[Discussion] Can we please get serious about security?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:46 AM PST

With the recent news of Cydia coming to Electra with Substitute and the influx of new beginner developers, securely getting these packages to users needs to be top priority.

If you're a web developer, you'd be shocked to find that more repository's aren't serving their packages through a Secured Socket Layer than are. That's asinine, it's 2018 and almost every site should be served using HTTPS, SSL Certificates are literally free, there's no excuse for not using HTTPS.

A bot should be developed for this sub so that whenever someone releases a new tweak, whether in a post or reply, and sees that the repository isn't served via HTTPS, that reply/post should be deleted and the user messaged with the reason.

I'm also not the only one to agree on this: https://twitter.com/coolstarorg/status/964294586943156224

The reason we didn't see that tweet from Coolstar on the front page is because most people here aren't developers and think if they don't even know what an SSL is, they shouldn't be worried about it and that's a terrible mindset to have.

It's 2018, 100% FREE SSL Certificates are available via Let's Encrypt with an SHA-4096 (for reference, GoDaddy only offers 2048).

    Something needs to be done.

[Discussion] These fake developers trying to get a RC1 copy are getting so bad, coolstar has to switch to a more private platform.

[Question] Just a quick but important question about Electra RC1

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:31 PM PST

I'll make this clean and simple, does Electra RC1 fix the freezing issue when opening apps on beta 11 and up? Cause right now I'm chilling on beta 10 I had to downgrade from beta 11 because the freezing was literally happening around 3-5 times a day and I couldn't stand having to force reboot my phone anymore so will this be fixed in RC1? If anyone here has RC1 and can give me an answer from personal use that'd be great, thanks in advance!

[Discussion] Don't try to ask CoolStar for RC version of Electra

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 12:23 PM PST

CoolStar keeps getting messages "please give me Electra RC1 im a developer". He won't give you Electra unless you're a real developer. Because of spam true developers couldn't update their tweaks, so just stop and wait until public release (spamming CoolStar only delays it).

[Discussion] The reason the Telugu character crashes is the unicode character zero-width non-joiner

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 02:05 PM PST

When converting the Telugu character to HTML entities, it is broken up into 5 different unicode characters.

However, one of those characters is &#8204: a zero-width non-joiner. This is the cause of the crash.

Now, to clarify: the ZWNJ does nothing by itself. If you try using another Telugu character with the ZWNJ in it, iOS won't crash. This specific combination is (afaik) the only one which leads to a crash.

There is a safe version of the character: one that doesn't have the ZWNJ. They are entirely identical- the ZWNJ is not visible.

For those interested, the HTML equivalent of the safe character is జ్ఞా

I used this ^ site to get the HTML equivalent.

[Beta] Created a tweak to revert Snapchat back to the old user interface using the file-mod workaround posted yesterday: snapdecent

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:34 AM PST

Available on http://cokepokes.github.io (If Cydia lets my source load.) If my repo is down, you can install the deb file manually with Filza/iFile. Works with the Electra jailbreak. :)

[Tip] Reinstall Ext3nder to fix maxQuantity error

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:17 PM PST

Ext3nder downloads and patches the latest build of Cydia Extender during installation. If you reinstall Ext3nder, Cydia Extender will be upgraded to 0.9.44 which fixes the maxQuantity issue. Revoke your certificates before resigning, and you should be all set.

Apparently Impactor 0.9.44 introduced a bug that breaks certificate revocation. I ran into this issue myself. It can be mitigated by downgrading Impactor to 0.9.43, revoking certs, then upgrading back to 0.9.44 to resign. Extender does not seem to be affected by this issue, so it's a better solution if your device supports it.

And yes, I realize I am not the first person to post about this. I just wanted to put of this information in one post.

[Discussion] Apple should just go ahead and sign iOS 8.4.1 for A5 and A6 devices for restore since anyone can just downgrade OTA. I think that’s why they decided to leave iOS 6.1.3 open for the 4s after #downgradeparty.

[Request] Make Face ID great again

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:52 AM PST

Would love to see a tweak to add multiple faces for Face ID and also make it so it continuously scans Face after it fails. Also would be great to see bioprotect working with more than one registered face.

One of the things I miss from Touch ID is the multiple fingerprints, although it may not have been intended for more than one person, it was nice to be able to add another persons fingerprint.

[Tip] Set up Ext3nder to auto sign applications once it reaches below 20% battery

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:04 AM PST

I find this to be very useful and you won't forget to resign yalu102 or any jailbreak application.

    1. Go to Settings > Activator > Anywhere
    2. Press "Build" on the top right
    3. Press "Battery Drains"
    4. You can set any percentage but I have it on 20%
    5. Now go back to the screen after you pressed "Anywhere"
    6. Under the section "Battery Level" you should see the action you just created and should be named something like "Battery Drains Past 20%" press on that
    7. Find the "Ext3nder" option and you're done.

From now on, when your battery drains below 20% it will revoke and resign all of your applications you currently have set up in Ext3nder. I recommend to turn off the "Auto Signer IPA" in Ext3nder since it will always sign before your battery drains completely.
