    I've been using VLC for as long as I could remember but decided to check out other apps due to VLC's same old look and feel. IINA is fantastic. It uses so many of Apple's features, like picture in picture and TouchBar integration.

    I'd love to see AirPlay added and a possible Apple TV app. Then IINA will be a true powerhouse!

    [Tip] Easily delete your conversations in the Messages app by selecting the top conversation, holding [option] + [command], and taping the [delete] key until all the conversations are deleted. (And if you want to make sure to not delete new messages, disconnect from the internet before hand.)

    more important edit: I realized you can hold the [delete] key too, as it seems to work for me

    I still haven't updated to High Sierra

    I read way too many posts complaining about the latest MacOS over time that made me too worried to update.
    Initially I was writing my thesis and did not want any unpredictable changes, now that I am done with it, I am thinking to update again. How is the current state of MacOS High Sierra?
    I am on Macbook Pro 2015 dual graphics.

    Forbidden character and iMessage app on MacBook.

    Hi, I received a text with that character on my phone. Thankfully I was able to update and get it to stop crashing the Messages app on my phone. However, the message synced to the Messages app on my MacBook. I haven't seen any updates or anything like that for resolving the issue on the MacBook side of the things. Since the app won't even load, it can't sync the deletion or anything like that. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

    EDIT: Rebooted my MacBook and it looks like Appstore now shows the 10.3.3 update. Updating now and will report back with how it looks.

    EDIT1: After reboot only iTunes and Pro Video Formats updates had applied. Now a standalone 1.01GB update for 10.3.3 macOS is available. Downloading and installing.

    Reset my 2012 MacBook Pro and I can never get past this? Why is the permission denied? Please help!

    This started happening after my laptop came back from service, where they replaced its broken screen. Whenever I use an external display (2160p @ 60Hz via DisplayPort) before long I start to see these artifacts, often flashing at me. I'd normally suspect the display replacement to cause it, but it's actually a software bug, since I can zoom into the artifacts and even screenshot them. Here, have a look:

    Any idea how to debug this?

    Best Twitter app for MacOS and iOS

    I have enjoyed using Twitter's official app on my MacBook but now that they are discontinuing support for it, I am looking at getting either Tweetbot or Twitterrific and wanted to hear some feedback. I am currently using the official Twitter app on my iPhone/iPad but will be switching to one of these once I have decided which one. Help me Obi-Reddit Community...you're my only hope!

    Change Alert Sounds in Apps?

    Hey y'all

    Been awhile since I used a Mac, just picked one up not too long ago and having fun (cough) figuring out a variety of details.

    Curious about changing Alert sounds used in different apps -- I've got Fantastical 2 and it plays "Basso" which is simply awful. Changing it to any of the other default sounds would be great, but I can't seem to manage finding it. I tried inspecting the package contents of the app, and managed to find some of the UI sounds -- but not the alert sounds.

    Any tips that don't require using something like Xcode? Surely, there's an easy way to change the sounds among the default sounds.... Right?

    Is there a way to disable both key repeat and the accent popup?

    Either break my processing application because I need the buttons pressed only once. It drives me mad and disabling accent popup and trying to switch key repeat off in system preferences does nothing.. please help!

    How do I ensure that certain applications are always running on a pre-designated Desktop everytime?

    New to Mac after 20 years of Windows.

    As mentioned above... for Example, my desktop 2 will always be Chrome, desktop 3 will always be Outlook.

    Even after booting up to shutdown and sleep, my desktops will always be arranged as such.
