| Posted: 04 Feb 2022 04:12 AM PST As you know, tvOS 15.0- 15.2 were having an issue where some content from several apps would start in very low quality forcing you to restart it several time until it finally showed up in maximum quality (my Apple TV is hardwired, and I have a 300/300 fiber connection). I was still having this issue with tvOS 15.3 on some apps/content, and called Apple about it. They called me back today, and said to try to disable all the analytics of the apple tv. Settings/General/Privacy: Sharing Apple TV data with developers: off. Improve Siri dictation: Off. Problem solved for me. Give it a try. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 03 Feb 2022 11:14 PM PST My family uses profiles on the Apple TV , so we can all have our shows on Our own Up Next page. If I ask my HomePod to resume a movie or episode of a show I'm watching the tv turns on and starts playing that show right away however it's on the profile of another family member so my show goes on their up next in their Apple TV app. I wish with voice recognition it would automatically go to my profile and start playing. Minor inconvenience I know, but would be fantastic for our setup. I know a lot of people usually just have one profile on their Apple TV for the household but we like having separate ones for Apple originals, games, and of course the up next page doesn't get cluttered with each other's shows. | Posted: 04 Feb 2022 03:47 AM PST Just got the new ATV 4k a few weeks ago and when i want to watch DV content on netflix, disney etc the Tvs picture mode dont turn to Dolby vision as it did when i used the Apps from the tv directly before i got the ATV My settings are 4k SDR with match content and framerate. There are also no dolby Vision settings anywhere on the ATV that i can find. Tv is connected to an AVR with hdmi arc ATV connected to AVR AVR is HDCP 2.2/2.3 Should i maybe connect the ATV to my TV using one of the other Hdmi ports? TV is an LG A1 OLED [link] [comments] | ||

But now after using the Apple TV app on my Fire TV Stick, I want to buy an Apple TV because the experience is so good. | Do you need an AppleId account? Posted: 03 Feb 2022 09:29 PM PST Years ago I TRIED to setup an AppleId account to rent movies. I bought one of those Apple cash cards but could not enter the code into my AppleTV3, it needed an AppleId. Back then, you could not create an AppleId online. Strangely, the AppleTV 3 was not capable to create a new AppleId, only login using an existing one. You had to have a Mac, an iPhone or iTunes to create one for the first time. So I tried iTunes on Windows. It would not complete the creation process. I tried on multiple windows pc and all failed the same way. Now I'm looking at getting an atv4k and I'm almost certain I need an AppleId account. Can you create an AppleId right on the atv4k or online or Is it still a vendor lock-in shit show? | New Airpods Pro and issues with spatial audio on first gen AppleTV 4K Posted: 03 Feb 2022 10:36 AM PST Picked up a pair of Airpods Pro a couple weeks ago and am loving them more and more everyday. One if the main reasons I bought them was to connect to my 1st gen AppleTV 4K and listen to content while the family goes to sleep and not disturb them. But more specifically to take advantage of using spatial audio with 4k movies (like Dune for instance). When it works, it's fantastic... but I'm having some significant annoying issues:
Both of these issues seem to be resolvable by either pausing and exiting the movie and coming back in, or sometimes combined with turning spatial audio off and on again. Sometimes these work and sometimes these don't. My question is... is there a difference between these issues with the 1st and 2nd gen AppleTV 4K's? I'm not a 100% on this, but the issues seem to me to be related to the box just not having the processing power to keep up with streaming a quality 4k picture along with Dolby Atmos combined with spatial audio sent via bluetooth to my airpods. Using spatial audio seems to introduce some lag when accessing the sidebar and clicking settings on and off... like the box is having trouble keeping up. So, does the upgraded processor in the second gen solve these issues? I've been thinking of upgrading anyway as my downstairs TV is still running off an AppleTV HD and I would just update that TV to the 4K. But the HD is serving that TV's needs just fine and so I probably won't bother unless my issues are actually resolved by moving to the second gen. For reference I'm on the newest 15.3 update and was having the same issues before the update. Have tried power & full reboots and factory resets. Thanks for reading and for any help! | help please - connectivity issues with multiple services Posted: 03 Feb 2022 10:01 AM PST Hi All - my dad recently moved into an assisted living facility and I wanted to make sure he was set up the same way he was at his house: AppleTV connected to TV and all of his apps (youtubeTV, hbo, prime video, Netflix, Hulu) running through the appleTV. I got him set up with Comcast internet, and I believe he's getting wifi speeds (that's how the appleTV is connected) of 200Mbps. Everything seemed to be working fine except on a lot of the apps we're having login problems. Many of the logins attempts give us a connectivity error and say try again later. Is this a problem on our end that I can fix? Something with the network infrastructure where he is? Comcast? Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] | ||
