| 2017 Macbook Pro suddenly kernel panics every few minutes Posted: 19 Feb 2022 03:44 AM PST As the title says, my Macbook just started rebooting every few minutes. The error log seems to hint at bad RAM (Kernel trap type=14, page fault). This had never happened before. I have not used any other hardware. The only possible trigger would be using a new power socket a few minutes before the first kernel panic. I'm trying to run EtreCheck to get more information, but the laptop crashes before it can finish. I have tried resetting NVRAM and it didn't fix the issue. Is there anything I can do? Keep in mind that I am on the road and I have limited internet access. EDIT: The Wi-Fi chip seems to be the issue. If I turn Wi-Fi off, no more kernel panics. The trigger might have been when I used my phone as a Wi-Fi access point. The error logs all pointed to AirPort.BrcmNIC. Thank you for your help! I will see what I can do when I'm back home. | Connectivity issues between my MacBook M1 (2020) with Monterrey and my One Plus 5T Posted: 18 Feb 2022 11:45 PM PST Hey /applehelp, I wanted to ask you guys if by any chance someone knows about this issue, that Android phones (probably older models) aren't recognized by MacBooks anymore since the Monterrey update. Before I updated to Monterrey, everything worked fine on Big Sur. I was able to easily transfer data from my One Plus 5T to my MacBook M1 (2020) and back. As soon as I plug in the USB-C cable it charges my phone, but nothing else happens then. And when I click on Android File Transfer it just says "No device found". Posted: 19 Feb 2022 03:25 AM PST The latest iPad mini is my first Apple device and the quality is abysmall when using reddit or other apps that use mp4, gifs or other video formats. For the Appolo app, I have read that this has nothing to do with apps, but everything to do with how Apple loads data chunks from server: this is optimized for load speeds and not for quality. But even after a video loops few times, the quality is poor compared to my other devices. Is there a way to force HQ loads even at the cost of loading speed? [link] [comments] |
| Moving iTunes music onto a hard drive Posted: 19 Feb 2022 03:19 AM PST Hello, I've been hoarding music on iTunes for years now, but my library has got so big that it tends to make my pc/Mac really slow. I've bought an external hard drive for my new MacBook Air, and consolidated my iTunes library onto a usb, to then try to move it into my external harddrive. I believed I'd done it correctly so that my entire iTunes was on my external hard drive, and nothing was on my Mac. However when I unplug my external hard drive all of the songs are still in my iTunes and therefore must be saved to my internal harddrive. How can I send everything to my external harddrive and delete everything from my internal hard drive? Also, how can I make sure that when I download any more songs, they are downloaded into my external hard drive - and into iTunes - rather than in my internal hard drive? [link] [comments] |

However, I have tried to contact Apple support live chat multiple times but I have been unsuccessful each time as I'm always being redirected to a different support page whenever I select the topics where I'm having trouble with. I need to reset my security questions but I can't access my account because apparently Apple doesn't have enough infrmation to identify that it is me. I have my Apple ID email, I have access to that email and I know the password, I even know the phone number linked to that Apple ID and can recieve messages on it, yet I can't verify that it is me. How am I going to reset my security questions then? There is no E-Mail I can contact directly and in my current state I am unable to talk clearly so the Apple Support Phone Number isn't an option either. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Randomly decided to plug it to the charger today and it immediately turned on without even pressing the power button while it was closed. | How to export pics from iCloud in chronological order?! Posted: 19 Feb 2022 12:38 AM PST I have a Windows PC (Lenovo) and an iPhone 11 Pro. When I exported the 7075 pictures from a certain album to my PC, I noticed that they were in a random order. For most albums, like those with pictures of my cats or from holidays I wouldn't care too much (though it is annoying), but for this particular album the chronology really matters. It is full of text and you can't follow if the pictures aren't in the normal order as they appear on my phone. Am I dumb, or is Apple bullying people who don't use a Mac in a very overt and irritating way? TL;DR: Is there any way to export pictures in the correct order from iCloud to a Windows PC other than manually copying them one by one? [link] [comments] |

I have Mint Mobile as my carrier so it has to be unlocked. No place sells them like that. | Posted: 18 Feb 2022 11:56 PM PST Here's the issue… I've kept all my messages on my Macbook since 2020. I got a new phone and I restored from my last iPhone backup. I noticed some messages sent from my computer didn't download with the restore. So I checked >iCloud>Messages from off to on. This removed all the messages from my Macbook since I am signed in via iCloud. In the meantime, I deleted a bunch of messages on my phone thinking "they're saved on my computer". Now, my computer matches the messages on my iPhone. I've tried everything trying to recover the old messages on my computer to no luck. I am so sad because from what I read, they're permanently gone. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? And if they are gone, how do I prevent this from happening again? I like to save them for sentimental reasons. Oh & I use Monterey. [link] [comments] |

We got a phone from an employee who is no longer here. she both changed her icloud password, and we don't know the pin. Her company email was used for the icloud account, and in the past I could just reset this password via the browser. Now when i go to do that it says I need to have access to the phone that I am locked out of... Is there really nothing I can do even when having the phone and email for the icloud account except go to apple? [link] [comments] |

They had a LOT of photos (like 140Gb), organised into albums and, as I understand it, albums are just organisational tags, not folders. We had to remove and re-add her apple account, but once the photos returned, the albums were no longer there. I had hoped that once the photos returned, so would the album designation, but that doesn't appear to the be the case. | My iTunes skips certain songs every time. Posted: 18 Feb 2022 10:50 PM PST I've got a pretty large collection of downloaded digital music that I keep in my iTunes library, and certain songs always get skipped a few minutes into them. It's really annoying as it's impossible for me to hear the whole song uninterrupted without resorting to youtube or something like that. I know iTunes has the files in their entirety because I am able to scroll past the time when a song skips and listen to the remainder just fine. I honestly have no idea why this is happening and did see a few forum questions that were never really resolved in any helpful capacity, so this is my last resort. It's always the same song, and as far as I can tell each song always skips in the same spot, but not the same spot in every song (ie song A always skips at time a, but song B always skips at time b) [link] [comments] |
