iTunes won’t let me re-download music Posted: 30 May 2018 04:26 PM PDT Like, I can go to the albums I paid for on iTunes but there's no option to re-download them. It just says "PURCHASED" but won't do anything else. [link] [comments] |
Privacy Response Team Reply Email Posted: 30 May 2018 07:02 PM PDT Hey people; I was wondering if anyone had also requested a copy of the information that Apple has on their accounts. I requested one, and I was asked by the privacy team to provide them with this set of information:
The email looks to be legit (email being sent from [privacy_response@apple.com](/)) but I still wanted to make sure that this was a legit email before moving forward with providing them with the information. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 08:24 PM PDT So tomorrow I'm getting my first iPhone and I'm super excited, but I wanted to know if I would be about to move my current texts from my current OnePlus phone to the iPhone thanks! [link] [comments] |
Black screen after wake from sleep Posted: 30 May 2018 09:11 PM PDT I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) that has been fussy lately. Granted...it's been fussy since I first got it, but the apple store ran various diagnostics on it and found nothing. Just lots of strange crashes. Wiping the computer and starting clean seemed to fix the problems for a time. But once again, they've returned. I recently purchased a second monitor, and ever since I connected the thing the computer has a black screen when I wake it from sleep. The computer itself feels like it's running, I just can't do anything. Usually, I have to force a restart. *Once I restart, the computer starts normally. The little white apple logo pops up and everything is peachy. I've found various posts online with the black screen issue, just never seen anyone mention the problem happening after plugging in a second monitor. I've looked around online for various fixes. None of which have done anything. I've just now reset SMC, NVRAM.... so I guess I'll see what happens now that I've done that. If that doesn't work...I guess that's why I'm here. Any suggestions I could try if the reset doesn't fix the issue? Have a feeling I'll be wiping the damn thing AGAIN. *edited for clarification. [link] [comments] |
Phone got water damage, how do I back it up? Posted: 30 May 2018 08:47 PM PDT Hi all, I recently got pretty bad water damage on my iPhone 7 plus, and I just got a replacement today. The screen is broken (like it's black) and I am pretty sure the phone still works, just no screen. I haven't tried plugging it in though, so I will double check. Is there a way for me to backup my photos? Can I access the HDD by taking it apart and somehow getting my stuff onto a drive? I have to send it back for insurance purposes, and I really want to get my photos off of there, and it is required that I back it up. Do I go to a 3rd party cell phone shop and get it repaired? What do I do before I send it back wiped? Like, where I am at now, I cannot send it back. It has all my stuff and my pass code on it. Insurance has already been claimed on it, so I am thinking of just taking apart the iPhone, and keeping the HDD, to see what I can do with it. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Should i pay for this iMac GPU Heat Sink repair? Posted: 30 May 2018 07:51 PM PDT They said i'd have to replace the whole logic board or something for like $650. But that i could wait until it completely stopped working and run the risk of parts inside expanding from the heat Apparently after they replaced my failed HD, they ran tests and the heat sink failed a test. Then it passed it for some reason. So they gave the computer back to me. Then it sounded like the HD was making a weird noise every once in a while when asleep so i took it back to them. I recently made a post in this sub which details that more if it matters. No one commented on it :P Basically they mentioned that failed test but didnt think it could be relevant so didnt retest. Then they gave their opinion which turned out to be wrong so i brought the computer back again. This time one technician thought the failed test could be relevant to the noise i was hearing, so ran the gpu heat sink test again. This time it failed so they took the computer to run more tests and here we are [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 07:29 PM PDT Looking to see if people's phones match up to what I experience today in a car my iPhone X get pretty warm underneath camera when I got out and was able to check the temp with a thermometer it was 90 degrees this was just idling in my truck with the ac on. I can easily make both my iPhone X and 7 ramp up over this with just general usage. This is under the camera Is 90 degrees to warm for idling? Roughly 78 degrees here today. All of this is in Fahrenheit also what temp is your phone f you can check for me. Any thermometer will work. [link] [comments] |
Create hotspot with wifi only iPad and ethernet connection? Posted: 30 May 2018 07:10 AM PDT Hey guys, was hoping someone could help me figure out if this is possible. I am currently studying abroad in Singapore and I was previously using my ethernet connected Macbook as a hotspot to connect my phone to wifi while in my dorm room (the dorm does not have wifi). My Macbook's motherboard just crapped out so I recently purchased some adapters to hook up an ethernet cord to my wifi only iPad. This has been working and I am able to get internet access on my iPad with the ethernet connection. Is there anyway to now turn my iPad into a hotspot so I can get wifi on my iPhone? Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Upgrade from 11.2.5 to 11.3.1? and Question re: GPS issues on Google Maps. Posted: 30 May 2018 06:46 PM PDT I have an iPhone 6S 128 gb and I already did the battery replacement through apple. I'm currently on ios 11.2.5 and got the reminder to download ios 11.3.1. Do I do it? I'm super hesitant as everything I've read hasn't been all that positive. for the GPS issues, I can't seem to find a solution. Every time I hook up my GPS on my phone with Google Maps and hit the start directions button it stays frozen to my starting location and doesn't update itself. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
