full time power for iPad Pro? (10.5) Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:41 AM PST Can someone tell me what the power supply requirements are for a 10.5 inch iPad Pro so that it can be on continuously running cellular data, Bluetooth, and with the screen brightness all the way up? I need to be able to have it in this configuration for many hours without the battery discharging even while plugged in. More specifically I need to plug it in to a 12 volt DC power supply. What amperage do I need? [link] [comments] |
I'm an Architect (AutoCAD user). Should I buy an iPad Pro? Posted: 15 Feb 2018 06:51 AM PST Hello. I'm an Architect and I'm looking for a portable device to work when i'm outside my office or traveling. I don't want to carry (or pay) a powerfull laptop. If this device is not easy or confortable to carry arround i know I will end up not using it. I've been using a MS Surface Pro 4 for a year, which is great, full PC functionality, great display and touch capabilities. Since I coulnd't afford the i7 model, my i5 feels a little underpowered, and it's graphics power are not enough for 3d modeling and drawing .dwg plans. Also, the pen stoped working long ago due to water damage (don't ask). So right now I use it mostly only as a Spotify player (I feel awful about that, like wasting money) So, lately, I found myself daydreaming about the iPad Pro. I'm familiar with the system (my wife owns a 2017 ipad, and I have an ipad mini 2), so I know more or less what to expect. What I need to know is if this is a tool I can really use to work. For example, is AutoCAD really usable? Is it easy to draw a plan from the scratch, or work with a big heavy plan file? or is it only meant to read plans and take measures?. I have developed a lot of muscular memory using autocad commands and short cuts, I know I will feel hand tied at first, but, will I be able to achieve some speed or is the interface all menu and submenu based (point and click). Is there any alternative .dwg editor optimized for iPad Pro? I have even more questions regarding 3d modeling, but I think you get what I'm trying to figure out. Any advice or experience will be greatly appreciated . Thank you very much. TL;DR: ¿Should I buy an iPad Pro to professionally draw plans or 3d modeling?. (I know it is an awesome tool for sketching, but I need more technical solutions too) [link] [comments] |

iPad Pro 10.5 Restarting on Loading Page Issue? Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:36 PM PST I bought my Pro in July and use it a few times a week. I noticed early on that the logo screen starts 2-3 times before asking my PIN and finally on dashboard. Last month it got "stuck" on the logo screen, and I plugged it into my PC and wiped/fixed it. It kept doing the re-starting thing, with a few times reaching the dashboard and rebooting altogether when I tried to open an app. I just updated it to 11.2.5 and it seemed to show the logo once before asking my PIN and finally act normal. But a few uses later, and it's back to the re-starting logo 2-3 times again. Is it defective, and would I be able to return it under warranty (no Applecare)? Has anyone else experienced this? Stylus issues (Adonit Jot Mini) Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:35 PM PST It's odd... I got this stylus for my wife to use on her 2017 iPad, and it's worked great for a couple of weeks, and then all of a sudden became unresponsive/unreliable. However, trying it out on my iPhone8 and my iPad Mini 4, it works perfectly! Is there any logical reason that this stylus would behave so dramatically different on the 2017 iPad vs... everything else? FWIW, it's a "disc" type of stylus. I've read notes about a lot of people fixing them by jacking something in between the ball and the disc to improve conductivity -- but I'm thinking that, if this thing works on all but the one iPad, there must be something else in play here. I'm stumped and would appreciate any tips or suggestions. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:42 AM PST I posted another thread on this sub the other day concerning selling my old iPad Mini 2, which hasn't seen a great deal of use for the last few years since getting a MacBook Pro. Yesterday I reset it ("All contents and settings") and have actually been quite enjoying using it since (I'm typing this post write now on it using my Apple keyboard). However, it's 64GB and cellular, both of which are wasted on me. Assuming it wouldn't cost too much extra money out of my pocket, would an iPad Mini 4 WIFI with 16GB-32GB be a worthwhile investment in exchange for my current iPad Mini 2? I'm assuming it would come with iOS 11 out of the box - does that run okay on the 4? Second question concerns the iOS. I've always been wary of Apple updates after they basically killed my iPhone 4S. My iPhone SE is still on 9.3.2 along with the tvOS beta profile. My iPad is on 9.2.1, which frustratingly is just short of the update that allows Netflix to PIP. Apart from that, am I missing out on much by not updating it to iOS 11 and am I right in thinking doing so would be a bad idea? It seems to be running quite smoothly on iOS 9. [link] [comments] |
A question about multitasking? Posted: 14 Feb 2018 05:19 PM PST I use LastPass in "slide over mode" to easily log into sites then I no longer need the app. But whenever I accidentally swipe from the left side, the slide over menu shows up. Is there anyway to completely close apps other than the multitasking menu because it doesn't show apps when they're opened from the dock in slide over mode? [link] [comments] |
