so I doubt its a hardware issue. Also the Mac is not hot under normal use. I have run Sophos Anti-Virus to scan for issue and nothing out of the ordinary(just a couple of corrupt files that I've had for a long time.) I do have a lot of files in my Mac partition which makes Sophos slow but the last time I ran in it was faster than previous times in the same week and it never completes a scan because the Mac "crashes"(actually freezes) and I have to restart it to get it to work. Could it be a piece of malware that Sophos can't detect and it hidden running in the background? [link] [comments]  |

| My 2010 MacBook Pro booting issue Posted: 05 Jun 2018 03:04 PM PDT During one of its slow moments, (I had a handful of windows open) it started chugging and taking forever, so I restarted it. Now when I boot, I get this symbol 🚫 then it goes back to the Apple logo, then back to 🚫 I tried CMD+R on boot, but the screen stays white, I held the buttons down for a solid 3 minutes and nothing happened. I tried the Options, CMD, R and P booting for a few times. Then I got a file logo with a question mark on. One point it tried internet assistance (I think that's what it was called) it asked for my WiFi, started loading, but then failed. Error -2100. I'm gonna have to take to a professional, and I'm probably gonna have to pay money. My main question is, will I loose all my stuff? Cheers in advance. [link] [comments]  |
| Questions about Safari caching on iPad Pro Posted: 05 Jun 2018 12:10 PM PDT When I had an iPad Air 2 I kept quite a few tabs open in Safari, and when I would click a link and a page would load, I could just swipe back to my original page and I'd be exactly where I was. It was one of my favorite features of Safari and why I used it over Chrome. Now I have an iPad Pro 10.5, and when I click a page from a link in Safari, then swipe back to the previous page it reloads the whole page. Is there a way to turn this off? I really don't want the entire page to reload every time I go back. For instance when I'm surfing reddit and I click and link and go back, it brings me to the top of the page and reloads all the content. [link] [comments]  |

Anyways one day he went to log on and it had these weird/random characters when you typed on the keyboard so we couldn't log on. Idk how i managed to fuck this part up but when trying to repair it, it failed and now im stuck on the folder flashing screen. Most forums ive read say to hit the option/control key along with a lettered key but i can't even get that to work. Ill restart computer holding down the suggested keys, nothing happens and it goes back to the flashing folder. I was going to attempt to make a bootable usb on my windows computer, with linux puppy. Would this even work? I know from what I've read it takes a few hours to format the usb and get it ready for a mac. But im more concerned about doing all that and it not even booting up because "option +R" "cmd/option +r" is not working. Any advice? After getting out of it then going back to listening to Apple Music, it told me the Apple ID was only available in the US. | Late 2009 Mac Mini optical drive issues Posted: 05 Jun 2018 02:00 PM PDT Some time ago I can remember having not managed to have the "superdrive"(?) recognise a CD I wanted to rip... Now I am trying to back up my medical records given to me by my Dr on CD and it just doesn't seem to appear / co-operate. 1st thing I tried was to insert the disc from the Dr. OSX 10.10.5 said "what would you like me to do with this empty disc?" GREAT! (I thought) as at least it knows there is a disc... it probably can't read medical files. I downloaded what Drs use for looking at their patients MRI/Xray scans etc (Surgimap for those interested) and so now I should be able to insert disc and load any data in that software... But the disc doesn't auto-open data in that app... In Surgimap there is a set of weird file browser windows - none of which has an optical drive listed alongside Desktop, Home, Download, ExtUSBName... So I can't find the optical drive source that way either... I was hoping to troubleshoot if OSX itself thinks the drive works and so work up and up until I just associate this type of disc with the software and horray... I just don't know how to get that far. TLDR Q: How to troubleshoot Late 2009 Mac Mini on OSX 10.10.5 optical drive. Can't see it in finder or any software. Finder settings set to show optical drives but it doesn't show. Thanks in advance! I hate carrying stuff in my backpack, so, I would love to be able to stop carrying the usb-c charger. It's a shame that the charger itself cost 120 usd (here in Chile, and they won't come with the usb cable :/). I have read that, apple magsafe and usb-c aren't only a voltage transformer, they have more stuff's inside, so, are there some third party transformer you guys would recommend? [link] [comments]  |
| Need help with saving pictures from broken mac book pro Posted: 05 Jun 2018 03:52 PM PDT Hello, So long story short, my girlfriend broke her late 2013 macbook pro from spilling some water on the keyboard. It doesnt turn on, but she wants to save the pictures that were stored on it. Can someone give me some guidance in what to do? I already opened up her mac to take out the hard drive, but it turns out her model has an SSD card instead. Is my next step to buy an SSD enclosure, put her ssd in it, and then plug that into a working computer? I found one online that matches the pin outs. I would just buy it and test it out, but they cost around 100 bucks and I dont wanna spend that money just to find out it doesn't work like that. Sometimes its ok but if there's any bit of outside noise I can't understand the other person at all. I went to a local repair shop and the guy tried 3 different speakers, and the problem persisted. He said it's most likely a problem with the audio chip on the motherboard. I have no idea if thats true or not. Has anyone else come across something like this? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 12:36 PM PDT I have an appointment at a genius bar to get it checked out, and the Apple rep said they would determine if the problem was covered under warranty. I'm really hoping so, so I'm checking here to see if anyone else has heard of this problem. I see a lot online about iPhone X's overheating, but I haven't seen anything about screen damage. It wasn't even a very warm day, probably 80 degrees, and I only left it in the sun for about 10 minutes. I've done more with other iPhones and never had them overheat. Thanks for any help.
