I accidentally sat on my Apple TV (4th gen) remote. A notification box showed up saying I took a screenshot and to hold for 6 seconds for analysis. I can't figure out how I did this. Couldn't find on Google. Anyone know how this works?

Android User Looking at Apple TV for cutting cord.

I am looking at cutting the cord and want the best device possible so my first thought was ATV. If I am going to have a device for TV, I don't mind splurging on price. All the reviews I've seen recommend Roku but price is factored into that so I wanted to consult the ATV community.

I know there are benefits to having an iPhone with ATV (AirPlay and such) but for an Android user, will it basically be like a faster Roku? I don't want to splurge and have a lack of features that impairs my experience.

Hoping someone can provide insight on their experience ATV vs Roku vs Fire TV as well as fill me in on how having an Android phone might effect my experience.

Itunes and movies

Im not a big movie watcher, and ive never been into apple products. But im really enjoying my AppleTV 4k.

Can you tell me about buying movies and using iTunes?

I did do a google search earlier for a movie I like(im in my 40s and like westerns and war movies) called Jeremiah Johnson. The search was odd in that the movie didnt show HD for US, but other countries have it available in HD.

Besides that movie, Im not sure about the whole buy HD and itll upgrade to 4k thing. Or buying other places and it shows up in iTunes.

If you could give me tips or anything id surely appreciate it. Thanks.

Netflix app won't let me login on tvos 12

I know I am running a beta and all my other apps work, however I can't login to netflix on my tv4K. Anyone else been able to use netflix on tvos? I even deleted the app from my tv and reinstalled it.

On screen text looks generic

I don't know if I'm describing the issue correctly, but whenever there is on-screen text (like when a scene starts in a new location: "New York City, NY" etc...) it just shows the default subtitle text (white letters translucent black background) instead of the stylized text that the movie or show intended to display. Anybody have this issue/know of a resolution?

Can I force Apple TV 4 to take a video stream from Airplay and not connect itself to the source?

For the World Cup I use a VPN to get a stream from home (currently abroad). Works fine on iPad, iPhone and Desktop. There's no app for the VPN provider on Apple TV though and my router doesn't provide VPN connectivity.

So, I am wondering if it would work, to force-Airplay the video stream to the TV. Whenever I try, the TV takes over the stream, but is not in the VPN and it fails to load.

I already tried to reduce Apple TV to just WiFi, no internet. Didn't work, it still tries to load it itself.

Can I force somehow Apple TV to take the stream from the iDevice?

Or any other device? I'd get a compatible router, but they start at 50 and I dont have the time to wait for a lucky deal on ebay.

On that site it says:

If you buy an eligible movie from the iTunes Store in 4K, HDR, or Dolby Vision, you will be able to watch a matching quality version from a Movies Anywhere reciprocal service1 (as long the same movie is available in 4K, HDR, or Dolby Vision from the reciprocal service1).

OK, so if I buy a 4K movie from Apple, the 4K propagates to Movies Anywhere, meaning I can watch the 4K on Vudu. Great.

But then it says:

If you buy an eligible movie from the iTunes Store in HD that is later upgraded to 4K, HDR, or Dolby Vision, you might not be able to watch the matching higher-quality version through a Movies Anywhere reciprocal service (but you will still be able to watch the HD version).

If I buy a HD movie from Apple and it later gets auto-upgraded to 4K, does the 4K propagate to Movies Anywhere? The key phrase that gives me uncertainty is "you might not", meaning maybe yes and maybe no!

So I'd like to ask you guys, has anyone here bought a HD movie from Apple that got auto-upgraded to 4K and have seen that movie get propagated to Movies Anywhere and can watch the 4K version on Vudu?

Quick question about the Apple TV

Before I get it, I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions:

Does the new beta support Atmos on Netflix? I know very few devices have Atmos support on Netflix (Xbox, LG TVs).
Furthermore, does 5.1 work on Prime Video now? I heard it only worked in stereo.
Also, has Apple said whether or not apps like Vudu will also support Dolby Vision and Atmos?

AMC problems on AppleTV4

The playback in the AMC app is absolutely horrible a lot of ghosting and stutter during pan's, I don't know what I am doing wrong but every other app works just fine.

Any ideas? I have match framerate enabled but AMC doesn't seem to support it.

Audio Stutter on All Apps

I've had a 4th gen for four months. Connected to router with an Ethernet cable. An issue has cropped up in the last few weeks.

When I start it up from sleep, or from off, the audio stutters constantly for a few minutes. Any app - Netflix, Prime, DirectTV. Usually clears up eventually. As far as I know, I've changed nothing about my setup or settings.

Any help? Thanks!

How does Check Cable work

I have Apple TV 4K and whenever I use the Check Cable command I get a black screen for a while and then a screen that say if you have clear picture click OK. I have tried several HDMI cables and use HDMI 1 on Samsung UHD tv with UHD Color turned on for that HDMI port.

Is the black screen expected? is it the screen after the black screen that should look OK with no artifacts?

Fox Sports Go not signing into TV provider

Every little bit I have to re-sign into tv provider but now I am unable to. When I click sign in or a stream that requires signing in for a split second a loading screen pops up but then goes away. I've tried force closing app, rebooting ATV, and deleting app and reinstalling. Reinstalling gets me further; asks to allow/deny access to provider but then does nothing. The ATV is connected via Ethernet and will play clips that don't require signing in (and no issues with other apps) so shouldn't be connectivity issue. Other Fox apps work. I have another ATV (on WiFi) that needed to be re-signed in at the same time but isn't having this issue.
