What is a normal standby/ usage time for the iPhone 6s Posted: 24 Feb 2018 06:47 PM PST I have been having issues with my iPhone 6s battery. I find it losing charge very fast and it is also sometimes dying on like 30% and it can go up and down in charge while I am using it (however past week it has been normal other than dying very fast) Just there on 1% battery I checked the battery usage stats and it said I had 3 hours of usage time and 3 hours 20 minutes of standby. This is just from social networking apps and browsing, I wasn't even streaming anything. Is this a normal usage time? I feel it isn't but I am so used to it doing this now I don't even know what normal is. When I took it to Apple they said I had 82% battery capacity and that changing the battery might not fix anything so I just left it. [link] [comments] |
Bought Mac at Best Buy, no serial number on receipt. Is this a problem? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 05:07 PM PST Got an MBA for $250 off the typical price which is better than just about any price out there. Best Buy apparently does not list the serial number of the item purchased for any item. If I have some sort of problem in the future with the Mac will this be a problem? I'm thinking of even the more obscure problems such as a firmware lock. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:27 PM PST I tried using spotlight to search for all movie formats (mp4, mov) and there's nothing. Where are these 26 gigs of movies? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
HomePod doesn't show up as a separate card in control centre Posted: 24 Feb 2018 06:42 PM PST When I 3D touch the music module in control centre, my homepod doesn't show up as it's own card. It doesn't show up when I press the airplay button in apple music either (as per this support page: https://support.apple.com/HT208383) My homepod does show up in the home app, and I am the person who set it up. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Gold for anyone with a working solution! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 5 no longer turning on past logo screen Posted: 24 Feb 2018 09:38 PM PST So my iPhone 5 (iOS 10.3.3) isn't going past the Apple logo screen. 2 days ago it just turned off, and when I tried turning it back on, it would stay at the logo screen for a minute or two and then go back to black, not turning on. It does this anytime I press the power button or try to do a hard reset. It was completely out of storage space before it started acting up. I plugged it up to my computer and held the power & home button until it gave me the iPhone recovery option, but iTunes is telling me that I can't update it at all, only completely restore it. For some reason, iCloud hasn't backed up my phone for the past couple weeks and absolutely no contacts at all. I have very important stuff on there since then that I really can't afford to lose. Is there anything I can do to restore/recovery my phone and still keep the data? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 09:37 PM PST iphone7 with the latest ios patches applied. Sometimes when I use IVR systems for example ordering prescription refills the number '1' key on the keypad becomes disabled at the exact time when I am prompted to press '1' to confirm the order. Prior to that '1' button would be enabled and I would be able to use it in the prescription number. Since that key is disabled, I will not be able to complete the transaction and have to start over again. This does not happen always. This seem to happen mostly at the critical time of confirming a transaction or order. This has been happening for over a year now on and off. No applications installed from app store after purchase. Any ideas what might be going on with my phone? Hacked? Compromised at PoS? [link] [comments] |
DMG Image is stuck on previous download. Posted: 24 Feb 2018 08:48 PM PST I apologize for the confusing title, but I don't exactly know how to word it. I bought a 13" Macbook Pro (TouchBar) and I was downloading all my usual apps. I installed Discord, then I wanted to install uTorrent, but whenever I try installing it, this dmg image pops up. Can someone help me figure out why I keep getting kernel panics? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 08:19 PM PST So I've been getting kernel panics pretty often when I stop using my computer at night and I wake up with my MBP's fan running but not responding. Then today I started getting them while I was using my laptop. Here's the report if anyone can help me locate the issue, thanks: Sat Feb 24 22:15:17 2018 *** Panic Report *** panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff801af88e21): Kernel trap at 0xffffff7f9d8b0fe9, type 14=page Posted: 24 Feb 2018 07:39 PM PST It just says "macOS could not be installed... The path /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg to be missing or damaged" It has one Avalible button which is to reset, which takes me to the Apple chime and lock screen. Once I put in the password again it loads for a bit and just before finishing, it goes to the same screen again. When I click the logo at the top 3 things appear: Two of which are Restart and Shut down- both lead back to this loop. The third says "startup disk" and upon clicking takes me to a screen that says "choose the system you want to use to start your computer" it only gives the option of "Macintosh HD macOS, 10.11.6" and when I click the only button it takes me right back to the start. I searched google for a bit and realized that this has happened to many people but many of the resolutions were hard for me to understand since I'm not that good with computers. Can someone explain to me a way to leave this loop? At this point I don't care about installing this. Thank you! TL;DR- The title + anything I click makes it loop back there. [link] [comments] |
