The iOS music app is in a strangely dysfunctional place if you don't have Apple Music Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:20 PM PDT When Apple Music service was first released, the iPhone app took a hard step away from full control over my music collection to becoming a marketing tool for Apple Music. Which is fine but I really like my music, especially now that I can fit it all on my new $1200 iPhone. I turned off all the 'For You' and Apple Music integration that I could. I deal with the daily bugs but am also dodging the popups for up selling services too. A perfect example is in This screen shot I bought this album on iTunes, then downloaded it, but iTunes offers the cloud versions mixed in. It does this for 100's of albums. It still offers the option of downloading the album for a second time, which would offer three of every song. If that isn't bad enough, clicking on the artists name doesn't bring you to the artist in your collection, or the iTunes store, it brings you to Apple music then asks if you want to upgrade. Meanwhile I really miss Genius Mix. 'For You' never got even close to genius mix quality. Is any one else sort of lost in between Apple's different music services? It's to the point were the music app is only good as access to the catalog but provides no improvements over the initial iOS 1 functionality, play, shuffle, repeat, with the addition of 'up next'. I got a new phone after using an iPhone 4 for eight years. Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:44 AM PDT My iPhone 4 served me very well throughout most of these years. It wasn't until some applications fell out of support (as of late last year) that I contemplated on replacing it.
The home button's double tap feature didn't function consistently during the last 3 years or so, but I used AssistiveTouch instead, and it worked very well.
However, the last straw for purchasing a new phone was when I began experiencing problems during recharge attempts -- as in it wouldn't charge at all. Being incapable of relying on whether or not it would be sufficiently energized when heading out, I decided to call it.
The length of service of my 8-year-old phone left me with an impressed ROI, so I decided to stay with the same brand. When I powered on its newer brother, I couldn't help but to feel slightly solemn as the iPhone 4 had been with me for so long. I hope my new iPhone 8 will serve me well.

Ps.The two photos were taken using the same amount of lighting and the resolutions have not been altered. iPhone 4 photo was taken with the iP8, and vice versa. The protective cover on the picture is the one and only I used since I first got the phone in 2010.Ds.
edit The charging issues are most likely caused by the charger, not the battery itself as I've had similar problems before. When wiggling the charging cable, the charging process either commences or interrupts. Buying a new charging cable resolved it in the past. I've gone through 2 Apple chargers. The last one I bought is a third-party charger. What I meant with the last straw was, instead of spending money on yet another charger, combined with not being able to use a lot of apps, and overall just wanting the experience of a newly designed product, I decided to get a new phone. Easily the most annoying thing I have ever seen on iOS. Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:48 AM PDT the circle not aligning with the pause button I am aware that it aligns with the play button but it's just annoying. [link] [comments] |

My Apple Watch S0 gotten way faster with WatchOS 4.3 Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:59 PM PDT Before the update, Siri was painfully slow on my watch. For example, I would tell Siri to set the timer for 5 minutes and I would normally have to wait around 10 seconds for the watch to process the request. Another one is using Siri to control HomeKit lights. I ask Siri to turn on my living room light and it would sit there thinking for a good 5 seconds, then says "I will tap you when I'm ready". Another 7-8 seconds later, it finally turns on my lights. While it worked, it was seriously slow and I just avoid using it. However, with the latest update, it is noticeably faster. Two example tasks I've mentioned above only takes 1-2 seconds to process and overall performance throughout the WatchOS seems to be much faster (but the watch itself is still pretty slow). I hope the performance doesn't degrade over few months from now, so I can upgrade straight to the new watch that is expected to come out later this year... Edit: Typo [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:11 PM PDT I would dearly love a BeatsClassical; I know it's probably too nieche, and I rather doubt even Beats1 still has an audience left; but in Australia our major classical station (ABC ClassicFM) is just getting worse and worse, more and more repeats of the same old repertoire, etc etc. A carefully hosted, interestingly curated classical station would be amazing, and Apple are probably the only people with the balls to do it... Just now figured you can use AirPods with AppleTv. Pretty cool! Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:21 PM PDT |
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:17 PM PDT I know there has been a ton of posts about the fast charging for the iPhone X, but I haven't seen one that is fairly recent. Any cheaper alternatives to fastcharge my iPhone X? I'm mainly lookin at iClever and Anker products. If there's a lightning cable that allows fast charging, let me know please. I don't think the apple lightning cable would work well with my budget. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Apple Music should include Ringtones Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:15 PM PDT I believe this would make a great bonus for Apple Music subscribers. I don't believe the ringtones are worth it on iTunes. I also don't want to go through the hassle of having to make the ringtone through other means. It would be cool to have the ability to switch our ringtones on the fly with Apple Music. In privacy settings, can we have a setting for clipboard access? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:33 AM PDT Facebook for a while has scalped your keyboard on iOS to then suggest you post it as an update if it contains a URL. People copy all manner of sensitive things and I wouldn't put it past Facebook to store this data. Can this be blocked? And yes, I've submitted this as feedback previously. I'm wondering if other people agree about this being an issue. [link] [comments] |

Apple Park Visitor Center / Store - how are they not getting robbed all day? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:58 AM PDT So many products lying around untethered on every table, with a huge mob of people picking up everything. I bought a case and watch band on the spot, and then walked around with them in my hand for an hour before leaving. What distinguished me as I walked out the door from any other person walking out with the same items, unpaid? [link] [comments] |

Apple Music Radio no longer forced to only move forward? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 05:39 AM PDT Anyone else notice that since 11.3, you can go back to previous tracks in Apple Music? I was driving yesterday with CarPlay and could use a radio station and go back to prior tracks, that definitely wasn't in 11.2. [link] [comments] |

iOS 11.3 - New NFC protocols enabled!?!?! Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:32 PM PDT the iOS 11 update has brought something for Chinese Apple Pay users - the ability for virtual transit cards in Beijing and Shanghai. The thing is, you can "transfer" the balance off your physical card into your "digital" card by tapping on this card. Now, iOS 11 allowed read support for NFC tags, but if you download NFC apps from the app store, the NFC protocols used by credit/debit cards, points and rewards cards or transit cards aren't supported. I tried the transfer balance mode and I found that it recognized all my credit/debit, points, rewards and transit cards and even passports! Which means apple has been secretly disallowing this NFC protocol even though the hardware supports it. You have to be on iOS 11.3 in order to use the new transit features in China, but unfortunately NFC apps from the app store either isn't updated to use these protocols or can't use these protocols yet.
