    iPhoneX Face ID is awesome

    iPhoneX Face ID is awesome

    Face ID is awesome

Ok. So I was thinking Face ID was a hokey bunch of crap. Man was I wrong. It's freaking awesome. No more typing passwords on most of my apps. No more holding my finger on the home button to unlock or having to enter a code. But! Most of all....working in construction I have to wear a hard hat and safety glasses. Guess what? It still works. Damn I am so glad I got this iPhone X.

Since I got the iphone x I keep forgetting the aux adapter at home.

Is there any case I can buy that holds the adapter? I couldn't find one online

    Face ID Issues, please help!

    Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:34 AM PDT

Not sure if this was ever brought up but does any one ever run into this issue while just wanting to read the notifications?:

    1. Have a bunch of notifications I want to review
    2. Wake iPhone X (clicking power button or tapping on black screen)
    3. iPhone X fails to read/recognize face (Little lock symbol jiggles)

How do you get it to read scan your face again or a second attempt without having to slide up to unlock the phone or sleep and waking the phone again?

My goal is just to have it recognize my face so I can glance at the notification or if it fails the first time, to retry again because it was at a different angle.

I don't want to have to manually slide up, unlock the phone, scroll down to read the notifications and lock it again. OR I don't want to have to click the power button to sleep the phone and press it again to wake just for it to attempt to scan again.

Seems like a pretty bad UI/UX issue, any fixes or away around this?

    More Battery Life Woes...

    Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:32 AM PDT

This has been a bit of an ongoing struggle since I got my X in mid-February. At first I shrugged off poor battery life to the phone still running its courses and setting itself up. And some days the battery life is alright, but it appears to be worsening again. I'm currently down to 55% and the phone has only logged 2 and a half hours of use (NOT screen on time!) I keep battery hungry apps, such as Snapchat, closed from running in the background. Background app refresh is disabled as well. Here's a link to my screenshots: https://imgur.com/gallery/FdVjF

Has anyone else had this issue and should I now consider getting a replacement phone?

    Dual Cameras, Who uses them?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2018 06:32 PM PDT

Unless you specifically seek out the added benefit of the second rear camera. Who actually uses it on a daily/weekly basis besides users who take a huge amount of pictures any given day.

I mean yea its nice to have, but is it really worth it? 99% of the photos I take on my phone are either up close or close enough that when I zoom in enough that when it switches to the other camera the picture is ruin.

Since the iPhone 7 came around I only had the plus for the bigger screen. Not for the cameras.

The same for the iPhone X. The screen and overall size of the phone are what made me upgrade. Not the dual cameras.

Most Android Phones that surpass the iPhone 8/X in camera quality manage to outperform it with just one camera and good software processing.

Apple does just fine with the regular iPhone 8.

If and when they release newer iPhone Xs and if there are options for a single camera with the same overall screen and physical size. I wonder how many will opt for the cheaper single camera option that will still deliver amazing phones with just one lens.

Who else agrees? Or who has counter arguments?

Help in regards to front facing potrait.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2018 05:33 PM PDT

I have this problem of not able to take selfie potrait in direct sunlight. A description reads subject is too bright. If I click a picture anyway there is no potrait effect and the camera just takes an auto-HDR selfie instead. It is really frustrating because I couldn't even click a single selfie potrait on a beautiful spring day. The moment I step into my car or stand in a shade the selfie potrait works. Any help is appreciated.

Long time iPhone fanboy here. Convince me not to switch to Samsung

    Posted: 10 Apr 2018 06:09 PM PDT

Hey everyone, i'm kinda new to reddit but I have a really important decision to make and wanted to get this sub's opinion on it. I'm a long time fan of iphones, even had the original, and i've owned numerous iphones over the past 10 years. I'm currently sitting on a 6S and it's time for me to upgrade. I've been looking at the Iphone X for a while and although I've always loved Iphones I just can't seem to justify the $1000 purchase especially with so many other capable phones out there. Also, I don't want to settle for the iphone 8, I want the best iphone on the market.

My friend let me use his samsung S9 for a while the other day, and it's honestly the most amazing phone I've ever used. No lag, no noticeable bugs, smooth responsiveness, and an amazing display. I went on to do more research and I realized how advanced phones are becoming today.

Let's do a comparison of the two phones. The only things they have in common are display and camera megapixels. I've gone through numerous different speedtest and benchmark tests, and everyone says the same thing: their speed and performance capabilities are almost identical. The Samsung beats the iphone in numerous other categories:

    iphone costs $280 more ($1000 vs $720)

A headphone jack (i fucking need this)

sharper pixel density (568ppi vs 463ppi)

higher screen resolution (1125x2436 vs 1440x2960)

better video recording (1920x1080@30fps vs 3840x2160@60fps)

    superslowmo video (240FPS slo-mo vs 960FPS super-slo-mo)

    better low-light camera (F2.2 vs F1.7 aperature)

    more processors (6core vs 8core)

longer battery life (2716mAh vs 3000mAh)

    more RAM (3GB vs 4GB)

more sensors (samsung gets a light sensor and rgbw sensor)

    fingerprint sensor

fast wireless charging (iphone wireless only has regular speed)

expandable memory up to 400 extra GB (can't expand on iphone)

    dual SIM vs single SIM

Samsung S9 weighs less IP68 vs Iphone's IP67 water resistance rating

Super AMOLED screen vs iphone's OLED

higher screen to body ratio (84.51% vs 80.93%)

These are all things I cared about and it took me 5 minutes to find this info. I'm asking you guys about this because I don't want to make the wrong decision in switching out of iphone. I've read many reports of faulty devices/bugs, and both phones seem to have their fair share of expected difficulties. Outside of subjective differences such as preferences and OS comfort, Why should I pay $1000 for the Iphone X? Is there anything the X can do better than the S9? Do you think I'll regret switching to samsung after sticking with Iphones for so long? Thank you for any help!!

Also, I don't want to wait 6 months for the Iphone Xs. Samsung S9 and Iphone X are direct competitors right now and I'm choosing between the two.
