For a while it only worked when it was plugged in and now it wont turn on at all. I took it down to the apple store and they said they don't do any repairs for iPod classics because they're considered "vintage" now. I was wondering if you guys knew of any services for battery replacements that aren't super expensive and are pretty reliable. I'm in the US btw. [link] [comments]  |

I'm trying to create a new AppleID, so I fill out the information and give it my email (never had an account associated with this email before). Apple tells me that my email is already in use. At first, I think it's rather strange since I haven't previously created an AppleID. Then I decide to try the "forgot my password" option. I submit my email and the response is that my email is not associated with any AppleID. How can my email be associated and not associated at the same time? How do I fix this issue? I've now got 3 chargers... The large 12w from the iPad pro, the smaller one from the iPhone and the Watch magnetic cable... Can I use the 12w charger for my iPad Pro and iPhone? And then plug in the magnetic Watch cable into that 12W plug also, when that has to charge? That way I can put the iPhone charger away in the drawer…(I don't like this many cables lying around :)) I dit see this Apple page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202105 but I'm just double checking because I saw some messages about iPhone 8's batteries bursting out when they were charged… [link] [comments]  |

Hello all, I have a 2015 rMBP with 512GB SSD. I'm running macOS High Sierra. I'd like to Bootcamp my Mac, giving 100GB to the Windows partition. When I started to do this, I noticed that according to Boot Camp Assistant, I am using 459GB of my 500GB of storage; yet in finder, in "About My Mac" I have a reported 310GB free... Clearly there's a lot that doesn't add up. According to the "Manage Storage" window, the system alone is using 266.97GB of storage, which means I couldn't possibly have 310GB free. iStat menus is reporting I have 226GB free... So I guess the real question is... How much space do I really have free? How do I find out? [link] [comments]  |
| How to backup multiple iPhones to a single location/NAS? Posted: 17 Oct 2017 10:07 PM PDT We're slowly migrating (back) to Apple products, including iPhones. The first roadblock is the fact that I couldn't find any way to automatically download/backup all photos and videos to our family NAS/SAMBA server from all our phones. I've made a VM with Windows + iCloud and set it to automatically download, but it only works for one account. Making a new Windows VM for each iPhone is just stupid. My wife and kids don't really use desktops/laptops, so setting their own "PC" to download onto the NAS is not a viable option. I would like to stick with Apple's upload solution because iPhones tend to have issues with background uploads via other apps (tried OneDrive, Google Drive and NextCloud; all had failed uploads after a couple of days). | How to Get Siri to Read Kindle eBooks Posted: 17 Oct 2017 06:10 PM PDT iOS apps such as Pocket allow you to have Siri read articles. I'd like to get the Kindle app to do the same. I rarely have time to sit down and read a book, so prefer to listen to it if possible. I always buy the Audible audiobook version when available, but many titles don't have one. Thoughts? | Posted: 17 Oct 2017 03:58 PM PDT To be more specific my iPad was perfectly fine, I left.. then I returned home and turned on my iPad and seen that the screen was faint and there were "lines" or more like streaks across the screen and it stopped when I turned it fully off and back on but it went back that way and now it's like that for seemingly good. Anybody know anything about it? I assume it's a led issue but I have no clue how to go about fixing that or where to go or how much it will cost. Any help is very appreciated EDIT: whenever I lock then unlock my iPad it's fine for a bit then just goes back to having these streaks [link] [comments]  |

