We aren't getting new iPads, are we.

    Posted: 24 May 2018 07:52 AM PDT

June 2018 is not looking good for iPad release from where I am sitting. It's close to a previous major launch, there is only a tiny track record for iPad releases at WWDC, the A12 chip is just barely starting mass production, and I don't think display tech is quite ready for mass production of big, tablet sized edge to edge displays the way Apple wants them. Still holding out hope (and my wallet.) Thoughts?

    iPad Pro 10.5 storage size??

    Posted: 24 May 2018 10:11 AM PDT

I've decided to get an iPad Pro 10.5 inch for college and I'm torn between 64 GB and 256 GB.

I'm thinking I can make 64 GB work because I have 64 GB iPhone with thousands of songs and pictures and I still have 10GB left but I don't want storage to be an issue in the future for my iPad.

I'm planning on mainly using it for note taking (looking at GoodNotes and Notability right now) and pdf reading with some digital art (not an artist but I enjoy playing around with apps like photoshop on my laptop so I'm pretty sure I'll be the same here) and occasional video watching.

    iPad 2018 + Pencil

    Posted: 24 May 2018 04:32 AM PDT

So first of all I know this is askes alot of Times and I'm sorry to ask it again, but I hope ima get some answers here.

I own a iPad 4 (First Retina Display iPad) and i thinking about to upgrade it with the iPad 2018.

I heard alot of nice things about the new iPad 2018 but heard some bad things either.

    - Is the unlaminated display really a big deal? Same as with the noises from the Display (heard it felt/sound cheap).

    - Is the sound even worse with the Apple Pencil?

So do you Guys think a Upgrade + Apple Pencil is nessacary for these things:

    -> social media

-> want to start digital drawing (dont have any skills but want to learn with Procreate + Pencil)

    -> Youtube, Netflix

-> Don't want to replace my MacBook or anything, just an upgrade.

So what do you Guys recommend me, just stay with my iPad? Or upgrade it to the 2018 iPad with Pencil?

    Thanks for you help guys!

Presentations on iPad (Pro)- How do you do it?

    Posted: 24 May 2018 08:07 AM PDT

First off, Hi! Long time reddit lurker, first post. =) I recently got a 10.5 iPP. To be clear, I didn't expect this to be a laptop replacement, but intended to use it fully as a tablet. I travel a lot for work - international sales and team training around the world. Up until now, in my bag I've got an XPS13, mobile phone, and an e-ink Kindle reader (great on the long flights).

The truth is, though, that the iPP (and phone) can do nearly everything I need when traveling. When traveling, most of the work is phone calls, meeting notes, occasional Excel file viewing (never editing), PDF viewing, light email. The only caveat is presentations - I usually have to hook up to a conference room TV/projector.

Aside from a dongle, has anybody tried any universal AirPlay dongles? Maybe one that could be powered from a battery pack? Or is the best bet a dongle? I usually travel with just a small back-pack, exchanging the XPS/laptop brick charger/kindle for the iPP is appealing, but not necessary. Thoughts? Thanks!

    C Compiler for the iPad?

Is there a usable C compiler for the iPad? So far I tried a few but none of them really seemed to be well engineered. Any suggestions?

Looking For Lined Paper PDF For Notability

    Posted: 24 May 2018 01:35 PM PDT

The lines in the lined paper for notability are either way too narrow or way too wide. I'm looking for solution in the form of a pdf to compensate until they update this (if ever). I just need lined paper that's not huge but just big enough to reasonably hand write on, and fit the width of the ipad 9.7 screen so i don't have to zoom.

Is the new 2018 iPad 9.7 worth an upgrade from the iPad 2?

    Posted: 24 May 2018 09:42 AM PDT

I've had the iPad 2 since late 2011, and it still works pretty well, despite the occasional lag if I'm doing too much on it. The fact it can't get software updates past iOS 9.3 has me a little worried as to how long it will still work well for.

After the new iPad was announced a couple of months ago, I was considering upgrading to one. Combined with the pencil, it seems like a good way to take notes during lectures, and hopefully a good way of cutting down on the mountain of paper I use currently.

From what I've seen online, the main concerns with the 2018 model are the lack of laminated display, and the older Touch ID system. Coming from the iPad 2 I don't imagine the display being noticeable, and the Touch ID is the same as I have on my iPhone 6 so I can't see that being noticeably slow either. The only major concern I have in that regard is the possible glare on the screen.

