How do I log out of “Podcasts”?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 02:17 PM PDT

    iPhone 6+

How can I log out of the "Podcasts" app on iPhone? No matter what I do, I still share the Podcasts with my mom's account. This is frustrating because I can not listen to things or it will mark hers as "listened".

I've already tried going to Settings> iTunes and App Store, and changing the Apple ID. I've tried three different apple IDs (my moms, mine, and my fiancé's.) I've also tried deleting and reinstalling the app.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Simultaneous issues with both wifi and display?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 10:22 PM PDT

I awoke this morning to a screen flickering off and on, with flashes of banding artifacts on my mid-2014 MacBook pro. I restarted, and it stopped, but when charging I would close the display and it wouldn't turn off. So using the same computer I looked up how to reset the NVRAM and SMC. Before doing so, I restarted again, and lo, my wifi also stopped working, saying "no hardware installed". I reset the nvram and SMC (twice, for good measure) but still no wifi, and still the screen cuts to black and doesn't shut off when it should. I tried booting into recovery and also into my bootcamp partition and neither gave me any different results. Diagnostics are telling me that there is an issue with the display and the wifi hardware. Go figure. Is there an explanation for both of these things messing up at the same time, aside from simply a logic board failure? If it helps, the reference codes I got were VFD002 and CNW001. My next step will be to take it into an apple store, but I'm not in my home country and I don't know if the reps in Tokyo will speak English. Thanks in advance for any advice!

    How to clean iPod Touch?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 09:10 PM PDT

I have an old iPod Touch 5th Generation, and I would like to keep using it, but it won't charge even with the lightning cable in. When this happened with my iPhone, opening it up and cleaning lint out of the inside did wonders, and I'm wondering how I can open up my iPod and similarly clean out any potential lint. There appear to be no external screws.

    Phone calls are getting weird

    Posted: 31 May 2018 05:03 PM PDT

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 and an iPhone 7. For the longest time my phone calls were going straight to my iPad which got annoying, so I went into the facetime settings and turned off phone calls from iPhone. Now my calls go to my iPhone, however, it usually just goes straight to voicemail. Of all the calls I've received since only one has rang awhile until I picked it up. Other than that, all my calls goes straight to VM. At first I'm like cool! I'll screen all my calls but I use the same phone for business so when I do talk to people I need to pick up and I can but I usually call back anyways. But weird problem

Does this happen if a number is blocked?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 08:07 PM PDT

I have an iPhone and they have an iphone. My text turned green and said "delivered as a text message". does that mean my number is blocked or that their phone is off or something. I was under the impression that if your number is blocked, the text bubble will remain blue, just nothing appears under it (delivered, read)????

    AM and Siri

    Posted: 31 May 2018 02:01 PM PDT

Has anyone else had any issues with using Siri to play music that is saved for offline usage while on cellular? I have cellular turned off for downloads and streaming, but not disabled for anything else. Trying to get Siri to play music just results in an error saying that I have to be on wifi to use this feature even though I know I have the songs saved to my library for offline usage. Becoming very annoying while trying to play music in the car.

On 11.3.1, but issue was also present in 11.3.0.

[Help] MacBook Pro stuck on loading bar

    Posted: 31 May 2018 02:00 PM PDT

Yesterday I went to restart my MacBook, which is a mid 2013 running High Sierra. It started up asked me to login and proceeded to bring up a loading bar. I left it sit for a while and nothing happened so I had tried to restart it. I also tried starting in recovery mode and installing OS X again, but it produced the same results. I'm looking for some help to resolve this issue. Thanks.

iPhone marking texts as read and not notifying me

    Posted: 31 May 2018 07:28 PM PDT

Only for one contact. My phone can be completely locked, sitting still. I will unlock it and go to my messages, new message from contact marked as read (no blue bubble) and there's no notification.

I have checked a million times to make sure do not disturb is NOT enabled for this contact. My phone vibrates and doesn't mark texts as read (works correctly) when I get texts from other people. Please help.

    I've tried restarting several times.

Bluetooth slows down WiFi on iPad 6, 9,7”

    Posted: 31 May 2018 10:46 AM PDT

I have a new iPad 9,7" with iOS 11.4. The data rate of WiFi drops to almost unusable when Bluetooth is enabled. I can see the data rate in the backend of my router. Whereas other wirelessly Mbit/s, the iPad is at 1 MBit/s. When I disable Bluetooth the rate goes up and is similar to the others. This issue does not occur everytime but very often.