| First time mac user stuck on OS Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Posted: 17 Oct 2017 02:40 PM PDT Bought a Late 2010 Macbook Pro off a friend last night and wiped it clean in order to start fresh. It booted me back to version 10.8.5 and I - obviously - need to software update in order to run most modern programs (bought it mostly for school and some Adobe Lightroom editing). The Issue However, whenever I check for software updates it says no updates are available. I went to apples site to manually download each software update, but I can't find the core OS file (Ex: 10.9.0) only 10.9.1 etc. I'm not really sure what to do from here as I'm really stuck to super basic programs. | High Sierra 10.13 - Garmin Express not working Posted: 17 Oct 2017 06:23 PM PDT I have a Garmin Zumo 660 satnav, which gets sw and map refreshes about once every three months through the Garmin Express app running on my MacBook Pro 2010, connected by USB. This time around the app can't see the satnav. As the refreshes are infrequent I can't be sure that it's an issue with 10.13, but that's what I suspect. Re-installing the app made no difference. Garmin tech support have not been helpful. Any ideas on what the problem is, and how to work around it? Has there been any significant change in something like the driver architecture in 10.13? | Sudden image stabilization issue, iPhone 7. Posted: 17 Oct 2017 06:01 PM PDT EDIT: I meant to type iPhone 6S Plus, not iPhone 7. So after updating to the latest iOS (11.0.3), I've noticed a heavy vibration when I attempt to record video with my iPhone. It's present on everything but the slo-mo setting. I haven't dropped it recently, and certainly not since last recording video or since the update. Really need to record video with my phone for mandatory school assignments, and I need help figuring out if this is a software or hardware issue and how I might go about resolving either of those (can you even FIX the IS if it's a hardware issue?) Ever since I did that I have been having several issues (music player not showing up on lock screen, apps freezing, no speakerphone, etc.) Apple recommended that I create a backup of my phone and do a full restore. Only problem is that I forgot my iCloud password. When I click on "Forgot Password" it asks for credit card information for a card I don't have anymore. I called Apple several times and it seems the only way I can get back into my account is doing account recovery, which takes up to two weeks. In the meantime, I have a phone that glitches and constantly nags me to put in my iCloud password. What should I do? (Also, phone is 11 months old and still covered under Applecare.) | Recording iPad screen with quicktime, no audio is recorded Posted: 17 Oct 2017 01:36 PM PDT I am trying to record some old basketball games on my WNBA app. I can record them find using my iPhone but it isn't really practical to record them that way since I get a bunch of notifications and each game to record would tie up my phone for 2+ hours. I try to screen record using my iPad on quicktime and select the audio to be from my iPad but no go. It records the video just fine, just not the audio. Any solutions? Posted: 17 Oct 2017 09:45 AM PDT I don't know how I got an icloud.com account, but somehow I'm getting a lot of spam emails to [myemail]@icloud.com account in my main [myemail]@me.com account. The iCloud account almost appears and acts as one merged account with my me.com account instead of an alias. | Cannot download from App Store over wifi on several Macs and iPhone. Posted: 17 Oct 2017 01:16 PM PDT Hello. I have a bit of a head scratcher. Today I installed a time machine back up on an old MBP (13" late 2011) because something went wrong and the device wouldn't boot up. After trying all other options I went to the last back up I did. That last back up was on macOS Sierra and I wanted to update the MBP to High Sierra. Not only will it not allow me to do that, it also won't allow me to update any of the apps that are prompting me to update; all requests "Timed Out". I tried to install new apps on my new MBP (13" 2017 none touch-bar) from the App Store and I am having the same problem. I have tried to install apps on my iPhone 6s and the same problem using wifi. All these are linked to the same Apple ID and account. Recently I did use a VPN and I am wondering if this is the cause of my frustration. I have checked with the VPN app and website and the company states that once their app has been closed/ quit then settings return to normal and proxy servers/ VPN are closed. I was/ am worried about VPN leakage. I got this app from the App Store for Mac. Randomly and coincidently my ISP said they were experiencing some down time earlier today and services may be patchy. I have so far restarted my devices, logged out of the App Store(s) and restarted my router and Airport (2nd generation). Also I've reset NVRAM and SMC and nothing has happened. At the moment I've been trying to figure this out for several hours and either I've accidentally done something I shouldn't have... or I am the victim of several very odd coincidences and wi-fi/ ISP is playing a cruel game with me. Note that all other services are working fine, sometimes websites take an extra couple of seconds to load but others than that nothing out of the ordinary is happening except a weird inability to download/ update apps from the App Store. Random last thought. I am wondering if the back up I used was from my new 2017 MBP and not my 2011 MBP... could this cause this level of confusion? Sorry for the long ramble... I think I have head scratched so much this evening that I've given myself a bald patch. TL;DR Can't download from App Stores on Apple platforms over wifi. All requests time out. | USB C (thunderbolt) to ethernet adapter? (no driver needed) Posted: 17 Oct 2017 01:14 PM PDT So I just upgraded to the latest MBP which just has the USB C ports and I can no longer use my Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, which always worked no problem on all my Macs. But yeah, no thunderbolt port now, and a USB C to Thunderbolt adaptor from Apple is double the price of the ethernet adaptor. (And for some reason Apple doesn't sell a USB C to ethernet adaptor...) I bought the 3 USB ports + ethernet hub from ANKER, which the USB ports work, but the ethernet kinda sometimes works, sometimes not, and the driver they offer makes the computer crash. Sooo, has anyone found a reliable and clean design USB C port to gigabit ethernet adaptor that works every time without drivers on Macs? Everything I see on Amazon has very mixed reviews.