All apps "damaged or incomplete" after High Sierra Update - 2017 13" MBA Posted: 30 May 2018 06:16 PM PDT So I bought it three weeks ago. Everything has been just fine. An hour ago, I decided to let it do all the updates. Pages, iMovie, iTunes, and the High Sierra security update. It's currently running version 10.13.4 I let it do it's thing and since it rebooted, none of the icons on my dock are showing up properly, just the "picture, pencil, paintbrush ruler" icon thing. None of them will run, they all come up as "damaged or incomplete." I tried googling it and nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can do before just reformatting and reinstalling? Font Book. Trying to identify corrupt font files to remove. Posted: 30 May 2018 06:12 PM PDT Hi there, I'm currently getting the spinning wheel when opening Font Book. From what I've read, it might have something to do with regarding corrupt fonts. Any idea how to recognise a corrupt font file in Finder? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Unresponsive touch screen on iPhone 6? Posted: 30 May 2018 05:44 PM PDT For about the past month, the screen on my iPhone (which I have had for 2 and a half years, up to iOS 10.something) would sporadically become unresponsive to touch, while the physical home button still works. The screen itself would not be frozen, because tilting it still caused the slight shift in the wallpaper. This would happen sporadically, and it used to go away simply by turning the screen on and off again, but in the last few weeks, not even a forced restart will always work. The time that the screen would be like this has increased to hours or days. Has anyone seen a problem like this before? Is it more likely hardware or software? [link] [comments] |
Trying to fix a 2010 MacbBookPro Posted: 30 May 2018 01:39 PM PDT I noticed that a friend of mine had a broken MacBook the other night and I figured I would give repairing it a shot to see if it was salvageable. I just have a few questions about all of this before I start going nuts buying parts and such for it. To start here are the observable issues.
Now I took the under plate off and it doesn't seem to be to complex to take apart, but I want to make sure of a few things. My questions are:
Any help here would be great as this is the first time in a while that I am messing around with hardware like this. [link] [comments] |
Hard drive on water damaged macbook air Posted: 30 May 2018 04:59 PM PDT I have a water damaged MBA that I want to sell on ebay for parts. I was going to sell it without the hard drive just in case, so the buyer couldn't access any of my info stored on there. However after trying to take it apart, I realized the screws on the back are stripped.. I've tried everything I could think of/found on google but still cant get a couple of them out. Is there any other way to ensure my info is safe from the hard drive? Id really like to sell it, as I need the money, but not at the risk of giving a random person all my information that was on the laptop. [link] [comments] |
Seagate Hard drive not showing up on Mac Posted: 30 May 2018 04:48 PM PDT I was watching a movie today and my computer and hard drive fell. Nothing major, just a few feet. Anyway, my computer closed and my external hard drive fell out. Keeping my fingers crossed, I plugged it back in and kept watching my movie. For the first couple minutes everything was fine. Then the movie froze and VLC wouldn't close. I force quit it and tried to eject my hard drive. It did the fading thing that it does before it ejects, but nothing happened. It starts whirring and beeping. I try to open another folder and the contents won't load. I got worried and tried to restart my computer. My computer started fine, but now the hard drive won't pop up anywhere that I can find. It still lights up and starts spinning like it's supposed to, but nothings happening. I'd really appreciate any help. I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) and a Seagate Portable External Hard Drive USB. [link] [comments] |
Can I upgrade my Macbook pro (mid-2012) to make it faster? - or should i upgrade Posted: 30 May 2018 07:19 AM PDT I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) and it's been pretty slow and laggy lately and am considering upgrading to a newer model. I have read that upgrading RAM can help speed it up but am not too familiar with the topic and it also appears that 8 GB is the limit for my model? My mac has a 2.9GHz dual-core and 8 GB memory, with a 1 TB SATA disk hard drive that has about 900GB of storage left (I dropped it last year and had to replace hard drive with this). Any suggestions and tips are appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Second dead hardrive in two months (Macbook pro 15" Retina mid-2014) Posted: 30 May 2018 03:41 PM PDT Hi, I recently posted here due to the original SSD in my macbook pro dying (the drive was sometimes bootable but would freeze, mostly I'd get a folder icon but could still set the boot drive and repeat the freezing process, but could extract all my files off of it). Eventually with help from this board, I deduced it was just an SSD failure and so I bought an OWC replacement drive. I installed it, it was working completely fine for the past month, then yesterday, the computer froze and never started up again (boots to a long period of black, then to the folder icon). The drive is completely invisible - I never got it to boot, its not on the boot drive list, and it'll never get to the OS like last time (which also means it looks like my files will be gone this time). I repeated the process of deducing it's the hard drive by booting via an external drive - it's currently working fine with an old drive via USB (though a period of black screen on startup.... not sure if that's the laptop searching for the drive in the machine first?? confusing). What is going on??? Does this indicate that my laptop is somehow killing the drives, or am I just having incredibly bad luck? I want to get a replacement drive but will it just die again??? I'm completely at a loss and would appreciate any advice you could give. