| Micro SD Card for Macbook Pro 13" 2020/M1 Chip? Posted: 22 Mar 2022 05:41 AM PDT Hey r/applehelp, I am new Mac user, just purchased a brand new MacBook Pro 13" 2020 two weeks ago, and am having difficulty with my micro SD card/SD card reader. The hardware: Macbook Pro 13" 2020 with M1 chip SanDisk 128GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card Platinum™ - UHS-I USB-C/USB 3.2 Gen 1 Memory Card Reader My MacBook will not register the micro SD card nor the reader. I called Apple Support and we walked through a couple steps: starting the MacBook in Safe Mode, restarting the computer a few times, and checking all the boxes in Finder -> Preferences, to no avail. The Apple Support person did tell me that this brand of micro SD card may not be compatible with the M1 chip, and I looked online and I can't seem to find a micro SD card that definitively does work with the M1 chip. Disclaimer: my Windows PC is able to read the micro SD card with this card reader, which leads me to believe that it's the Mac and not the card/reader. But maybe there's something to incompatibility with the M1 chip? | App camera and microphone permissions gone and inaccessible Posted: 22 Mar 2022 06:35 AM PDT My phone must have auto updated just yesterday because today none of the apps that previously had permissions to use the camera and microphone can use them today. Like Instagram and tiktok. And I can't figure out how to give permissions back. When I go to the app specific settings page there's no option for camera and mic and when I go to privacy > camera/mic it says the app clips have to be requested but there's nothing there. Even the pop up prompts on the phone seem wrong because they tell me to go to certain settings but there's nothing there I can change for app access. So right now a can't use the recording or photo features on any apps and can't figure out how to get access. Any idea what's going on? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2022 06:34 AM PDT Greetings! I am having issues downloading files from Chrome on my macbook. I have the "ask where to save each file before downloading" option enabled. I am running the lateste version of Chrome, official build for arm64. When I try to download a file, usually a finder window pops up and I click on save and the file downloads. However, after some time, the downloads just do not happen. I try downloading, nothing pops up, no finder window, nothing. I just see a number in a circle superimposed on the Chrome icon. Only when I quit chrome and relaunch it, the download function works normally. This issue also prevents me from using cmd+p to save as PDF function as well. Apart from Chrome, I use slack, when I need to upload any file to slack, I cannot open the finder window from slack to navigate to the folder where the required file is. I need to quit slack and relaunch it for it to work properly. I have tried reinstalling the OS, migrated from a intel macbook recently and the issue followed me to the new device. I'd like to change my sons "adult Apple ID account" to a "child account" & possibly fix Family Sharing. When I got iPhones for us 2-3 years ago, we all created our Apple IDs. However, I inflated my sons birthday, he's currently 12 years old but I entered 1980 something as birthday. Currently our Family Sharing is: - (Me - Organizer - (Wife) - Parent/Guardian - (Son) - Adult - Need to change to child He had a very old iPad & the original iPhone SE. But after I take them out and revert to the internal speakers, then return to the AirPods, something goes wrong. | iPhone suddenly stuck at 0% battery bootloop Posted: 22 Mar 2022 05:06 AM PDT I was using my iphone and I believe it was at 4% battery, then suddenly it restarted showing no battery percentage and when i plug the charger it says 0% remaining not charging at all and keeps restarting every 5 minutes, it also says "Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple Battery". I would also like to add this nothing like this happend before for the past year of using it and I didn't take it to a repair store (I'm not sure about the previous owner); so this battery was considered genuine for the past year then suddenly it isn't. Their engineers and technicians both say that it's something I just have to live with (phone is under warranty). My friends phone (exactly the same phone) doesn't do this. Have anyone had a similar issue? (I know about the small "dots"). It's only when there's a lot of light and it's "concentrated" btw. In the picture, the reflection is the building behind the light, and the phone then rotated that reflection…. For some stupid reason, before wiping my hand with a tissue, I saw a hair on my speaker grills and I instinctively wiped it away. I'm worried that some of the semen could have gotten inside the macbook through the grills and damaged the components inside. Ik that when it drys up it's sort of jelly like and I'm scared that could have damaged the internal components. I'm so sorry for such a weird question please don't judge ik it's unlikely that it could have gone in, but my ocd is not letting me forget it. | iPhone Location Status Bar Icon Persists After Disabling All System Location Services Posted: 22 Mar 2022 04:54 AM PDT iOS 15.4 Disabled all system location services Disabled Find My Disabled sharing location Reset location and privacy and re-disabled all location services The status bar icon arrow still appears unless I toggle off location services completely. Every time it shows up and I try to go check, there is nothing in the settings that show what recently pinged my location. It pops up when I unlock my phone, switch apps, or on its own appearing and disappearing while I just stare it from my Home Screen. IT'S TAUNTING ME! This all started happening after I started experimenting with location services, Find My, and leaving Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on for a couple of days when before I kept all of that stuff off except for location permissions for a select few apps. I've never had this issue until now. What the hell is happening? What's pinging my location? How do I stop it? However if I forget to manually back up my phone, I eventually get a notification telling me the phone has yet to back up in 2 weeks or more. Is there any way to fix this? | Why are my iOS Photos missing? Posted: 22 Mar 2022 12:13 AM PDT I just checked my phone for some of the old photos and I noticed half of my original photos from using my iPhone are gone. It's some of the first ones. It was a bunch of wallpapers and a few photos. But they have disappeared. It just skips a bunch of photos like Apple picked three photos from the last ten years and said "Ah, that's good enough for you." Is there anything I can do about this?
