Xcode: Can I show the text editor and debug area side by side? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 12:47 AM PDT I'm relatively new to programming and in my first few weeks of a computer science degree. My uni has only showed us how to use linux with text editors and console commands to run our code, but I have started using Xcode for my more complex assignments because of the debugging tools. However, what I really liked about the text editor and console setup was having my code editor on the left and my console output on the right. Is it possible to do that in Xcode also? So far I have only managed to have it display with the code area above and the output below. I have tried to google it but I don't think I know the right terms for what I want to search. So we lost lots of MacOS Server functions.... Posted: 03 Apr 2018 10:14 AM PDT I know Apple published this a while back; https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208312 but that's now happened, goodbye DNS, DHCP, wiki etc. Many of these services are listed in the documentation as being replaceable with open-source equivalents but most of them seem to be far harder to deal with than their MacOS Server services. So what are your favourite and/or easiest-to-use replacement services? I'm particularly interested in DNS services. [link] [comments]

2 seconds of static screen upon wake after updating to 10.13.4 Posted: 03 Apr 2018 02:50 PM PDT Anyone else having this problem/have a fix for it? It seems to only happen if the computer has been sleeping for a long time. It'll show the static (entire screen) then go to the normal login screen for me to input my password. Everything else seems normal. I noticed it immediately after updating. I have the MacBook Pro, 13-inch, 2016, no touch bar. [link] [comments]

Is running a Mac OS VM safer than not? Posted: 03 Apr 2018 05:21 AM PDT Apologies for the potentially noob question, but I'm wondering if there is any benefit to setting up a MacOS VM in my account to do things like online banking. In my mind, I imagine that I can run a freshly installed OS in a VM without any addons or potential vulnerabilities in my browser to do online banking and then shut down the VM until next time. Is this a reasonable idea? Why isn't it easier to find information about this? Is it a bad idea? Thanks everyone! [link] [comments]

"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition." Posted: 03 Apr 2018 12:09 PM PDT I recently installed Windows 10 using Boot Camp Assistant. I decided it wasn't worth the while, and opened Boot Camp in hopes of restoring my computer to a single partition. It gives me the error "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition." I used Disk Utility to format the BOOTCAMP partition and restore it to a Journaled volume. I also tried to be clever and use some other solutions I found on the internet. In doing so, I accidentally created a second BOOTCAMP partition. I feel stupid. Anyway, this is what shows up when I run diskutil. What's the best solution as far as restoring my computer? FWIW, I'm on the latest edition MacBook Pro running High Sierra. Thanks in advance. What’s a good virus/malware scanner for MacOS? Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:37 AM PDT What does everyone else use? I was a program that doesn't slow down the computer, but is able to not only scan for possible viruses/malware inside the computer but also prevent more from coming in. [link] [comments]
Apple logo not fading when closing the lid, it just turns off suddenly (macOS 10.13.4) Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:29 AM PDT Hi there, since updating to the latest version the logo of my rMBP 13" 2015 doesn't fades out, it just turns off . everything else works fine, and it might be a stupid thing, but I just noticed it and its bugging me out haha Already reset SMC, NVRAM and boot in safe mode, not fixed. PD: it is not only the apple logo, also the display turns off abruptly when I move the pointer to a active corner that turns off the display [link] [comments] |
