iPhone X Users: Use Memoji as contact photos Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:27 PM PDT I think it looks better than the default contact photo placeholder, and is more dynamic looking than just a circular frame. [link] [comments] |
Apple pay in Poland - 200k in 10 days, Google pay - 300k in 1.5 year Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:07 AM PDT We just got the first numbers for Apple Pay users count. Before I share them, let me introduce you to market shares of iOS and Android in Poland: 95~% - Android 2.32% - iOS Statistics says, that there are 64% users of Smartphones in Poland, which would translate these numbers in: 22.800.000 Android users 556.800 iOS users Android pay (now Google pay) has been introduced somewhere in 2016 (roughly 1.5 year ago), gaining 300k users. EDIT: Just for clarity, Google allows for HEC, which means banks can use NFC to support their payments. Counting these in, its 1mln, still much, much lower than how Apple solution adopted! Apple pay, introduced 10 days ago, has a reported user count from 175k to around 200k. This is really huge and really shows a HUGE adoption rate for iOS (almost 50%!!) and almost none for Android (1.31%). Hopefully Apple will notice us more now, we're still lacking Siri support and official apple store lol Source (use google translate lol) https://www.tabletowo.pl/2018/06/29/apple-pay-statystyki-uzytkownicy/ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:57 PM PDT Here's the final result: https://imgur.com/a/CUdO3oS We went to a photo studio and had them framed, glass on the front and everything. The back side can be opened so we can change the picture on display every few days. We bought 6ft 30-pin cable extensions to feed them permanent power. Some pictures of the process inside. The Siri shortcuts in iOS 12 finally gives Apple a slight chance to better their AI Posted: 29 Jun 2018 01:19 PM PDT Although it feels like Apple has kind of given up on an anthropomorphic AI assistant, this might be the start of something good. Siri hasn't been able to do anything because there hasn't been a way to enforce its learning. E.g what does it mean to "play my latest song but on low volume"? To Siri, nothing because it's not a scripted command. I'm not sure if Apple will use people's shortcuts to teach Siri on their servers. But if they do, it could be a quick way to give Siri great powers. In the future, if I say "Save my location in Notes" there will most likely already be a scripted command for that because someone else amongst the hundred of millions of people out there created a shortcut for that. What do you name your devices? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:28 PM PDT I always try to name my devices uniquely. A lot of my friends, however, just leave them at default. I was wondering how(and what) everyone names their devices. I'll start with my device names. My iPhone is Corvo, iPad is Alloy and Mac is Altair. P.S. any cool names for your AirPods, I recently got a pair but am a bit confused about naming them. [link] [comments] |

Apple Music needs music video improvements to really take it to the next level Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:09 PM PDT I'm a Apple Music subscriber, I like it, but when I want to see a music video I always default to YouTube. The reason is Apple Music has a really poor video discovery page like many other music streaming services. You have to dig in the discover page and its not all that good. I would love to have Apple Music have a music video tab with a YouTube/vevo style interface to help you find and search for videos. Also, when a song you have in your library has a music video also in AM, I would love a play video button on the now playing and album view. These small touches would get me to watch more content on Apple Music [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:18 PM PDT Has there been any news on whether or not Apple will be releasing any new MacBooks in the near future? I'm wagering on whether or not to wait out on buying one now if they're going to be coming out with a new model [link] [comments] |
I bought a 2nd hand iPod 6th Gen and Apple said it's an iPod 7th Gen Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:41 AM PDT Apple sent me an email that my Apple ID logged in to an Apple iPod Touch 7th Generation. Sign of the times? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:00 AM PDT Since the release of iOS 11, I've hesitating of updating my iPhone 6s Plus from iOS 10 to iOS 11. I've read about numerous bugs and the draining of battery consumption since the release, but I assume these things have improved since then. So I ask iPhone 6 users how's iOS 11? Does it run smooth? Is it time for me to make the jump from iOS 10 to iOS 11? [link] [comments] |

Difference between two seemingly identical MacBook models? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 12:17 AM PDT I'm about to purchase a late 2016 MacBook Pro. But I've found 2 models that seem the same, but are slightly different pricing. They're different order numbers, so I'm lead to believe they have different configurations, but I can't find the difference. Can anyone fill me in? The order numbers are MLH42LL & MLW82LL The MLW model is more expensive, but it has an integrated GPU as opposed to the MLH model which has a dedicated GPU. So I don't see how that makes sense.
