Posted: 16 Feb 2018 03:32 PM PST I'm not getting any audio whatsoever on my macbook for some reason, when I go to sound tab in system preferences, the built-in output isn't available at all. The same thing happens when I go to input devices. Anyone experienced this who can help me? I've got a dissertation to do so I'm hoping that sending off my macbook for repair is a last a resort. | Posted: 16 Feb 2018 01:00 PM PST Ever since I got my first iPod about 10 years ago, my entire family shared one Apple ID. I'm 23 now, and it has really gotten to the point of extreme inconvenience since my father's credit card is the only form of payment on it (meaning I don't ever make song or app purchases off my phone, only on my laptop) and I don't use iCloud (because I'm not keen on sharing my photos, etc. with my family), so I want to make my own ID. As I said, I don't use iCloud at all and I occasionally back my phone up to my MacBook (also under the family ID). My main concerns are if I can keep the photos, music, and contacts that are on my phone right now if I make a new Apple ID (all my apps are free, so I don't mind losing them). It's an iPhone 6 with iOS 11.2.5. I was also planning on getting an iPhone X within a month or so, but I did want to get this taken care of first. [link] [comments]  |

| Notes on iOS 11 keeps crashing Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:46 PM PST Hey all! The Notes app on my iPhone, as of iOS 11, keeps crashing. It does not crash on iCloud.com, or on my Mac, but without fail it will freeze and then crash. I have tried a restore, a setup as new, unsyncing and resyncing notes, and have even upgraded my iPhone since the problem began - none of these solved the problem. | Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:40 PM PST ever since i got my macbook it has never set flat on a table, whenever i press down on the bottom right of it when it's open it wobbles almost like how iphones wobble on tables because of the camera bump. i was thinking it may be bent however it dosent seem like there is any sort of bend, also the black rubber parts on the bottom seem to all be the same size and they are all there. why is this happening? No damage to the computer internally, it's been months since the accident and it's working fine. Apple quoted me $1425 to repair. Just curious if anyone has an idea what a private shop might charge. | Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:54 PM PST Hey I found my old highschool iPod from grades 9-12 while cleaning my room. I used my dad's old iPad charger and plugged it in. It turns on and plays music but won't hold a charge. I asked on tech help and was directed here in hopes of a more specific answer. I wanted to get it working again but don't think it's actually with it. To the point, are there any programs I can use to extract all my old music off of it? It's practically full and mostly came from CDs that I either no longer own or have been destroyed. I want to relive my teenage angst, thanks for any help. [link] [comments]  |
| 2016 MacBook Pro 15" External Monitor Issues Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:36 PM PST Ever since I bought the 2016 MacBook Pro when it first came out, the one with the touch bar, I've never had more frustration with external monitors detecting a signal. I came from a 2013 iMac so this is my first MacBook. The first issue was with my 55" Sony TV was a matter of HDMI support with Mac OS. It worked great in Windows but had many problems with getting the signal to work until they finally updated Sierra a third time, after my issue was finally escalated at Apple to their developers. Now the problem is with my new BENQ XL2730 and the problem this time is with Windows 10 (bootcamp). The latest MacBook Pros have the AMD Radeon Pro 450. I'm running the latest driver. Either that's 21.19.128.7 or it's 17.12.2 depending on who you ask (former is device manager and latter is AMD driver install). I'm running Windows 10 Creator's Edition with the latest updates on a bootcamp partition. I had to update the video drivers with AMD's version of the driver, since post High Sierra, Apple will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever get around to updating bootcamp. I got a new BENQ XL2730 monitor and I have spoken with them at length about this issue. They seem to believe the problem is the AMD drivers in Windows 10, I really don't know if this is true. The problem ONLY occurs in Windows, the problem does not occur at all with Mac OS High Sierra. That may be a clue that it is. The problem is worse (more annoying) with a display port adapter/connector and slightly better (less annoying) with an HDMI adapter. They both have the same issue: Once Windows reaches the login prompt to type the password, the signal cuts out shortly thereafter. It does not return until I unplug the monitor repeatedly and plug it back in with the laptop clamshell open. 'm running the AMD Radeon driver FROM AMD, not Apple. Again, the Apple one won't even work anyway with creators edition, it's obnoxiously outdated. Windows 10 Version 10.0.16299.248 I really wish Apple would get around to making bootcamp compatible with High Sierra and finally get around to updating bootcamp for Windows with compatible drivers that work. | Dumb Question, annoying problem Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:27 PM PST So, I open Snapchat. I take a picture, send it, everything is fine. I record a video and the audio plays but my phone screen freezes. So I hit the lock button, it takes a couple seconds for the screen to lock. Unlock the screen, freezes again. Lock. Unlock, screen is fine, I send the snap and close the app. Now it's doing it when I'm watching a video on the YouTube app, I thought it was maybe just a Snapchat update bug but nope. I want to reboot my phone to see if that helps, but I've been getting prompted for several days to download iOS 11.2.5 and I DO NOT want to do that. This is my question: if I reboot my phone, will the update install? I've been burned by updates in the past and I'm not about to have my phone get fucked, again. All I want is a nice little reboot and for that update to stay in whatever cyber dimension it's currently festering. Also the video lag is annoying as hell. [link] [comments]  |

I've tried to reset it through iTunes but since I've only got it for a week I hadn't synchronised it yet so it won't show my phone on the Mac without a password on the mobile device. Posted: 16 Feb 2018 05:40 PM PST Hello I recently updated my Ipad to IOS 9.3.5 and ever since, whenever i click an ad in chrome, it redirects the page i'm on, instead of opening the ad in a new tab, as it used to. It forces me to reload the page, which spawns a new ad, which does the same. Making it go in an infinite loop of ads, so i can't access the site. [link] [comments]  |
| 2017 MacBook Pro... water damage Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:51 AM PST So the worst thing possible could happen. As I drove home an entire litre of water spilled into my backpack. Of course my brand new MacBook Pro was in there. Only the bottom left side was partially submerged for maybe 20 minutes. I have had it off since Wednesday sitting in rice the same way it sat in the water. I have now taken the back off and none of the liquid indicators have gone off. I booted it on and well the only thing that seems to have been affected is the screen, tons of water inside it, touch bar ect is working. My question is, anyone have experience with the liquid indicators not going off? I already have an Apple appointment for tomorrow for another issue involving the graphics card. I had previous warranty work done on it Jan. 14 because the graphics card. They ended up replacing a whole bunch of parts and the job was about 2500$ CAD My graphics card was still acting up which was the point of my Apple appointment tomorrow. But now it will be to get a quote for the screen. My next question is I just paid for extended warranty on the 31st of January, will they still do warranty repairs after a liquid damage repair? | Problem installing macOS onto 2011 MBP after SSD upgrade Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:36 PM PST I'm trying to re-install macOS fresh onto a 2011 MBP after installing a 860 EVO SSD, and attempted to do so by making a USB installer on another macbook. That didn't work. After it got about 1/4 done, it fell back to a screen telling me it failed to install, and to reboot to try again. The SSD is already formatted using the disk utility. ....so I attempted the same thing, but this time using internet recovery. Again, same issue. Is this SSD just not compatibile?
