Games similar to Kingdoms of Heckfire?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 07:24 AM PST

So I've been playing KoH for a couple of months now and I really like the graphics and gameplay, but it is very much P2W. I don't really have the money to keep dumping into it and am not having much fun anymore without the growth. Has anyone found anything similar? I'd like to find something that is still a building game, with the gathering, chat system, graphics, not necessarily clan or war heavy. I'm not a fan of relying on others and usually stay away from games where clans are an integral part. Any ideas or suggestions?

Parents, what are some fun and educational games that a parent and child (5+) can play together on one device?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 02:07 AM PST

My 6 year old's not really allowed much time on the iPad, but whenever I've found a game for her, we've always run into the issue of having to explain why we cannot do this or do that (because it costs money). I'm not a huge gamer as such and neither is my wife so we're not really sure where to go because most of the google results are games that are limited to maybe 5 minutes of playtime before you need to pay to proceed.

We're looking for something fun to play as a family, but apart from developing some of her problem solving skills, we were wondering if there was anything out there that was educational as well. Perhaps something like scholastic's Magic School Bus or something of the sort?

    Thanks for the help!

    Great gameplay, story, and beginning-middle-end?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 10:16 AM PST

XCOM, FFT, Oceanhorn, Bastion, Battleheart, Transistor...what else?

Lot of reccs on here for ARPG's, which can be fun, but many of them more or less feel the same. Looking for a game that is driven by a story, but not one of those story-only games like the room.

    Thanks!

    EDIT: forgot to add KOTOR

How long does it take to get used to Virtual Sticks? Is there a "best way" to grip the iPad?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2018 07:52 AM PST

So, I started gaming more and more on my iPad Pro 10.5, and I picked up Arena of Valor, but I am struggling to adjust to holding the iPad with my thumb in the bottom corners (top heavy) and the virtual stick feels very imprecise.

Mobile is a hugely popular gaming platform, is it just me needing to get used to it (like PC players moving to a controller?) I can't imagine playing games like Rules of Survival or any FPS like this, but so many people do...

Looking for a game where I level up my character... get better gear etc.

Doesn't have to be multiplayer or single player. Either or is fine. But something fun and not super glitchy. Thanks guys and gals.

Kinds of games I'm looking for

    Posted: 29 Jan 2018 02:18 PM PST

(I would prefer paid offline games over f2p for plane rides)

Firstly, I'm looking for games with a strong sense of progression and upgrade as you continue playing, i.e. worthwhile goals to work towards. Perhaps it could be some kind of base building game, a mangement game, an rpg, etc.

I'd also like to find a good RTS game or resource management game. I'm yet to discover a base building game that isn't pay to win with the market oversaturated with CoC clones. Having the ability to have my own home/ home base I could improve upon would be cool too. Games where you manage places such as restaurants, markets, etc. could also fall into the category. Even settlement/ village building and managing or defending would be great.

I'm pretty interested in relaxing simulator games that I could kill time with too. Like games where you are driving trains, planes or busses, etc.

Finally I'm curious if there are any good single player games similar to Grand Theft Auto (not including the Rockstar apps)

I apologize if stuff like this has been asked a lot, I'm just trying to scratch a gaming itch I haven't had in quite while. Any recommendations or links to relevant threads are greatly appreciated!
