At first I wouldn't be able to shut it down using the normal shutdown option in the menu (still unable to shut it down) and the last few days I have been unable to open Finder unless I restart my computer by pressing and holding on the physical power button on the keyboard. Sorry for this stupid question, my gut feeling says ATT since Cricket is on their network but I want to double check and want the most versatile phone possible. It comes back on sometimes with a restart then goes away when the computer goes to sleep and sometimes just whenever it feel like it. How can I fix this? Would going back to mountain lion fix this? Youtube works fine in Chrome on my user account and works fine in Safari logged in as a guest. The only extensions I have installed are RES & Adblock, turning them off does not fix the problem. | iMessage Log In help on MacBook. Nowhere to type verification code. Posted: 25 Oct 2017 06:45 PM PDT I try to log into my iMessage on my 2010 MacBook Pro. I type in my correct email and password for my iCloud but I am unable to log in because when I receive the 4 digit verification code on my iPhone, there is nowhere to type it in on the MacBook. I used to be able to use my iMessage on this computer before. Maybe it was a OS update which mixed it up? Who knows. I searched on the Apple Reddit, but couldn't figure it out. | MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2016) intermittent system freezing Posted: 25 Oct 2017 03:53 PM PDT I've got a Late 2016 MacBook Pro 15". It's a 2.6GHz i7 with 16GB RAM and a Radeon Pro 450, running 10.13. Ever since I got it (basically at release), it's had an (intermittent) issue where the entire system will freeze (no mouse, keyboard, or Touch Bar response) and will only operate normally again after a hard restart. At first this happened every few weeks, but lately it seems to have increased to every few days. I can't force the issue to occur, but there seems to be a pattern where it tends to happen either on wake from sleep, or when I'm disconnecting the system from an external display. I've tried SMC and NVRAM resets, repairing the disk and disk permissions using disk utility, and even a clean install of Mac OS, but the issue persists. I did a web chat with Tier 1 Apple Support, and they told me I'd need to take the system into a retail store for repair. My problem though is that I rely pretty heavily on this computer for work, and I really can't afford to be without it while it sits in a queue for a major repair. I guess my question is whether anyone else has encountered this problem with the 2016 MBPs, what the cause ended up being, and how Apple addressed the issue. | Posted: 25 Oct 2017 09:39 PM PDT I really messed up today! I plugged a third party adapter into my iPad Pro and now it won't charge and my pencil won't pair. Any recommendations or advice? Has anyone experienced replacing the lightning port in an iPad Pro? Just trying to get an idea of what it's going to cost me to fix this. And no, it's no longer under warranty. I live in a very rural area so there's not an apple store near me and I'm not even sure if there's anyone nearby that can work on them. | Dropped 13" MBPr (Mid-2014); Works, but what to check? Posted: 25 Oct 2017 09:10 PM PDT Well, it finally happened... I dropped it. It was open, sitting on a barstool when I bumped it and it flipped onto the tile. It landed like a tent, with the bottom left corner of the body hitting first and the top left corner of the display hitting second, then it just slid open. I have a case on it so there's no visible damage to the bottom half, but some aluminum has been persuaded out of place on the corner of the display. Everything seems to work as it should, there's no rattling inside with a gentle shake, no new noises or heat or smells... All the keys seem fine, and it shut down and started up fine. My question is- Is there anything I can do to ensure that the hardware is more or less okay? I've got my data backed up and everything so I'm covered on that front, I'm just wondering if there's anything that's generally recommended to check after a fairly significant impact, or anything specific to look into given the way it landed. | Why some devices' bluetooth can auto-connect to a paired device, while some others don't? Posted: 25 Oct 2017 12:00 PM PDT My iphone used to automatically connect to wireless headphone when i turn the headphone on or turn on the phone's bluetooth. the same case with when i turn on the car, the phone (if its bluetooth turned on) will automatically connect to the car. Since it's updated to iOS 11, it stopped doing that. An ipod of mine never auto-connects; i have to go to its setting and press connect the paired device. Is there a difference of setting between devices that auto-connect or not? is it intentionally done, or flaw of the technology? [link] [comments]  |

| Numbers not syncing when using iCloud sharing. Posted: 25 Oct 2017 06:32 PM PDT Hello everyone. I am curious if anyone else out there is experiencing the same issues my Wife and I are seeing with Numbers and the Sharing feature no longer working. We use a Numbers Spreadsheet to share our infants feeding times. This has worked without issue for the last two months, where my Wife or I can add the feeding times into the document and we see the change reflect across all of our devices. It was great, as most apple services are. However, the last two days we're getting this bug where it not only no longer shows the changes but it says "connecting" in the upper right of the document. This never goes away. On our iPhones (6s & 7+. both on 11.0.3) we get the notification of "connecting, Numbers is connecting to iCloud. You'll be able to edit his shared spreadsheet once Numbers is online". On our MacBooks (both on 10.13) we get the same thing. I read somewhere that people have seen the same behavior and they eventually they had to create a new document to share. So I tried this