    What I have done:

    • updated to 11.4 (as iOS 11.3.x had the same issue)
    • reset the router (it is a 2.4 GHz only router by D-Link)
    • switched to 20 MHz only bandwith
    • switched the channel on the router
    • limited the modus to 802.11g instead of 802.11g
    • increased and reduced the strength of the signal
    • reset the iPad from the backup which I created after I unboxed the iPad
    • used the iPad in another WiFi network with a different router (I could not see the rates there but the wireless connection was very slow with enabled Bluetoot, too)

Is this a hardware issue? Shall I ask Apple to replace the device? I need Bluetooth enabled because I use the Apple Pencil very often and ordered a Bluetooth keyboard which I want to use.

Bluetooth issues on MBP Retina Early 2015

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:36 PM PDT

Hello, my Macbook Pro Retina 13" (Early 2015) is having bluetooth issues. There are days when the bluetooth icon is greyed out - I think this is pointing towards a hardware issue. There are other days when the bluetooth icon is fine but it fails to connect to bluetooth devices that I have tested to be working fine. It also drops bluetooth connections and is just completely not dependable.

I started having issues after I drilled into the laptop screws because I had stripped them. I'm guessing that some of the debris from the metallic screws must have been pulled by the AirPort card magnetically and is interfering. Interestingly enough, the WiFi function works fine.

Troubleshooting: I have opened up the laptop and nicely tried vacuuming it, and then using some compressed air. Following that, the bluetooth started working again with lower downtime but after a few days it again started to misbehave.

    Any recommendations here? Thanks!

    GarageBand 6.05 & High Sierra

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:34 PM PDT

anybody have experience with migrating and older iMac to a newer one and running into a problem with the older version of GarageBand 6.05 running? I would like to have both versions 6 & 10 on my new machine due to not wanting to lose any master song files or incompatible "jampacks" i purchased (apple loops i had purchased separately on disc years ago)

My version 6 on the new machine will not load the user interface of garageband v 6.05 without crashing as it is looking for audio units and vst etc that either were not compatible in the migration or i deleted and the newer version swears exist but i can't find them to delete them.

I have tried deleting various plist and audio caches and sandboxes etc after googling the issues but i just can't get garageband to get past initialization without encountering multiple errors due to non existent plugins etc and it crashes.

I know it's a long shot, but i though maybe somebody else might have experienced this transition & error before.

    thanks so much.

Messages in iCloud worked flawlessly on my iPad but not on my iPhone. What should I do?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 09:30 AM PDT

So I turned on Messages in iCloud (MiiC) on my phone first because it has more message history. It took several hours to upload but it did complete, supposedly. I then turned it on on my iPad, which had less than half the messaging history of my phone.

48 hours later, my iPad successfully reduced the amount of storage taken up by Messages and also added all of the older conversations from my phone! So that worked perfectly!

But my phone still has 12.75 GB taken up by Messages!

Should I toggle MiiC off and back on or what?

    Device Management restrictions anomaly

    Posted: 31 May 2018 04:51 PM PDT

So I have a work phone with a Device Management profile on it. When I go to look at it under Settings, General, Profiles & Device Management, selecting it under Mobile Device Management it states that it contains 24 restrictions along with other details. Yet past the details I can look Restrictions and the number at the end is 25... All my other co-workers have 24/24...

My 25th just happens to be No camera allowed. My IT know of the issue but I'd like to see if anyone here has any insight while they look into it.

Wifi antenna replacement cost/USB wifi dongles that work with OSX 10.13.4?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 03:16 PM PDT

I have a mid-2012 non-retina MBP and I suspect my wifi antenna and/or the cable linking the antenna and the card are bad - if I leave my mac on a table and don't move it, the wifi is fine, but if the screen moves on the hinge at all the signal will drop and it won't reconnect (completely blank wifi icon on top bar) unless I reboot, sometimes several times.

I'm not crazy about having my laptop being effectively a desktop and a new computer is not in the budget right now. Anyone know how much a repair would cost through apple so I have an idea before I bring it in to the Genius bar?

Additionally, does anyone know of any USB wifi adapters that work with the most recent update of High Sierra?

bypassing the fusion drive of newer 2017 3.4ghz imac with external drives?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 01:17 PM PDT

is it possible to attach a Samsung T5 external SSD via usb3 port on 21.5" 2017 retina iMac and make this the main drive with High Sierra etc and then have an additional HDD attached by usb3 port for time machine backups and for serving media on plex etc. I am thinking of just not using the internal fusion drive at all and working everything from external drives. This seems doable and probably a speed upgrade. However, i wanted to check with you apple experts to make sure it's not inherently stupid or flawed logic etc as i am by no means an expert. Just looking for a gut check here before i pull the trigger on purchasing additional equipment. Thanks!

