Devices: My iPhone 13 pro max (15.3, Verizon with carrier firmware 49) and my wife's iPhone 13 (15.2.1, same carrier firmware). Both are new within the last few weeks, and both had content restored via iCloud during the changeover. Issue: On both phones when making a call, the person on the other end can hear us without issue, but the audio is constantly dropping out for us to the point where we can't make a phone call. As far as I can tell, this isn't a hardware issue. If I make a call via slack or discord or zoom, it works fine. If I play a video or Hulu, it works fine. This is only an issue when making a standard phone call, and it affects both regular and speaker phone, and also has the issue when I'm using my Airpods. Apple was able to run both hardware and cellular diagnostics on the device and both came back with no issues. I also don't believe this is a service issue. We can actually see the tower from my house (clear line of sight) and we have max bars throughout the house. We previously had an XS Max and an 11, and neither had any service issues in the same location. Here's what I've tried so far with no changes:
We also did a test where I used her phone to call mine and leave a voicemail. On her side, the audio saying to leave a message for the phone number was heavily distorted. The message I left was just reciting the ABC's at a consistent rate to make it easy to see any issues. When I checked the voicemail on the phone, only ~5 out of 26 letters were audible. Like, audio starts 15-20 seconds later and pitch is too low. And info under the video shows that video was recorded with 14,62 fps! Some of the videos have 12 fps, some 25. There are a few premium apps that I like, and after setting up my CC in the Wallet, and adding it to Payment & Shipping, I can't seem to purchase apps. I've already called my CC company and verified that I am allowing it to be used in the Wallet. When I click on the app, or the price, I double click the power button, and do the face ID thing, and it seems like it starts to download, then just blinks and goes back to showing the price. I've removed my card, re-added it, restarted the phone, confirmed login credentials, etc. Just not getting any errors to even give me a direction to look. Any ideas? [link] [comments] | ||

Hey all, I just switched from T-Mobile to Verizon yesterday (please no carrier wars here) on my families two iPhone 13's. What I noticed was that when I hold them next to each other one has steady strong 5G and the other shows LTE and swaps to 5g then back. They are both set to 5g auto and both are using ESIM. I have restarted the phone multiple times with no affect. Do y'all think this is a hardware issue? | iPhone XS Max screen not working Posted: 07 Feb 2022 06:40 AM PST I started getting ghost tapping effect on my screen yesterday, I turned my phone off an on again quite a few times because I thought it was just bugging out. The screen then stopped responding to my touch all together after about an hour or two.... Aside from tap to wake. Tap to wake function works pretty much every time in pretty much every location of the screen. I put the phone into DFU/recovery mode and connected it to my computer and did an update to 15.3 which is where I think the screen stopped working fully as I'm pretty sure I was fighting the ghost tapping to try put my pin in to update on the phone itself. I don't have apple music, just the regular music app. On some of my songs, I can long press to fast forward and some songs I can't and I can't figure out why. I know I can drag my slider but when I'm driving I don't want to do that, but my car has controls on the wheel. I'd say about 75% of my songs I can fast forward. For a little while it seemed like it doesn't work if I go back to that song to listen to it, but today one song worked and another song didn't. Just realized though that when I use them the icon for the playback remains as a speaker instead of turning into headphones. Guess my question is 1. How damaging is this for the earbuds and my ears? | Posted: 06 Feb 2022 09:31 PM PST The other day while working out, I was not paying attention, and accidentally dropped a dumbbell right next to my phone, which ended up bouncing onto the phone, cracking the back screen and slightly bending the frame. The phone rebooted itself, however seemed to be working completely fine, besides the fact that power button was lodged in place. However, later in the night, my phone died. As I went to charge it, it began booting up, but put itself into recovery/dfu mode. Here lies my issue: I have never backed up this phone (I know, I know), but have thousands of pictures and lots of important stuff on this phone. I have already received a replacement phone, so I am only trying to revive the phone long enough to extract my data from the device. My question is what could be causing the phone to force itself into recovery mode, and is there anything I could do to repair it. My first guess was potentially a short within the motherboard or the camera component (as this seems to be the part of the phone to take most of the impact), or a loose battery or charging port connection. The Move to IOS app fails every time. I have reset the iPhone a few times during my attempts and I just realized I deleted a bunch of new texts he got in throughout the day. Normally, I would be like oops its just texts, not the end of the world, however- today is the anniversary of my sister's passing, so they were all probably meaningful messages and I am beside myself that I have lost them for him.
