I've formatting multiple times already, every time it's the same issue, that Windows 10 can't install to that partition because it's not NFTS. When i looked up how to do this I read I should select 'Master Boot Record' under the options menu in Disk Utility, but this option is greyed out and I am unable to choose it. When setting up my computer, i set up a sole user account, with my name and a password. Now i want to change the user name to something else. I have gone to system preferences>users & groups>Click lock to make changes>i secondary-clicked the current user>advanced options. When i got to advanced options, i changed my user name in the advanced options, but when i restarted my computer, the change was not effected. When i tried to go through that whole process again, i found out i was not able to log back in because it does not recognise both my new and old user names. | Should I upgrade to the newest macOS? Posted: 30 Jan 2018 05:12 PM PST So let me start by saying I'm ready to throw my Mac off Mount Everest with how awful it's been lately. I've had my 13 inch MacBook Pro (early 2011 model) for almost 7 years now. It's been great to me, but it's time for a new laptop. It's beyond slow, apps (like safari) randomly won't open, and everything freezes. It just doesn't have the power to do tasks like it used to. I don't really have the money for a brand new MBP right now, so I'm trying to hold off as long as I can, but it's becoming really tough. I've been holding off on upgrading to the new macOS because I assumed it would make my problem worse, but I'm starting to think otherwise. Anyone have suggestions? Should I upgrade? | MacBook Air High Fan Speed / Running Slow Posted: 30 Jan 2018 08:38 PM PST Hi r/applehelp, my MacBook Air has been running an incredibly high fan speed while also running extremely slow for about a week now, even when I do not have any applications open (the laptop rarely, if ever, feels hot). This issue has happened before, but it's gone away much sooner in previous instances. I've reset the SMC multiple times and I have upgraded to the newest version of Flash. | Why is iTunes creating massive files on my Windows 8 computer? Posted: 30 Jan 2018 04:18 PM PST About two weeks ago my Windows 8 computer started giving me warnings about running out of storage. After some investigating I find out that every time I start up iTunes a log is created in c:>Users>AppData>Roaming>Apple Computer>Logs. The file is just massive. I started it up and had it on for about 3 minutes before shutting it down and it created a text file "asl.190944_30Jan18" that was over 100mb. When I first noticed this, I had to delete a number of these "logs" that were well over 200gb in size. As of around 6:30 US Central Time, I haven't been able to receive or send any messages on my Macbook. Whenever I try to send a message, the blue loading bar on the top of the chat pops up, but the message never goes through. I've changed networks, and the internet is working just fine. Once it was replaced for a new one, but after the Apple warranty run out, I filed for a refund to a shop where I had bought it. Even though the phone gets stuck easily, switches on and opens up apps extrelemy slowly, and in messenger the keybord does not appear apple repair center (where the shop has sent the phone to) refuses to acknowledge these problems. Three times I've filed the complaint and three times the repair center denied their existance having just updated the iOS. What do I do? I couldn't find anything online when I looked this up and was hoping someone would know what caused this damage to my screen so that I can hopefully prevent it from worsening. I have a 13" MacBook Air that I bought new in June 2015 (I think it's the 2014 or 2015 model.) A couple months ago a friend noticed my screen was dark in the middle, and I'm not sure if it's getting worse or it's just bothering me more now that I notice it all the time. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures but it's only dark in the shape of the logo on the outside of the computer (you can see an indent on the left side of the shape that matches up with the bite out of the apple logo on the other side.) I keep my laptop in a case but carry it around daily in a backpack, is it possible this was caused by books laying on top of it? I don't really carry heavy books but maybe there was strain from too much stuffed into one backpack. | Posted: 30 Jan 2018 05:54 PM PST I have an hp envy 24" (I think thats the size) that charges my Mac and drives the monitor through one thunderbolt cable. Its a great cheaper alternative to apples crazy expensive LG monitors. My only dilemma is that the animations and everything are much smoother when I have the resolution for the monitor at either 4k or 1080p. Obviously 1080p will look way too large with this monitor and not utilize its full ability, however though 4k looks much better - everything is sooo tiny. Scaled resolution make the animations and everything run a little more slower and choppy. Is there recommendations where I can drive the monitor at 4k but have the overall ui scaled at an appropriate size? Thanks [link] [comments]  |
