| Why does my audio change even though I have spatial audio turned off Posted: 10 Feb 2022 05:11 PM PST So I have my spatial audio turned off for my air pods but it still changes the audio when I turn my head left or right how do I fix this I don't like the spatial audio because I have to keep my phone in front of me to keep the audio normal. Also I have tried the mono audio and I don't like that either it's just too much and I can hardly hear the lyrics over the double instrumental. I just was to listen to it like normal. | Is all of my data seriously gone because the digitizer went haywire? Posted: 10 Feb 2022 06:19 PM PST My display broke. Old phone. Got new one. Old phone wasn't synced with cloud because of privacy concerns and because I could always get my data by syncing through my computer or ad hocing to a new phone. It's how I've done it in the past. Never dealt with a broken display, though, and so I was effectively locked out of my data because I couldn't even give permission to access its contents on a computer its been synced up with a hundred times before. Replacing the screen was an annoying workaround for something that shouldn't be so incredibly difficult to access, but it was a simple enough repair. But now, while I'm holding the replacement display and wondering if I should attempt the repair myself, I'm seeing a faint message show up on the old and cracked display. "Phone is disabled, sync with iTunes." I look up that message. I'm seeing a bunch of complaints about data being lost, and that because my broken digitizer kept repeatedly failing to access my phone, iOS locked the phone down and now I have to restore it from a backup I don't have. So I gotta wonder, is this for real? And if it is, how is it even legal to brick a device for failed login attempts? Maybe it stops a petty thief from brute forcing into your phone, but what if you butt dial the thing? What if your kid gets a hold of it? What if someone wants to brick your phone and so they punch in a bunch of junk codes until it locks down? And let's say the theft thing really is important enough to implement a solution that will inappropriately destroy your data in 99% of cases: there are still far less invasive measures that accomplish the same thing that could never be triggered inadvertently. I have no backup of my contacts or messages. The past five years of my life were on that phone's flash drive, and while I'd saved most of the media and pictures and things, there are some really important emotional keepsakes on there that couldn't be simply offloaded onto my computer. I recently got out of a long term relationship, and all of our messages are on there. I don't need to read them, but I liked knowing they were there. And if she tried contacting me in the interim, not saying I think she did, but I would have no way of knowing. Please tell me a grossly inappropriate security measure didn't wipe all of that away. Posted: 10 Feb 2022 04:21 PM PST Hey guys, so I had an iPhone 8 for the last several years until recently getting the 13. After upgrading, I realized there was still a couple random small things I could use the old phone for. However, it was at its storage limit and also getting slow, so I deleted all my photos from it, as they were also stored on iCloud as well as my Macbook. The iPhone 8 only gave me the space I needed when I also deleted everything from recently deleted. A few days later, I realized that all the photos were also gone from my Macbook's Photos, so I checked iCloud, which they were also gone from. I realized that even when I got my new phone and hooked it up to my account and iCloud, my old phone was still synced with iCloud, so when I deleted my photos from my old phone, they were erased from everywhere. I triple checked on both my Macbook photos app and iCloud, as well as both of their recently deleted folders. 10 years of photos and videos just went down the drain because of my stupid mistake. Apple support said they weren't able to recover the data when I called since I cleared the photos from my old iPhone's recently deleted, and all I can think of is restoring a backup of my old phone from like 2 years ago and just losing recent photos. When the iphone 12 comes out they had an offer if you gave your old iphone in return. So i wanted to get the new iphone and contacted this seller who did the whole process for me. Long story short he gave me the iphone 12 without me giving him the iphone 11, he called me and asked for the IMEI number to register it as delivered since the 28 day period for me to turn it in was about to expire (he was always unavailable to meet up, trust me I called him every single day, never heard from him again.) I even went to ATT and explained the situation but they told me that those kind of things had to be through the seller so they couldn't help me. So now it's been almost a year, i got my credit and im afraid to sell the old iphone that i've used to see if it gets blacklisted but nothing. Any thoughts on what i should do? [link] [comments] | ||

I have an Iphone SE2020 running IOS 15 which until very recently worked perfectly. For the last 2 days my phone has started getting very hot on the back, specifically around the rear camera. it also loses charge incredibly fast, and when not in use it will repeatedly restart itself. i have had this phone for around 2 years now and have dropped it a couple of times which may be the cause but i really cant be sure, any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks :) [link] [comments] | ||

We both tried using AirDrop and the feature won't work on either of our devices. We can see each other in AirDrop, can send a file to each other, but the prompt to accept the file never appears. We've tried setting it to "everyone" and "contacts only", but it didn't work. Also we're connected to the same WiFi at home. Also tried sending just one photo to make sure it's not a file size issue. Is there any way that I can decrypt the backup using some software and then transfer the data into my android device or Google drive. His phone's contacts app shows every possible field for all contacts, even empty ones. Posted: 10 Feb 2022 01:02 PM PST Hi, the charging port on my phone 6s is kind of loose and it wont reliably charge anymore, so I was hoping to use my old iphone 6 instead and transfer all of my stuff. But, it keeps telling me that the backup from the 6s isn't compatible, probably because the 6s is running 15.3.1 and the 6 cannot be updated past 12.5.5. Is there any way to get around this? | Do you want to download the last compatible version? Posted: 10 Feb 2022 09:01 AM PST So I do have an older iPhone, iPhone 5. I guess they're updating apps to versions no longer compatible with my older phone. Some of the apps have updates available, but if I try to update, it says "Do you want to download the last compatible version?" Which sounds great, so I hit "Download" and it just shows me the same thing again? "Do you want to download the last compatible version?" Is there some trick to get it to do the thing that it says it's going to do? I would love to have the last compatible version. This came up because of the Quest 2. I paired the Quest 1 with the Oculus app on this phone, I guess two years ago. Now the Quest 2 won't pair, maybe the app is too old because it predates the Quest 2. It's on version 29.0 but the Updates says they're up to version 93.0. As long as the "last compatible version" has the Quest 2 added, I'm good, but I can't figure out how to get that. EDIT: Would it be safe to delete the app and reinstall or would that just mean I can never reinstall? EDIT2: I tested deleting and reinstalling with another app that I didn't care about, and it does download that one, whatever is the "last compatible version." So I guess I'll try that. I just upgraded to the newest iPhone and am on iOS 15.3.1. I've found recently that, when I have my Macbook open (where I'm signed into iMessage), my text notifications on my actual phone are silenced. This also seems to affect Facetime and calls as well. I've tested it so far by receiving messages with the Macbook open and on (no notifications when locked) and then by closing the Macbook and trying again (notifications resume with text tone, display light up, etc). But the screen turns blueish when viewed off axis - even from a small angle. I know it's an OLED thing, but my wife's 12 doesn't do it as much. Got it on eBay - private seller - so can't ask for a replacement or return it. Would the apple store replace the screen or swap it for a new phone? The store I booked an appointment at seems to offer screen replacements, the website says, but I wonder if that's only the glass when you break the screen or the OLED panel too. I'd need the latter. I'd personally prefer a screen replacement - hoping the new one is better.. - rather than starting the swapping game (and possibly end up with a worse screen and a serial on the box that doesn't match the serial of the phone).