Updated to iOS 11.4 and now my phone drains its battery at a tremendous speed.

    Posted: 30 May 2018 10:49 PM PDT

Any ideas why this would happen? The most evident fix would be downgrading back, which is my last resort. Are there any other fixes?

Mid 2012 multiple hardware replacements needed, please help.

    Posted: 31 May 2018 12:34 PM PDT

Alright, so I've got myself a Mid 2012 15 inch MacBook Pro. I've heard some rumors recently that if you bring it into the store for a battery replacement they sometimes give you brand new model MacBooks. I have no idea about this, but I also have got myself a dead pixel. I have no idea what I should do about this, if anyone has advice, please help out.

So, I was using my MacBook Air last night before bed and set it on the floor before I went to bed. I got home from running errands and it won’t turn on. It’s less than a year old (a tax return present to myself this year) and I’m getting worried that it’s broken for good

What would be the best used Macbook for me?

    Posted: 31 May 2018 02:38 AM PDT

I recently spoke with a google representative about potential jobs for computer science students and I have been really interested, yet he told me I would probably want a Macbook as it allows me to develop for the Unix architecture. I have done my research and decided that I dont want anything later than a 2015 macbook pro. 15" of screenspace is preferred as it allows more code on screen but 13" is also fine. I want to get the best specifications for my money. I have looked into two main options. The 13" 2015 MBP with 500gb ssd, i5 and 8gb of ram, and the late 2012/early 2013 15" MBP with the i7 3740qm, with 500gb ssd and 16gb of ram. The 2012/13 model has better specs but I am not sure which is better as a computer, as I have my fears about buying an older laptop. This laptop has to last me for the next 3-4 years so I want it to last and perform well enough for that time. A 500gb ssd is a must and a resolution below 1080p is unacceptable. Out of these two laptops which would be better for me and are there any macbooks better than these two for my needs? Thanks :)

    Family Sharing Experience/Advice

    Posted: 31 May 2018 10:01 AM PDT

My wife and I are considering setting up a family share plan rather than each of us pay for separate Apple Music subscriptions and iCloud storage. I pay for 200GB and she pays for 50GB, so I would just merge her under my storage plan as I only use a little over 50GB of iCloud storage. We want to keep everything else separate, so namely just pay $15 a month for both our AM subscriptions and $3 for my iCloud data.

Does anyone foresee any issues with this transition? Lastly, do you have any advice or recommendations for what to do or what not to do - i.e. don't toggle certain settings during setup?

Thanks in advance for any help from the community!

Help from upgrading from MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

    Posted: 31 May 2018 09:59 AM PDT

Hi all! So, I'm a hopeless MacBook indoctrinate and had macs for 8 years now, although it's not the best state of being for an eternal student. The last two laptops I've had were second-hand refurbishments through eBay, and although I've only gotten 2 year of use out of each (as opposed to my 2010 MacBook Pro that I bought from Apple that was going strong for 6 years until I spilled a cup of coffee on it), for the £400-600 I've paid for them it's been a good deal.

However, now my current MacBook Pro has for last months showed signs of decay; it's getting slower and the RAM-chip is lose or something, if I pick up my Mac from a wrong position it crashes and turns itself off; my Mac has started to freeze and crash for no reason; and yesterday for the first time, I had the 'three beep' warning for RAM damage. I managed to reboot it still but almost lost some work (had to autorecover from a damaged Word file). I could probably get my laptop fixed but this is now a 6 year old model so also looking to upgrading to something.

So, my issue is: I don't have much understanding of the Mac processor speeds and processor types etc., and I've understood the newer ones can work better even if the processor speed is lower than my current due to the upgrade of processors. So, I can't quite get my head around how much benefit I can get from what year's models as opposed to my current one. This one has been ok, but would definitely like to see some improvement. I use my current one for multi-tasking (lots of different referencing softwares and internet tabs open while writing), sometimes photo editing and some gaming - this one has just managed to run Civ VI, although gaming gets excruciatingly slow in later stages of the game and maps any bigger than small.

So, any recommendations? Probably looking for a used/refurbished 2014-2016 model, wouldn't like to go over £1000 (though would be very happy if I could stay within the £400-800) socket. The specs of my current MacBook Pro are

    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
    2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

    Thank you!
