'Activation Session Invalid' - iPad won't activate after update Posted: 30 Jan 2018 10:48 AM PST Hey guys, I recently bought an used iPad from eBay (Air, 1st Generation). However, after updating to the newest iOS, it won't activate. I tried everything
After specifying my region and language and logging into my WiFi it starts the activation process but after a few seconds it says 'Activation Session Invalid (Screenshot from iTunes, where it says the same). I spent the whole day looking for a solution but didn't find any. Am I really the only one? I also contacted Apple and they told me I could send it in for a repair but they would charge me 300 Euros (holy cow). Isn't there any other way like resetting the firmware (not just the software) so the server recognises the iPad again? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
ZAGG Rugged Book equivalent for iPad Pro Posted: 30 Jan 2018 07:22 AM PST I'm currently using an iPad Air 2 with a ZAGG Rugged Book: https://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/keyboards/rugged-book-keyboard-case I'm considering upgrading to an iPad Pro (either size) mostly for the better screen and because it is time for a new iPad anyway (battery life diminished) and might as well get the latest and greatest. I use this as my daily driver / laptop replacement though, and so I need a keyboard like the Rugged Book. I absolutely despise "kick stands." Everything I find has a kick stand, including Apple's own solution. Does anyone make something like that for the iPad Pro (either size)? I don't necessarily need the rugged aspect, but it is nice. Basically I want a touch screen MacBook that runs iOS. ;) [link] [comments] |
6 months later...garageband still not fixed in iOS 11 Posted: 30 Jan 2018 03:36 AM PST so around the time of iOS 11, apple updated GarageBand and completely ruined the scaling of GarageBand. In normal smart instrument mode, some of the loop or midi chart bleeds into the top of the screen taking up valuable keyboard space. Now when you use the dual smart pianos you still have to see the velocity trigger and instrument changer with a third of the screen space wasted. Before you had the entire space below the timeline. I am using 2nd gen 12.9 and it was fine for a couple months. Around or just before iOS 11 apple an update forced this change it in what I could only assume at the time was a bug, but we've had several updates since. I remember seeing a couple threads about this a while ago, but I felt it needed to be complained about again since it's a change for the worse that has been neglected. Please apple if you somehow see this thread, change it back so we can get more screen space for the smart instruments. [link] [comments] |
Can’t zoom out (full view) on images that are too big to fit in safari Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:28 AM PST Is there any way to see the entire image instead of the full scale zoomed in view? Screenshot of what I see: https://i.imgur.com/m3kTSL7.jpg This is only the top of the image I'm looking at and no matter what I try I can't get it to show the full image... Pinching out just takes me to the overview of all windows Can't find anything online, hope someone here can help? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Apple Music playback stops after a while when iPad is locked Posted: 30 Jan 2018 07:41 AM PST Anyone knows what this is about? I use my iPad to listen to music while falling asleep and it stops playback after 3-4 songs. Screen is locked, airplane mode is on (yes, the songs are downloaded and they're played if i start the playback again manually) [link] [comments] |
Reduced touch sensitivity while charging iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) Posted: 30 Jan 2018 03:53 AM PST anyone else notice this while charging? It misses touch input and must press much harder on the screen to register wherever i press. [link] [comments] |
Drawing figure on iPad Pro and 'copying' to Macbook Pro? Posted: 30 Jan 2018 09:19 AM PST Hi iPadders, I'm looking to better incorporate a 10.5 iPad Pro into my teaching and research workflow, and one way to do that is to be able to draw figures in <ProgramX> on the iPad and then copy-paste them into Powerpoint on my mac. I was hoping I could use universal clipboard for this, but I haven't found a drawing program where that works. I'm pretty new to this, and I'm happy for any suggestions in general. edit: An ideal option would be to draw something in any program on the iPad and then manually select what I want to copy like a local screen grab and then paste that over. I've tried taking screenshots using the hardware button shortcuts, but it's tedious hit the buttons, open the image, and airdrop it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jan 2018 08:53 AM PST I'm a long-time Android user, but no Android tablets really seem worth the money, and they're terrible at getting updates, so I have pulled the trigger and ordered a 10.5" iPad Pro 256gb this morning. I'm really looking forward to it, and am optimistic and hopeful that the switch will go well. I am looking at the following accessories: I am also debating getting a 3rd party stylus, since it might be nice, but I'd want to see if I'd even use the thing before shelling out $120+ Canadian dollars for the Apple Pencil. Any suggestions or alternative options that might be better would be greatly appreciated! (please remember I am in Canada, so amazon.com and such aren't really options without exchange rate/import duties/etc). [link] [comments] |
