    I hate iOS’s music widget.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 03:02 PM PST

I've had an iPhone for 5 months now and this bothers me more than anything else because of how often it affects me.

I'm playing music on Spotify using headphones and browsing twitter or reddit at the same time. I come across a video I want to watch so I play it. The music stops and the video plays. After the video ends, the music does not resume. I can't even swipe up to hit play from the music applet. It's just blank. What's the point of it if it doesn't remember what app I was playing music from ?

Is there something I can do to mitigate this ?

I’m an Apple technician. Ask me anything about the battery price drop that won’t threaten my terms of employment.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:05 PM PST

EDIT: I'm a technician at the Genius Bar

EDIT 2: Though i appreciate the interesting questions, this post was intended to answer any questions specifically on how to go about getting the battery replaced, or related to the battery in general.

    I'm all ears.

Has anyone noticed that the iOS user experience has become more glitchy?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 03:47 AM PST

I've been an iOS user since 2009 and I noticed that the stability of the OS as a whole has decreased since then.

I recently upgraded from a 6s to an 8 hoping to resolve any bugs I was facing but a lot of them just stuck around. Many apps would crash, most of the times the music player in CC wouldn't be in sync with the music player, iMessage would glitch a lot, etc...

I'm not trying to diss iOS because I absolutely love iOS and the whole Apple ecosystem. I just wanted to see whether I'm alone or not. Also, I'm not complaining about the speed just the stability.

So, anyone else experience a random iPhone female countdown voice?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:42 AM PST

First time this happened was at my girlfriend's house when I noticed everyone looking at my phone and saying "There was a woman's voice counting down from 10, why was your phone doing that?"

I laughed it off and thought nothing of it...until literally a minute ago when a notification sound came on and a woman's voice in an American accent starting counting down from 10, hit 0 and nothing happened. I just held my phone in my hand in total confusion. I'd like to add, it wasn't Siri's voice either.

    What. The. Fuck?

Anyone else experienced this?! I can't seem to find anything on Google about it.

Edit: Mystery solved! I went through all my app notifications and found that it was an app called "DreamZ" that was doing it for some reason.

Is the MacBook Pro 13” better with or without the touchbar?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 03:13 PM PST

I'm going into uni this year (starting late feb) and was looking to get a macbook pro for my courses. I am studying software engineering and was just wondering if it was more worth getting the mac with or without the touchbar.

Edit: Thank you so much for the responses, I think I'm going to go without touch bar and then build another PC.

Rest In Peace my iPod “Classic” 5

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:02 PM PST

My iPod 5 30gb finally after 12 years died. My entire music library was on there, and a few videos that are no where else, are on that hard drive... I used that everyday so much more style than an iPhone. Rip I'll try to find you an SDD.

    To Pixel and Back Again

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 06:40 PM PST

So it has been about 5 years since I used Android. A couple of weeks ago I decided to get a Pixel 2 and embrace the "openness" of Android. I felt like I was tired of the walled garden of Apple. After using it the last two weeks I realized I had no idea what I was missing in iOS that made me feel like I could not install or do what I wanted. I looked into rooting and seeing what could be done. After all that I realize I just don't care. I had a really hard time getting used to the different keyboards I tried and just navigation in general annoyed me.

I returned it and picked up an iPhone 6. Even with a phone this old. I love how it feels so much more than I did the Pixel.

This is not meant to be an I hate Android post. Just feel like for some people the things you can do on Android that people talk about are not that important, to me anyways. It just took me leaving for a bit to realize it.

Are many of you using an iPhone 6 with iOS11? Having any major issues?

Edit: looks like there are lots of posts about iPhone 6 and iOS 11 already so this may be repetitive. Reading through those.

I'm an Android user and recently got a free iPhone 6 and was wondering compared to some other models if this one still holds up? I'll delete this later I'm just curious atm.

iPhone X tip: when moving/deleting apps, instead of tapping “done” in the top right, just swipe up from the bottom of the screen! Just discovered this.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 05:11 PM PST

Idea: Apple should use FaceID to increase the screen brightness when it sees you're wearing sunglasses.