The storage is a bit of a issue for me though, as I feel like 32GB would be too small after a while, but I'm not sure if 128GB is worth the extra £90, especially if I'll be buying the pencil for £89. I'd be eligible for the student discount, but I don't think it's a huge difference.

People who have the new iPad, and people who use iPads for note taking at uni, is it worth the upgrade, or should I just continue as I've been doing before? I got one of the new MacBooks last year for my major work, so I would only really use the iPad for note taking and general tablet use.

    Thanks :)

Could apple launch an ipad pro pen display like device for artists and creatives?

    Posted: 24 May 2018 12:31 PM PDT

It is nothing new that lots, LOTS of artists use an ipad pro as their main work device as well as sketchpads, it was a massive success in the creative industry.

The rumors says a new ipad pro is coming at WWDC 2018 along with a new apple pen. With that in mind, I really think apple could be working on a pen display version of its ipad pro, a 16+ inch device you can plug in a Mac and use it to make art, just like the wacom cintiqs, but using just one thunderbolt 3 cable to data and power.

With a new rumored Mac mini coming too, I think a big ipad pro and a mac mini would make a powerful art station.

What do you think? how possible would be that? Just want to know opinions or aditional info I didnt know about the matter.

Difficulty transferring videos from iPad (2018)

    Posted: 24 May 2018 09:46 AM PDT

I have some videos I've recorded using my iPad. But for some reason, it's been kinda tricky to transfer them to my computer (Windows 10). When attempting a copy paste on the videos, I would often get an error pop up of some kind. Before I installed iTunes, it was "The device is unreachable", now it's "A device attached to the system is not functioning". I have the iPad connected to a USB port on the back of the CPU, the problem exists for both front and rear USB ports.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? (excluding switching the "Transfer to Mac or PC" setting to Keep Originals, that method has sometimes led to a sorta corrupted video)

Questions about keyboard for 12.9” iPad Pro

    Posted: 24 May 2018 07:35 AM PDT

    Hey everyone!

So I've been using a 12.9" iPad Pro as my daily portable driver for a while now and I absolutely love it. They keyboard is crucial to being able to use it as a laptop replacement, and lately I've been feeling like the Smart Keyboard isn't as great as it was when I first got it. I'm looking for recommendations for a better designed keyboard. Maybe something that's a little more ergonomic when being used on the lap or something that helps hold the iPad at various angles. I appreciate any recommendations!

iPad 2018 vs iPad Pro 10.5 vs iPad Pro 12.9 for drawing

    Posted: 24 May 2018 06:25 AM PDT

I am a beginner. I want to become a professional digital artist.

Although I'll be mainly learning on paper, I want to also draw on graphics tablet from early on.

iPad Pro 12.9 can substitute for wacom cintiq if I don't mind using Procreate for sketching and painting. iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad 2018 are smaller. iPad 2018's screen is not laminated and is less powerful, so I should expect a bit of parallax and lag. According to a youtube review, iPad 2018 is 90% as good as iPad Pro in terms of drawing experience.

I'm also looking forward to iPad Pro X which will be released next month.

Photo's - Is it me? Or is Photo's seriously lacking in organizing photo's?

    Posted: 24 May 2018 01:15 AM PDT

Just seems so cumbersome. As will select 25 or 50 images from desktop computer to upload to iCloud Photos. Then they get sorted out all over the place based on exif of date taken?

I don't want that. I want to organize photos My Way!

Is there a way to group photos. Especially if I want to create a Slideshow with music. Then it only creates for whatever photos grouped by date and can't add to it? or include or pic or choose what and how many photos in Slideshow?

I mean there is Create an Album but that is all?

Any App that will apply or change Photos organization?

Or App that allows me to organize Photos My Way?

    Thanks!

Have any of you ever come across a really nice looking tablet stand for your iPad?

I'm trying to find the ideal stand, but so far haven't found any that look as smart as I'd like.

Funny question: Is there an external mouse I can get for my iPad pro?

    Posted: 23 May 2018 04:18 PM PDT

I know most people are all about the touchscreen, but I would like to get a mouse if possible. I would mostly just use it to play Fallout Shelter, much more fun with a mouse for me.