and while I can get it to work prior to sharing when uploading to the iCloud. When I go to share the document I get "Starting Share" that never goes away. •We have verified that we both have fee space in iCloud (more than 10GB left of our 50GB ea. clean). •All devices are signed in correctly to iCloud. •All devices are on the latest OS release •There hasn't been any network changes for us to prevent communication and the issue appears when on Mobile. | iPhone keeps "losing" music after sync Posted: 25 Oct 2017 06:28 PM PDT I was sadly forced to upgrade my iPhone 6S Plus to iOS 11.0.2 recently and have been experiencing a bunch of issues, the most frustrating of which is that every time I sync my music library with iTunes (version 12.6.1.27), a little while after the sync process finishes all the music just... disappears. Not just that, but the space that was used up during the sync (slightly under 50gb) now shows up as "other" storage, which I can't find any way to erase. I've tried resyncing but each time I do, the files disappear and the "other" storage grows in size. It's at the point now where I can't even begin the sync process because iTunes says the phone is over capacity. Aside from restoring the phone, is there anything else I should be considering that might be causing this problem, and any suggestions for how I might stop it from happening and reclaim the space used by the failed syncs? | Terminal on macOS High Sierra won't expand beyond 58 rows. Posted: 25 Oct 2017 06:47 AM PDT macOS 10.13 MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) When using Terminal I cannot expand the window beyond 58 rows, despite my screen having space for more. When I option-click the green maximise button it fills the whole width of the screen, but vertically it only expands to 58 rows, leaving a noticeable gap at the bottom of the screen. Trying to manually resize the window by dragging on the top or bottom of the window has no effect, it refuses to expand beyond 58 rows. This problem did not occur on previous version of OS X, and no other programs have similar problems that I am aware of. [link] [comments]  |
| Possible to control iTunes (iPhone) volume independently from overall volume? Posted: 25 Oct 2017 05:51 PM PDT I am a ride-share driver, and when I'm working I'd like to have iTunes playing my playlist at a fairly low volume while I have Waze or Google Maps (I'm hoping Lyft will allow a connection between their app and Apple Maps one day) giving me directions at a slightly higher volume than iTunes. I can easily do the inverse, because both Waze and Google Maps allow me to control their volumes independently from the overall volume, but I've learned that when I lower iTunes' volume, it lowers the output volume for everything going out to the headphones, which, in turn, lowers the GPS' volume. This is not what I want. Is it possible to decouple iTunes' control of the overall volume? If not possible, I'll have to move to a different player, such as Mix Mash. [link] [comments]  |
| iCloud tabs: one device invisible, but can read Posted: 25 Oct 2017 05:40 PM PDT So I am a heavy user of iCloud tabs to move the things I am reading between my computers, iPads, and iPhone. I recently added a new device (a 10.5" iPad Pro), and while it can see all the other devices fine, none of the other devices can see it in the cloud tabs list. All other iCloud tabs functionality is working as expected between devices, and is nice and responsive. All devices on most recent public OS releases (macOS 10.13, iOS 11.0.3). In other words, if I enumerate my devices as A-D, each device can see the following:
Essentially it's like device D is "invisible" or in a stealth mode where it will read every other device's data but refuses to report it's own. This problem has been persistent since originally purchasing the new device about a month ago, and is slowly driving me crazy. Things I've already tried unsuccessfully:

| Messages not updating on MacBook Pro Posted: 25 Oct 2017 11:43 AM PDT Hello, I recently cloned (SuperDuper!) my Late 2013 MacBook Pro, with both a Intel Iris Pro, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M (2GB) GPU, onto a Mid-2015 MacBook Pro with just an Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB GPU. I generally have one HDMI monitor, and one mDP monitor hooked up at all times. Since the cloning, when I get Messages on my iPhone, they don't always update on the MacBook. It's almost like Messages 'goes to sleep' when it is not in focus, and then I miss messages. I've tried turning off iMessage on my phone, signing out of iCloud, and rebooting (multiple combinations of all 3), as well as the same on my Mac, all to no avail. | Macbook Pro extremely slow, laggy function, brand new Posted: 25 Oct 2017 03:20 PM PDT I purchased my MacBook Pro in early August of this year and it was brand new from the Apple store. It is the 13.3" display. I chose to purchase a Mac for college because I thought it would last me for my degree and it would be worth the spend, but I'm kind of regretting that now. It was working completely fine until as of this week. It lags while it's loading pretty much anything, the effect I have when opening windows is very choppy, scrolling is also very choppy. It's not a smooth running computer at all by any means. A lot of the time it gives me that "beach ball" rainbow circle cursor which goes away in maybe 20 seconds. There's also a large delay when trying to open nearly any application. Mind you, I have nearly nothing downloaded on here so I don't believe it is a RAM problem. I've researched a little into it and I'm guessing it's a hard drive issue. I don't know if this is related but a few weeks ago my laptop began fully charging to 99% instead of 100%. I also ran a hard drive "first aid" test and everything appeared to be fine. I have all software updates up to date, there is no virus and I turn my computer off each night. Any suggestions?
