    Owners of old iPhone models, how do you keep your phone secure after it no longer receives OS and security updates?

    I know that iPhones get OS updates for quite a long time.But I think the models themselves can last even longer. And many people here who are still rocking old models like 6,7 or 8 prove my point. But how do you guys protect your phones? Aren't OS and security updates absolutely necessary?

    Is there a voice recording app that lets me add notes to a specific time period in a recording?

    As the title states...

    For example, I'm recording audio and 10 minutes, while recording, I want to add a note that is associated with that time stamp in the recording, like "This is where John begins talking about X".

    The finished product would of course be the recording, but the ability to see notes that may have been left throughout the recording, and jump to the time stamp associated with that note.

    Options for controlling iOS volume from a Windows and Mac running Spotify

    Is there a way to control my iPad's volume from a Windows OS? What about a Mac OS? All devices have Bluetooth and are on the same LAN. They all have Spotify which helps me control the tracks but Spotify Connect doesn't offer me the ability to control the iOS volume.

    I was looking for a quick way to control the volume on the iPad while on a computer in the other room when I receive calls and not have to pause the music or run over to the iPad. Below is a temporary setup that I have because I won't be able to place the stereo in the computer's room for a while:

    Room A

    • Spotify > Pad > 3.5mm cable > Stereo

    Room B

    • Spotify > Windows Desktop

    Make camera focus automatically in video after tapping to focus?

    Hey Everyone! I have an iPhone 13 Pro and it's been driving me crazy that whenever I tap to focus on something when recording video I can no longer move the camera around and have it auto focus

    I literally have to stop recording and start recording again for the camera to start focusing automatically. Am I missing something? is there no way to make the camera auto focus after tapping the screen?

    Alternative to VLC

    Hi there. I have been watching some videos in VLC on my 13 mini. Video plays completely fine. However my phone runs super hot and battery drains like crazy. Just wondering if anyone could help me with an alternative to vlc in ios. Thanks

    I mean, my settings always go back to "letter" when I only print to "a4" paper. I noticed that this appeared with iOS 15 new printing panel.
    My printers are set on a CUPS server and all have "a4" as the default.

    Can't connect to personal hotspot on iphone 11

    When enabling personal hotspot on my iphone 11, it is visable on other devices, you click on it, enter the password and it just won't connect, no matter which device.

    What's the catch?

    Auto directing when downloading an app

    Am i the only one irritated by the auto directing when you download an app from the app store? Like it will take couple of minutes to download why the hell do you auto swipe to the last page on my iPhone? Is there a way to disable this awful feature?

    On-Device Dictation

    With the release of iOS 14, Apple announced to push on-device dictation. I am now trying to find out which devices and languages support on-device dictation today.

    There is inconsistent information about this provided by Apple. On this support page it says:

    On supported models, general text dictation (for example, composing messages and notes) can be processed on your device in many languages, and no internet connection is required.

    (Supported models are described as iPhone XR and later).

    However, on this other support page it says:

    On iPhone 6s or later, and iPad, you can use dictation without being connected to the Internet. Earlier models of iPhone and iPad require an Internet connection.

    Is on-device dictation now available on "supported models" (iPhone XR and later) or even on the iPhone 6S? Which languages are supported?

    Bonus question:

    If the forceOnDeviceOnlyDictation device management profile restriction is enabled, how do older devices behave that do not support this?

    Grabbing .mp3 files accessible only within a third party app - is it possible?

    Hey y'all!

    So I'm a member of a fan club of a particular artist, and he released a special album available only to us last year. Recently, he finally loaded the songs (previously they were ONLY available on vinyl!!) into a player within his fan club app. There's a native player within the app where you can play the songs, but I want to be able to download them so that I can play them offline - NOT distribute them anywhere! I figure if they're in this app, they've gotta be hosted on the net somewhere… is there a way to get into the back end of an app and dig through code to try to find these files?

    Low Power Mode

    I almost always have low power mode on. When my phone charges over night, I would have a notification in the morning, allowing me to go straight to the battery section of settings and turn it back on right away. After I fully updated my phone, I no longer get this notification. Is there a setting somewhere that would allow me to turn it back on?

    I just switched to IOS from Android, and I was wondering if there is a way to send and receive text via sms from imessage on Mac. I am able to receive new imessages, however whenever I receive sms I do not receive it on the mac app.
