I've just released version 4.2.1.6 of Cercube tweak which allows you to save videos, block ads, play videos in background and much much more.

YouTube has been doing some A/B testing to enable Dark Mode for a very few users. But now, Cercube is able to enable it instantly for everyone. Just install Cercube and launch the app.

[Tutorial] Battery Saving Guide for iOS 10.2

    Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:26 PM PST

This has been asked a lot on how to get better battery life.

What I'm about to list are what works for me, but may differ for you.

    Cellular:

    Turn off Wifi Assist

    Notifications:

Turn off Notifications for apps that you don't really use or don't want the notifications to show up(If you are jailbroken install ShyNotifications from Cydia)

    General:

Turn off Handoff (If you don't use it)

Turn on Reduce Motion (If you're jailbroken download NoPaperLax)

Turn off Vibration (Only if you really value battery life over functionality)

    Turn off Background App Refresh

    Display & Brightness:

Turn off Auto Brightness (Set it to something you are comfortable)

Turn off Raise to Wake (I'm not too sure if this helps or not, I leave it on just because I love having this feature)

    Wallpaper:

When picking a wallpaper make sure it's set to "Still" rather than "Perspective"

    Sounds:

Turn off Vibrate on Ring and Silent (Only if you really value battery life over functionality)

    Siri:

Turn off Hey Siri (It helps your Stand By time a lot)

    Battery:

Enable Low Power Mode (This will do most things on the guide but you can't pick which ones to disable and keep)

    Privacy:

    • Location Services:

Make sure all applications are set to "While Using" if it's available.

Turn off "Share My Location" (Unless you like using Find My Friends)

    • System Services:

    Turn off Cell Network Search

Turn off Compass Calibration (Unless you use the Compass App)

Turn off HomeKit (Unless you use this around your home)

    Turn off Location-Based Alerts

    Turn off Location-Based Apple Ads

    Turn off Location Based Suggestions

Turn off Motion Calibration & Distance (Unless you use the Health App)

Turn off Setting Time Zone (Unless you travel a lot)

Turn off Share My Location (Unless you are using Find My Friends)

    Turn off Wifi Networking

    Turn off Frequent Locations

    Turn off Diagnostics & Usage

    Turn off Popular Near Me

    Turn off Routing & Traffic

Select "Don't Send" in Diagnostics & Usage

Turn on "Limit Ad Tracking" in Advertising

    iCloud:

Turn off Use Cellular Data inside iCloud Drive

    iTunes & App Stores:

Turn off all options for Automatic Downloads

    Turn off Use Cellular Data

    Wallet & Apple Pay:

Turn off Allow Payments on Mac(Unless you own a Mac Computer)

    Mail:

Turn off Push and make all accounts Manual (Unless it's important for you to get notifications on your mail)

    Messages:

Turn off Raise to Listen (I don't think this would save any battery life but can't hurt either)

    CYDIA TWEAKS:

Activator - Many things can be done with this to save battery life

NoPaperLax - Removes parallax effect from home screen but keeps animations everywhere else

    SmartLowPower - Suggested by SageBait

IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE TIPS, PLEASE ADD MORE

[Question](Not JB related) Mods, can we ban petition posts?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2018 01:26 PM PST

They're just spam and having 15 petitions with 300-3000 signatures isnt going to do shit. Apple isnt going to sign older FW so we can Jailbreak and your excuse of "New FW slows down devices" isnt going to work.

[Tutorial] Guide to FULLY uninstall To.panga/Ready device for future Cydia update

    Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:44 PM PST

Hey all. So if you were like me and either drunk or excited during Christmas when some only-slightly-better-than-malware was released called To.panga, you may have installed it. Unfortunately, this was a mistake and probably broke your device - personally I was unable to use any SSH commands. This is because to.panga installed 32bit binaries overtop of default ones included with many jailbreaks that can't be used on 64bit iOS 11!

Anyway, here's how we will fix this!

First of all, go to this link here: https://dbr.ee/oMPN and download the bootstrap.tar. We will be using this file as a guide of what to remove from your device. This is the file that was unpacked, and shotgunned across your entire OS pretty much entirely just for the fucking sake of it. Most of these files are broken, useless, or just plain not used and are totally unnecessary. A large portion of them are leftovers from Yalu102 and not used at all in any current iOS 11 jailbreak solutions either. So let's get to fixing them!

Unzip the bootstrap and notice the file it created: it's essentially the "/" of your iOS device. The easiest next step is to install Electra (LiberiOS doesn't support SFTP) and SFTP into your device. You can use Filza for this, but it'd be pretty painful in my opinion. Access your filesystem with your method of choice, and look in the bootstrap. You'll see 'Applications' is first - and the only file in it is Cydia.app. So, on our device we will navigate to Applications, and delete the Cydia.app.