About to pick up my first iPad, trouble deciding between Mini 4 and 2017 Posted: 30 Jan 2018 10:11 AM PST Let me start off with this: the one thing that's holding me back from picking up 2017 is the Mini form factor. Absolutely in love with it. The extra battery life in the 2017 is pretty big for me. Not a fan of charging devices twice a day. I don't plan on heavy gaming use--maybe a few lighter games like Minecraft and Fez--but I mainly just need access to the library of iOS-exclusive apps I left behind when I switched from a 6S to an Android phone. Not sure how much the A8 would lag behind the A9 in this aspect. Can't say I'll be multitasking or typing too much, so the screen size shouldn't be an issue. I'm also fine with not receiving the latest iOS updates. When Apple drops support, I'll likely jailbreak it. Finally, Pro is unfortunately out of my budget range. Did I just convince myself to get a Mini 4, or should I wait for a possible Mini 5 announcement? Should I reconsider the 2017 from a different perspective? [link] [comments] |
Need suggestions on how to trade in my iPads Posted: 30 Jan 2018 12:55 AM PST Hello everyone, I need help regarding trading in my iPads. I have an old 32gb iPad Air 1st generation with a barely noticeable bright spot near the bottom left corner of the screen and several scratches on the Apple logo and a 64gb iPad Air 2nd generation that is relatively mint, save for a very small ding near the side microphone. Can anyone suggest a good strategy for trading these in? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
I have an iPad Pro 9.7 inch, and I'm experiencing a charging problem with keyboard Posted: 29 Jan 2018 07:53 PM PST I have a Logitech keyboard I bought at the Apple store, and it doesn't connect via Bluetooth but the three prongs on the iPad itself (on the side of the metal). It's very useful to have but there is a problem, whenever I'm charging my iPad, and I place the keyboard onto the prongs it stops the charging, and I have to report it back in. Has anyone else experienced this ir do you guys know anyway of fixing it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jan 2018 08:46 AM PST My iPad Mini 2 was (flawlessly) running iOS 9 until my girlfriend accidentally pressed the iOS upgrade button. iOS 11 is too much slow than iOS 9, I would like to downgrade to iOS 9 or at least to iOS 10. A quick Google search revealed that it's not possible (sign closed, no shsh blobs). Is there another way? [link] [comments] |
Does your pencil drain to 0% if BT is off and it's not used? Posted: 29 Jan 2018 03:51 PM PST After reading all the threads here and turning off iPad bluetooth and leaving the pencil well alone on a side table it was still totally dead (0%) when I went to use it a few weeks later. Am I expecting too much that it retain some charge over a few weeks, or is it really that poorly designed that it needs constant charging? I imagine having to charge it every few days will mean the internal battery will last about a year before it barely holds any charge. Seems like another sad case of form over function from Apple. Posted: 29 Jan 2018 03:23 PM PST So I have an iPad Air (Model number MD786LL/B; 32 GB; wifi only) I've had it for about 3 years and I haven't had any issues with it. Starting in about October, it started dying very quickly. It will last about 45 minutes and say it is at about 80% to 90%, and then it will die. When i plug it into a power source, it will turn on and say it is immediately at about 60%. Other than the battery life issue it hasn't had any problems, since all I use it for is taking notes in Notability and browsing reddit and email. I am still on IOS 11.0.3 if that matters. Is there a way to fix it myself or should I call Apple for a battery replacement? I am willing to pay the $99 to replace it, unless people here recommend coughing up another $300 for a new one. Local (not apple) Store screwed up fixing broken screen. Posted: 29 Jan 2018 05:24 PM PST Basically, I had a broken screen, turned it in to be fixed for $150. Got it back with new glass on top and touchpad goes crazy. So if I want to touch on an app on the bottom right, it goes to the center and uses that one. They refuse to fix it or return my money... does anyone know what my legal options are?? [link] [comments] |
Need advice: testing a second hand apple pencil before buying it Posted: 29 Jan 2018 09:24 PM PST I'm going to buy a second-hand apple pencil off kijiji tomorrow, and I'm meeting up in person to buy it. What sort of things should I test to make sure that it's working properly? I will certainly test that it charges, pairs and writes properly, but other than that, is there anything else I should look for? I haven't used one of them before, and given that their use-case for me is pretty minimal, I'd like to avoid buying brand new. Also, I'm not in the US, so I can't buy them refurbished, so it's either second-hand or brand new. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
iPad 9.7inch (2017) gaming stuttering problem Posted: 29 Jan 2018 08:41 PM PST I've been experiencing some stuttering lag on my newly bought iPad 2017 when playing the game Summoners War and Hyper Breaker Turbo the same way it is shown in these videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSn7blOwOWA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FDQzZpqL2w This stutter is non existent when playing on my old iPad Air 1. Anyone find a solution to this yet? I'm on iOS 11.2.5. [link] [comments] |
Is my theory correct re: Ipad Pro sizes? Posted: 30 Jan 2018 03:29 AM PST Since the internals are the same, if I want better performance in games and apps framerate wise, I'm better getting the smaller dimensions of the two, correct? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way you can reduce the bass on the iPad Pro 12,9 2nd Gen? Posted: 29 Jan 2018 04:49 PM PST I got one recently, was trying out some games and stuff, the strength of the bass sounds is quite loud, is there anywhere in the settings i can adjust this? I'm aware the music app has an equalizer, but i'm looking for something more global [link] [comments] |