Uninstall unnecessary Apps from Mac Posted: 24 Feb 2018 02:26 PM PST Hi everyone, i bought a Mac a couple of weeks ago, and today i wanted to deinstall all those unneccessary Apple Bloatware like iTunes, DvD-Player, Chess, and so on..., but even with admin rights, or in the Terminal my Mac says, " i dont have the necessary rights". All i found in the Apple support Forum is" why should someone want to delete this" sorry but thats not helpfull, on every other OS you could delete what you want, where you want. There must be a way on this Machine to do this. thanks PS: 10.13.3 [link] [comments] |
"T" key not working even after key replacement 2015 rMBP 13 inch. Posted: 24 Feb 2018 05:53 PM PST Last week my t key started to go in/out. I order a replacement key, thinking it was a hinge issue, but it didn't help. The problem has gotten worse and now the key works roughly 20-30% of the time. If I hit the t key several times and nothing happens, I will occasionally get a very delayed string of t's printed 10+ seconds later. I've found very little info on this and I am wondering what the potential problems and solutions could be. [link] [comments] |

How to remove hard drive from Macbook (Mid 2009) if it doesn't have plastic tab or bracket? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 04:09 PM PST My journey to fixing this Macbook is almost done... I got a new hard drive, used the SATA to USB cable to format it and install El Capitan, installed 2 GB more of RAM... And I looked at the hard drive to find, there's no bracket or plastic tab. I can't pull the hard drive out. I don't have a Phillips #0 or #000 (But I DO have Phillips #00), so I can't open the entire Macbook and then get the hard drive out. I'm aware getting those tools may be my only option, but... If there's any way to get it out now, I'd appreciate if someone could tell me how. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Macbook Pro Retina 13inch Late 2013 Liquid Damage Recover data of ssd Posted: 24 Feb 2018 04:09 PM PST Hey guys so I ended spilling some juice on my macbook pro retina a year ago. I did the usual turned it off immediately, wiped as much liquid as i could and left it off to dry. After few days i attempted to turn it on but no luck no response. I took it to a repair place and they were no able to get it on either. Flash forward to this year and somehow it should some signs of life it made the startup chime and the power light on the batter charger came on. It wouldn't boot and flashing folder with a question mark appeared on the screen. From looking around the web it seemed like the ssd was not booting. So i opened the computer up and swapped the drive with my sisters computer just to see if it would boot and luckily it booted up perfectly and i checked all the components (keyboard keys, trackpad, wi-fi, bluetooth etc) and everything seems to work perfectly. The problem is i had alot of pictures and videos on the ssd and i have no idea what to do to get the data of the drive should i take it to apple? or is there an online service than get recover the data. Also where can i get a ssd for the mac the model of the ssd is MZ-JPU256T/0A6 this is a 256gb drive but im looking for 128gb. [link] [comments] |

So my iPhone 5s is running on ios 10.3.3 and is still working fine. Recently I started hearing about the Telugu bug and I've gotten a bit paranoid of the whole thing. I know there is an ios patch available for it, but the thing is, my free space is in the upper hundred MBs (700 - 800) and ios 11 requires 1.17 GB of storage that I don't have. I have a lot of information on this phone. I backed everything up to iTunes about three days ago but I'm still terrified of my iTunes backup being lost or overwritten. I just want to protect my phone from the bug altogether without being forced to delete things I need to clear storage so I can update to the patch. What can I do until I can find a way to clear off space without losing anything important? edit: I was looking at what's taking up most of my storage as I posted this and apparently messages take up 2 gigabytes. I've had this phone for a year and never deleted any messages, so it makes sense. I'm about to wipe everything that's older than 30 days, but before I do that, I have a question: if I delete the messages off of my phone, will the person I was having the conversation with still have the messages on their phone, or will they be somehow erased from both of ours? Trying to reinstall High Sierra from boot drive. HD not mounting (xpost r/OSX) Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:18 PM PST Mac Mini late2011. Upgraded to High Sierra, constant crashes and reboots, unable to install updates. I decided I'd try a reinstall, made an installer thumb drive just in case. Reinstall kept failing, like update fails, so tried erasing the disk via disk utility. Disk utility crashed during the erasure, and now using the installer drive it does not see the HD. Going back into disk utility I see the drive, it's been erased but it will not mount. I am at a loss for what to do. Anyone have thoughts or is it Genius Bar time? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:17 PM PST Hello, I accidentally deleted an important iMessage thread with a person. I followed the following help thread, but now when I open iMessage, everything is gone. And weirder than that, when I send a new message now (or receive one), it doesn't seem to show up on my mac. Thanks to anyone in advance who is able to help me. [link] [comments] |
[Help] iCloud photos not syncing on updated iMac Posted: 24 Feb 2018 08:12 AM PST
Hi I just did a clean install of High Sierra from El Capitan. Since upgrading, my photos will not update from iCloud. It's showing only 1 photo and I have over 400 on my iPhone. It's been saying Uploading 1 Item for 4 days now. I don't know what to do. Things I've already tried
I know I can just hook my iPhone up to my Mac and sync. I'm just afraid if I do so it will show doubles on my iPhone. Is this something that will happen? Thanks any help would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:42 AM PST I restarted my iPhone 8 and it is now prompting for a passcode that does not match my original four digit passcode before. It is prompting for a six-digit passcode instead of my usual four-digit passcode. When I usually restart I input the four digit with no problem. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks [link] [comments] |