Essentially, the trick is to just keep doing this for every single file that you find in this bootstrap folder. I would recommend doing this VERY slowly, and with individual files as it's extremely easy to get confused and fuck something up. I'm pretty experienced and it still took me the course of nearly an hour to do this successfully.

Once you get all of that done, download LiberiOS and install it, then run through SSH and export the full binpack

    export PATH=$PATH:/jb/usr/bin:/jb/bin:/jb/sbin:/jb/usr/sbin:/jb/usr/local/bin:

And you will be good to go! No more "Bad CPU type in executable" :)

    So here's the simple overview:

    Download https://dbr.ee/oMPN.

    Extract it.

The child folder it creates - probably "bootstrap.tar Folder" - will act as a comparative to the root of your iOS device.

Access the filesystem on your device, and go to the root.

Following the folder you extracted, visit every file that's in the folder (first example is in Applications/Cydia.app) and delete the corresponding file ON YOUR DEVICE.

Do this for every single file in the bootstrap folder.

Be really careful, triple check each file before you delete, etc.

Afterward, reinstall LiberiOS and jailbreak with it, then follow the instructions over SSH.

[Discussion] Why do people want iMods back? It’s the last thing we need, and here’s why

    Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:59 AM PST

First, a quick word about my credibility

So you guys may remember me from my rant about Installer 5. After recent events, news, and speaking to the developer personally, I'd like to first of retract that. It was written horribly and sounded like a whine rather than discussion. I literally got hate mail for that post.

So anyone who knows me "as that guy who trolls Installer 5", one that's not true and second I've changed my opinion. Now that's out of the way, I'd like everyone to keep an open mind.

(Incoming wall of text) Background: iMods was a Cydia alternative endorsed by Comex that aimed to be more AppStore-like. They wanted a closed system; aka no third party repos.

Recently, iMods, a failed Cydia alternative, has been open sourced. In the comments and some posts, users started saying that using it would be a good idea:

We're not reliant on Substrate anymore b/c of substitute... perfect time for iMods to gain steam

    Coolstar should use iMods

Hopefully coolstar can integrate this into his platform so we don't have to wait for Cydia

    ... with many upvotes

You realize why iMods failed right? Substitute was created for them by Comex. They had everything going for them. The developers of iMods just didn't know what they were doing and how to handle purchase management. They had a substrate alternative built for their platform. They had community support. They had Comex partially backing them, yet they only got to "beta 500" in their store which had a grand total of 5 tweaks.

They failed because they tried to make jailbreaking a closed system; iMods was to be an AppStore-like store. Forget third party repos. Forget any developer they didn't like. Forget actual freedom of your device. Saurik and other community members fought long and hard to prevent this from happening, and we should too. One developer went so far as to almost introduce his own CodeSigning method that verified the integrity of tweaks on bootup. If this happened, we would end up with "jailbreak-jailbreaks" in order to fully free your device.

If you look at failed Cydia alternatives and package managers, the pattern in clear.

    • ICY - closed system
    • RipDev's Installer - closed system
    • iMods - closed system
    • "MuscleNerd's" Cydia alternative - closed system

    Now the successful package managers

    • Cydia - open system
    • Original Installer - open system

If you think a cydia alternative is necessary, then at least support Installer 5. They want to be an open system; which is fundamentally better for the community, and actually possible to be successful. And that's coming from someone who still doesn't like Installer 5.

We do not want iMods 2.0

Tl;dr iMods was a bad concept that never got off the ground. It tried to enforce a closed system on the jailbreak community; and even with the support of Comex, a Cydia substrate alternative built for their platform, and community support they failed.

iMods is fundamentally flawed, and the last thing we need.

[Discussion] Set up a server to save SHSH blobs when Apple starts signing again?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2018 08:36 AM PST

As we all know, a few days ago Apple started signing a lot of ancient firmwares for many devices I have.. unfortunately I was asleep and missed the signing window. So, I was wondering if there is any way I could set up, for example, a Raspberry Pi to save SHSH blobs for devices I own if Apple starts signing old firmwares again.

Basically I just want a constantly running Raspberry Pi to check the status of signing (of IPSW.me or Apple official TSS Server) and save all SHSH blobs for a device I own if an older firmware becomes signed again.

Any help on how I would be able to make this happen would be greatly appreciated as I definitely do not want to miss another signing window (if it ever happens again).

EDIT 1: I've seen a site with similar functionality to what I am looking for, but I want a local solution with: 1) Signing status detection, and 2) automatic saving.

EDIT 2: Looks like Raspberry Pi is not compatible with TSSChecker...

EDIT 3: So I now have access to a remote Linux server so I don't have to be limited to a Raspberry Pi. Hopefully it is easier that way.
