An iPhone 6 battery, next to an iPod Nano 4th gen

Biggest thing I like about filming in 4K on the iPhone 8+ is taking images from the crystal clear video. This was At WWE live tonight I’m Winnipeg. Shot at 4K 60fps and then took a screenshot and cropped it.

Has anyone else been surprised that Live Photos has become indispensable to them?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 06:38 AM PDT

Honestly when I was rocking the iPhone 5s and hearing the one of the 6s' big camera improvements was some new gimmick called "Live Photos" I was just as disparaging as most.

I mean, a photo that also has a 3 second video wrapping around it? Who cares?

But kind of like how I came around on AirPods (I still think they look stupid, but I can't imagine my daily life without them), Live Photos is on by default for me and I can never imagine toggling it off. I never realized how many tiny, intimate or fun moments can happen in that moment before and after you press the shutter. It doesn't happen all the time, but those rare moments where something great does happen justifies the features existence and my dependence on it completely.

The initial announcement still feels like empty PR garbage, and I kind of feel like a shill telling my friends, "It's like capturing a moment plus," but that's what it feels like. You get the picture you meant to take, but more if you were interested in seeing it. There's no downside to it.

Honestly, I'd rather Apple spend more R&D fully fleshing out Live Photos than Portrait mode. I like what iOS 11 brought to LPs (although I'm still wary to upgrade and use the features until Apple completely works out the kinks), but selecting key frames and a couple of extra view modes seems kind of skimp.

Just kind of felt like sharing because someone I know earlier today asked me why I used it when taking a picture at a baseball game, saying it was something they didn't care about at all on their 6s and hadn't used more than a handful of times in two years. He was shocked when I showed him my LPs album had nearly 1400 pictures.

I just updated from iPhone 6 to iPhone 8.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 09:05 AM PDT

And I love haptic feedback! :) It's all around in the OS, in so many apps too.

Took me a few minutes to figure out that there is no Home Button in the new iPhone; it was 'pressing', but not actually pressing!

Picking up the phone and the screen automatically coming on rocks as well.

Nothing important, but I just wanted to post this.

IOS 11 Screenshots Can Be Swiped Left

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:20 AM PDT

Did you know that after you take a screenshot you can just swipe the little box left to immediately save it, without opening the editing interface? This is extremely useful if you have no need to edit it, you want to take a bunch quickly, or you just hate the new screenshot editor entirely.

I had no idea you could swipe them left to save, someone else showed me. So I hope this post informs others about this nifty trick.

    iPhone/iOS 11 wallpapers

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 04:33 AM PDT

Has anyone got a version of the flowery iPhone wallpapers from iOS 11 without the actual flowers so it's just the gradients? The colours are exceptional but I'd prefer just the plain gradient

    Thanks

Handle with Care: Apple is charging more to replace a broken iPhone 8 back than a broken screen

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 02:13 AM PDT

Walmart is offering $100 off the iPhone 8. Should I grab one or wait until Black Friday for better deals?

Looking to get an iPhone for my brother

He is due for an upgrade from Verizon but his phone is smashed so he cant trade it in

I know last year Best Buy had a trade in promo for iPhone 7 but I was wondering if there were any other sales during BF that didnt require a trade in

At this point a new iPhone 8 for $599 when Apple sells an iPhone 7 for $550 is a great deal considering you get 32GB more storage and a phone that is a year newer for only $50 more

    I’m late for work.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 02:37 AM PDT

So it turns out in the new iOS, listening to music cancels an alarm. Literally no buzzer for the alarm, simply the message popping up on the screen saying it's going off. Already knew the new iOS was shit, but that takes the fucking piss.

All I Need To Know About Preordering?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 07:53 AM PDT

This will be my first time preordering an iPhone with the launch of the iPhone X. I've got the phone saved to My Favorites on the Apple Store App, and I'm on my parents' Verizon account. What can I expect when the X goes live and I press "Continue"? I'll be one of the people up at 3 AM to preorder and I would like to know everything I can so it goes smoothly without having to get information from my parents at such a time.

    Thanks!

    Smart Battery Case or Zerolemon

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 04:18 AM PDT

So, I have an iPhone 7 and battery isn't that good, I'm thinking about buying an battery case.

The Apple one is lighter and I think it looks better than zerolemon, but it has less power. I think integration is a big deal too.

Anyone has thoughts about it? I really can't decide myself

Should I consider replacing my battery or is it still okay?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 06:18 AM PDT

I've started with 100% 6 hours ago and now I'm sitting here with 11% after a usage of 3 hours 50minutes and 6 hours standby.

Should I worry about it or is it fine?

How can I get my battery section to show my usage/idle times?

Sometimes it'll show my usage and idle times, but most of the time it won't. Here is a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/4mGHY

    That's over 47 years.

I rolled back from iOS 11 to iOS 10 on my iPhone 6. It feels like I have a new phone.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2017 11:49 AM PDT

I used iOS 11 for about 10 ten days on my iPhone 6, which I've had since late 2014. As I started to use it the next few days in the real world I started noticing delays in just about everything I did. It felt gross and laggy. All smoothness and efficiency was gone. The last straw was yesterday when I was sending a text message. I tapped on Messages, which normally opens up right away, and there was a delay opening message. When it opened, I went to start typing a message and had to wait 2-3 seconds for the text to catch up to my input. That is frustrating as hell. That's unacceptable as I've never had an issue like this in the three years of having this phone.

Being back on iOS 10 is a breath of fresh air. Everything is so fast and appliance-like. Everything is instant and just works. I never question it's efficiency. I feel like I got a new phone.

This was all on an iPhone 6. I don't know what the other models are like. If you're like me, on this model, I'd recommend rolling back while you still can.

    Authenticator question

    Posted: 01 Oct 2017 04:37 AM PDT

I'm planning to switch iPhones first and I want to make sure I don't lose authenticator that I use for multiple emails. If I backup my iPhone then put the backup on the new iPhone will the authenticator app be there and still work?
