mp3 audiobooks & Apple Books (or other app)?

Hi,

Only just recently I've discovered a way to upload books bought outside Apple/Amazon (epub) into Apple Books, and love it. All of a sudden I have all my ebooks in Apple Books, with synced progress, and can it read them on my Mac, iPad or iPhone...

Here comes another challenge - audiobooks or audio programs I've bought, that I'd like to be able to listen to and sync progress across my devices... Seeing Apple Books has "audiobooks" section, I thought it would be perfect - if it worked just as it does for epubs. Unfortunately, it's not that easy to say the least.

How do you work with audiobooks in mp3 format?

How (if) do you add it to Apple Books?

Does it sync across your devices?

If possible, I prefer avoiding 3rd party apps, but if there's one that would be perfect for this use case - I'd be more than happy to learn about it

How do I reverse apple kexts without IDA pro?

the only tool I could find is https://github.com/0x36/ghidra_kernelcache and it does not symbolize most C++ classes. every research paper or article on reversing apple kernel extensions has been done with Ida Pro 7+ with custom extensions and I can't afford it.

Keyboard long press for umlaut characters with some apps gone with MacOS update

Can't recall when exactly it happened but currently i'm not able to type umlauts (äöü) in some apps anymore by long pressing the keys on an english keyboard. There is a workaround by pressing Opt+U+[aou], but i got so used to the long press way, would prefer to have that back. Is there a way to enable this globally again?

Example apps where is does not work:

Chrome
Telegram
Atom
Notes
iTerm

Apps where it still works:

Numbers
Safari
Terminal

It's also confusing that even with MacOS native apps like Notes it's gone. Or is this a bug?

Help reinstalling macOS Monterey

MacBook Air M1 2020 1 week old. On startup an error box popped up. When I searched the error all the advice said to erase the disk and reinstall Monterey. Erased the disk fine, but now when trying to reinstall Monterey it will start, says it has 2 hrs 58 mins remaining and after around 10 mins an error box pops up saying "The operation couldn't be completed. (PKDownloadError error 8.)" Any ideas or help? Thank you!
