TIL older gen iPhone chargers will NOT harm your new gen iPhone. Posted: 17 Mar 2022 03:47 PM PDT AT&T guy told me older gen chargers (5W) would harm my iPhone 13 battery over time. Apple live support support (and the internet in general) told me that they won't. Therefore, for those wondering the same, you're fine to use the old one - it'll just charge a little slower. What will be the role of the iPhone when the age of AR/VR comes? Posted: 17 Mar 2022 07:07 PM PDT Ming Chi Kuo predicts the iPhone will be obsolete by 2032. Meta, HTC, and others are quickly developing VR headsets so it makes sense that in 10 years they will be significantly more advanced than what they are today. Where does that leave the iPhone? What functions that an iPhone performs that a VR headset could not replace? FaceTime? Alarm Clock? Point and shoot camera? Perhaps by 2032 the iPhone will be a glorified Camera that exists to supplement the AR/VR devices. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Extended dynamic range on 13 Pro? Posted: 17 Mar 2022 02:18 AM PDT When XS came out, extended dynamic range was only limited to 30fps. Is is the same with with 13 Pro series or been expanded to 60fps? Also does 1080 or 4K make a difference in EDR? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Mar 2022 08:31 AM PDT so that the ipad air got the m1 chip i believe the iphone 14 (or at least 15 or 16) gets the m1 chip (perhaps together with usb-c or thunderbolt) too. perhaps for 8k video (recording/editing), vr/ar… i know it's gonna be overkilled, but in my opinion the ipad air now is too overkilled. what's your opinion? what do you think? Thought this was not possible. How are criminals unblocking stolen iPhones in Bogota, Colombia? Posted: 15 Mar 2022 03:11 PM PDT I thought unblocking a newer iPhone model was not possible, after watching this story in one of the biggest colombian news broadcasters I was left with my mouth open. This is taken from Noticias Caracol (Caracol news) https://noticias.caracoltv.com/ from some weeks ago in Colombia. The note is in spanish. The gist of it is this: The journalist crew executed a sting operation where they show how easy it is to get someone to unblock a stolen iPhone. The service is offered for almost any model, between them they name an iPhone 12 Pro. Everything is done in just 30 minutes and the cost is $COP90.000 ($US25). They completely unblock or wipe iCloud and cel operator and you can then use any iCloud account and cel operator provider of your choice with the phone. The service is completely guaranteed, it doesn't matter the state of the blocked iPhone or iOS it has. I searched a bit before posting here and didn't found talk about any big holes in the iPhone security, so how the heck is this being done at downtown in Bogota, Colombia? I uploaded the video to Streamable as the original link is from Facebook. Here it is: Here is the original link on Facebook from Caracol news: [link] [comments]
Delete your Deleted photos/videos to free up iCloud back-up space Posted: 15 Mar 2022 02:50 PM PDT I began getting messages that my iphone could not automatically upload recent pictures because my 5GB of free iCloud storage was full. I only had taken 4 photos since last backup. I tried deleting some old photos but this didn't work. I looked and I was only using 2.1GB on iCloud so there was plenty of room. I also have an iPad that shares the same account and was not getting the message. Why were the 2 devices acting differently? Apple support spent an hour trying to convince me everything was correct and I need to buy more storage. We looked in the General settings, storage, it said I had 8 GB of photos on my iPhone. I had chosen to keep the originals so this is what was the true number needed for iCloud backup. That amount seemed way too high and I would have encountered full storage long ago if this was true. After hanging up with them I looked in my Photos app on the iPhone and in the Albums tab, I saw I had 116 deleted pictures and videos. They still get backed up for a time period before they really get deleted. I selected all of them and deleted them for a second time, permanently. That freed 7 GB of space. I'd taken some long videos that I deleted, but they were still being backed-up. No more message about iCloud being full and cannot upload photos. Try deleting the deleted photos and videos if you get that message before buying more space. [link] [comments]
LPT: Your iPhone lets you translate text to speech Posted: 15 Mar 2022 02:46 PM PDT Most text-to-speech apps don't cut it, from the AI voices sounding off or having to pay a monthly fee to use an app's services. Your iPhone can translate for you without having to use another app! Go to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content. Press that and then press and hold any text to use the "Speak" feature. You can even tweak voice settings, speed, word pronunciation, etc. This makes reading easier on your phone since you can highlight sentences and have Siri read them to you and it's all free [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Mar 2022 05:52 PM PDT So it's now been pretty well confirmed that the punch + pill design will only be on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The Pro models are supposed to have the A16 chip and 6GB RAM but the camera bump will remain. The base models (most likely the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max) will still have the notch, the A15 chip and 4GB RAM. Does anyone feel like the base model will be more like an iPhone 13S? Edit: Yes, I know it's a rumor but it's coming from the person that knew about the punch + pill design back in September. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Mar 2022 05:45 PM PDT So, I always thought those apple-suggested passwords would be pretty secure… It turns out not so much. I changed my FB password last week, just to be on the safe side (ironically) and today 3 of my friends got friend requests from me. This time I made up my new password myself. Special characters included this time…. [link] [comments] |