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2018 03:27 PM PDT EDIT: I fixed it!! I just reinstalled the operating system and it resolved itself. That was very very weird. Hi. I have a 2013 13 inch macbook pro with retina display. Recently, I cleaned by trackpad by briefly wiping it with a lysol wipe, something I have done successfully many times before (and something internet searches have indicated is fine... that could be wrong). Afterwards, the trackpad didn't work. An SMC and NVRAM reset fixed half the problem—I could again move the arrow around—but clicking still didn't work. I turned on MouseKeys in the accessibility settings to navigate around and change some settings. The weird part is that when I turned on "tap to click" in the trackpad settings, clicks still didn't register. Even when I plugged in a USB mouse, the left click just didn't work at all (the right click worked fine, somehow). I don't know enough about how the click registration works to troubleshoot this problem or even know whether it is hardware or software related. But I was certainly very confused when the USB mouse showed the same issue as the trackpad. Is this a problem that could even be caused by a tiny bit of liquid entering the edge of the trackpad? Or is something else wrong? [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) - Upgrade? Posted: 30 May 2018 03:16 PM PDT Hi Everyone! Today the company I'm currently consulting for gave me a MBP 13/2017/8GB/256GB for me to work with. I had been using my MBAir and it was taking a bit of battering, but still going strong. (2014 | 1.7 GHz, 8GB and 500GB SSD) The CEO just went out and bought it, however it turns out that it's not the sort of spec I need for graphic design, editing and some other goodies that I use during work. He however was quite chuffed though. I couldn't knock that and be a dick about things. The thing is though, a quick check online tells me that I cannot upgrade the RAM or SSD. Is this true? Many thanks in advance! EDIT 1: Wow, I am actually very disappointed in this particular model. I have just been setting it up and putting it through some mild testing and really, it's in my opinion, below par. The fan kicks in way too quickly, and with only a few tabs open on either Safari, Firefox or Chrome, I don't get the feeling that very much has changed for me at all. Granted that the processor is quicker and I like the keyboard, but as for the rest of it, this is quite a disappointing piece of kit from Apple. I hope I can return this and get an upgraded version, because for my needs, this simply won't do right now. :( EDIT 2: I am so saddened to say that this is the absolute worst "upgrade" that I have ever experienced from Apple. This laptop is truly over priced for what it delivers. Looks good, but does little else than that. I really am disappointed with Apple. For all my 20+ years of buying their equipment, this must be without doubt, the absolute worst experience I have ever had with them. The performance of this system is so underwhelming, that they should feel ashamed to be pushing this equipment for the premium that they charge. My strong suggestion is that unless you can afford to buy the best that they have to offer, you're better off going with a PC. Shocking, I know, but for the price, this is pathetic to say the very least! My longserving MacBook Air outperforms what is in essence a 3 / 4 year upgrade and it truly is shocking. I am blown away by the lack of performace of this system. The improved processor speed barely compensates for all the other severely lacking flaws in this machine. Do not buy this system unless you need to do word processing. What a con! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 6s battery dropped from 48% to completely dead in 30 minutes. Posted: 30 May 2018 02:48 PM PDT I've been having problems keeping my phone charged a full day for a few months now. This last week the battery has been absolutely terrible and every solution recommends doesn't seem to make a difference. I've turned off background refresh for every app. I've tuned off Bluetooth. When I check the battery usage in settings it's showing that apps which are opened for less than 2 hours are using up 45% of my battery. My battery health still says I should be at 84% maximum capacity but I used to be able to go all day and not even hit 20%. Is there any Hail Mary solutions I can try before I drop Apple? Best way to increase my Macbook Pro's performance without making any new purchases. Posted: 30 May 2018 02:33 PM PDT I have a MacBook Pro (model early 2011) that I now refer to as old reliable. Back in October my hard drive cable shit the bed and was replaced. After that I moved everything important onto an external drive. During that time I also purchased a chromebook so now all I really want/need my Macbook to do is run Logic Pro and iMovie to the best of its ability. What are the best options to increase its speeds without purchasing an SSD? It's my understanding that I can't run Logic or iMovie from the external so what can I move to the external that will allow it to run better? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 May 2018 01:58 PM PDT I have a bit of a dilemma. My work 2009 MBP is ready for an upgrade, and my boss told me I could get an new MBP. The catch: I know WWDC is right around the corner on June 4, but I have to place the order today or tomorrow because our fiscal year ends on 5/31 (non-negotiable) and there won't likely be a budget for it next year.
