    Rant: 2021 Controller

It literally makes no sense that Apple removed the gyroscope on the new Siri Remote, 90% on the games on the Apple TV AppStore use the gyroscope and that makes the new controller useless 😡

iTunes Extras on Samsung Smart TV App

    Posted: 03 May 2022 08:18 PM PDT

    Hi,

I recently bought an anime movie on Apple TV and it has the dub version as the main movie and the sub version as an "iTunes Extra". There is no issue to switch to the sub version on my iPhone and on Windows, but on the Apple TV app on my Samsung smart TV, there is no option to switch to the sub version. I can only watch the dub.

I don't really like the dubbed version and will only be watching the sub, so how can I switch to the subbed version on my TV?

    Dolby vision setup

    Posted: 04 May 2022 01:12 AM PDT

Hi all. I know 4k SDR should be the default video setup. However when set in DV with dynamic range and resolution adapted to content my TV switches according to the video played btw DV, HDR or SDR.

So do I have to assume if i set the video in DV i'll have the correct image displayed according to the sources ? Or an ATV processing remains and definitely I have to set 4k SDR ?

TvOS really needs to up it’s UI game. From couple of months now I’m noticing strange behaviors on some elements or sometimes they’re completely broken like this one.

Should I calibrate my Sony tv to specific settings before using the Apple tv?

    Posted: 03 May 2022 10:04 PM PDT

I just got an 8k hdmi cord for my Apple TV. Started up a movie and it looked kinda fuzzy (I might have just been extra critical since I want it to look perfect).

It got me thinking, should I calibrate my Sony tv to specific setting on its own to get the most out of the Apple TV? Would love to know if anyone has seen better picture with messing with a tv's calibrating settings then using the Apple TV!

eARC sound going out problem largely solved with fiber optic HTMI cable and restart both TV and AppleTV

    Posted: 03 May 2022 08:35 PM PDT

I posted about my eARC sound keeps going out problem with my Hisense U8G:

    https://reddit.com/r/appletv/comments/tzl5hh/earc_sound_keeps_going_out_and_had_to_switch_tv/

I bought a new HTMI cable that's known to work. It worked better but still sound goes out eventually. Then I got a fiber optic HTMI cable and same problem.

But once I restarted both the TV and AppleTV, it's working fine. I don't know which end is the problem.
