Active stylus on iPad Pro problem

    Posted: 25 Oct 2017 08:32 AM PDT

I'm having a strange problem with an active stylus, and I'm don't know enough about how they work to troubleshoot, so I'm posting here. I bought the Ciscle Active Stylus on Amazon for my 10.5" iPad Pro. Worked great for a couple days, now it's not working at all. I blamed the stylus and was about to send it back, but then I realized it worked fine on my iPhone 7. But not my iPad Pro anymore. I have rebooted the iPad Pro several times, but still nothing.

Does anyone know why it may not be working oh my iPad Pro anymore, but still works phone on my iPhone 7? I'm out of ideas for troubleshooting this..

    10.5 64gb for $525 OR 256gb for $675

From that Best Buy sale going on. Heading back to college in January so that'll be the main use. You think 64gb wireless + cloud storage would suffice? Opinions?

After mostly using my iPad for months, my Mac feels outdated

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 06:46 PM PDT

I know, I know. Macs (and other desktop OS') have their place. There are plenty of things that can't be done well on an iPad.

That being said, after mostly using my iPad for several months of work (a lot of document creation & editing, presentations, e-mails, calendaring), pulling out my Mac this week felt like a step back in time. Hard to quantify what it was; the UI? The tedious work of fully uninstalling large programs? The cursor & trackpad? The slow upgrade to High Sierra. Whatever it was, before I realized what I was saying, I said (out loud), "Wow—this feels so old."

I am a fan of the iPad and HOPE they figure out how to grow it's utility without overly complicating it.

Help buying a new/used iPad for grandpa

    Posted: 25 Oct 2017 07:55 AM PDT

Was able to narrow my search to a used iPad Air 2 for $225 or a brand new sealed iPad Mini 2 for $200.

The used Air 2 is in good condition but just the iPad only (no box or charger). The mini 2 is brand new and sealed.

What's the better value for a 75 year old who mostly wants to browse the web and look at pictures? Only reason I'm considering the more expensive Air 2 is the better processor and the bigger screen may help him see better.

    Thanks!

    Smart Keyboard 10.5 vs 12.9?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 10:58 PM PDT

I am the current owner of a 10.5 iPad Pro and am very interested in purchasing a Smart Keyboard so I can do more typing on my iPad. I have the ability to swap my iPad for the 12.9, and I have checked out both in stores with the keyboard, and just can't make up my mind on what would be the better experience. For you iPad Pro owners out there, do you prefer the Smart Keyboard with the 10.5 or 12.9 iPad Pro? Do you feel like the 10.5 or the 12.9 is the better "laptop replacement"?

    AppleCare+ for iPad

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 08:52 PM PDT

I was wondering if you guys knew what the "criteria" is for having an iPad replaced through AppleCare besides physical damage because I am thoroughly displeased with how my iPad Pro battery is performing since updating to iOS 11. My iPad Air 2 I had before this could easily reach three days without needing a charge and I do the same things on my Pro but it barely lasts a day. Not heavy usage whatsoever just some light YouTube, some drawing and a some gaming. This might sound like a dumb question but i feel like an idiot every time I step into the Apple store, thanks :)

    Questions about the iPad Pro.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2017 02:38 AM PDT

I was thinking of buying an iPad Pro for purpose of Digital notes and had the following questions:

    1. In terms of Writing experience, is the new 10.5 in significantly better than the 9.7 in? I am aware of the better display, but does the improved refresh rate make a stark difference?

    2. For writing, is the 32gb/64gb enough for storage if I make lots of notes? Has anybody found 32gb to be insufficient if they make a lot of notes?

Headphone icon in dock’s recent apps

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 03:11 PM PDT

Noticed this this evening while streaming video from the FileBrowser app to VLC with earbuds. VLC shows a little 🎧 icon when I'm plugged in. When I unplugged my earbuds the most recent app changed to YouTube.

    Seems a little odd.

Looking for some awesome apps for the iPad Pro 12.9

    Posted: 25 Oct 2017 01:04 AM PDT

    Hello,

I recently upgraded from the 9.7 pro to 12.9 pro, because I am looking to switch to the iPad full time, from the MacBook. However, there are a couple of functions that I am looking to achieve, at as cheap a price as possible, preferably free. Any advice/recommendation on the same will be welcome.

    1. Remote Screen Sharing: I have a headless media server at home, that I often need to access when I am traveling. I use static IP on home broadband. Until now, the default Screen Sharing app of macOS has been more than enough. But I am not sure how to achieve that efficiently on the iPad. There is Splashtop, but it has a subscription service, something I am not much of a fan of. Especially if there are free versions available out there, I'd like to explore them first.

    2. Console/Terminal: I often need to connect to networks via FTP/ssh, and also run basic commands like ifconfig. I could find 2 decent apps right now: Terminus and Prompt 2. How effective are they? And are there other terminal-esque apps out there that work more like a traditional console, where I won't have to use a GUI to mention which server I'd like to ssh to?

That's it for now, guys. I hope there are good solutions available for my problems. Thanks in advance.

Prevent individual videos from syncing to other iOS devices?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 11:06 PM PDT

I started playing around with iMovie on my iPad Pro and I'd like to try some full edits with it, either from my drone or Go Pro cycling footage. It looks like iMovie can only open videos from the Photos app. I have a 256 GB iPad so local storage isn't an issue but I don't want to import huge raw video files only to have Photos sync those files to my other devices.

Is there any way around this without totally turning off Photos sync?

Please tell me there is a way to create a table of contents on either word or pages.

    Posted: 24 Oct 2017 02:42 PM PDT

I can't seem to insert a TOC on either of these on my iPad, I already assigned all titles and headers on word but I cant seem to generate the TOC automatically, is it even possible?
