Getting a third-party HDMI-USB 3.0 Adaptor to work with a MacBook Pro. Posted: 02 Feb 2022 11:39 AM PST Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before. I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch with a M1, 2020 running Big Sur.) I am a high school teacher and each room of the school has a TV that teachers use to connect to with HDMI cords to show presentations, videos etc. There's only one other staff member with a Mac. After purchasing the mac last year, I bought a HDMI-Usb 3.0 adaptor from a third party so I could connect to the tv's. I found straight away that it didn't work that well, particularly videos running from youtube. I invested in the official Apple adaptor and it works perfectly. However, upon returning from school holidays and some leave at the end of the year, my official apple adaptor appears to have disappeared. Because of supply chain issues and living in a regional community, I won't be able to get a replacement for at least a couple of weeks - but they are also expensive and I still have my thid-party adaptor. The other staff member with a Mac has a third-party adaptor which works for her mac. I borrowed hers, but the same problem shows up for me where no videos work. Mac only boots when plugged in Posted: 02 Feb 2022 11:03 AM PST Hi everyone, I have a problem with my 2017 MBP. When I try to boot it normally, it shows me a folder with a question mark logo inside it. I've tried every single Apple solution that I found on the support site but it doesn't help at all. When I used the diagnostic tool (Holding D while booting) it showed me the error VDH002 which is related to a disk drive problem. I though the computer has a SSD problem but then a noticed that it only happens when the computer isn't plugged in. Once I plug the charger, it only shows me an error message (linked image), and then the PC boots correctly. The PC can only boot correctly and recognize the boot drive while charging... I've also tried to reinstall MacOS but it doesn't change anything. Is there any way to wipe a Macbook without the password? Posted: 02 Feb 2022 12:05 PM PST I sold a 12 inch macbook on eBay (UK) in 2019 right before flying off to the US. The buyer made up some rubbish about it not charging properly, asked for a refund. I obliged, she sent it back. Not being in the country, it was received by my mother-in-law, and it has sat in her house ever since. I came back quite recently and just got the computer today. I know it's been 2 years, but it is locked to the buyer's account. It charges and fires up just fine, but I cannot get into it. Locked out of MacBook Pro Posted: 02 Feb 2022 12:01 PM PST hi, need help!!!! i have a MacBook Pro 2019. Earlier in the day it suddenly started doing a weird thing where all links (like when you click to open into a new webpage etc) became downloads as html. My desktop background pic also disappeared so that it was just a blue screen. Even with these issues the laptop itself was still functional. I had no idea why these problems were happening, so tried to fix them by restarting the computer. Upon restarting I got locked out of my MacBook, even though I knew I was putting in the right password. I then did the password reset (using recovery mode, by pressing command + R). The password would work when I needed it during this process, but it always made me restart to sign in anew again. Whenever I did that, the password that I had just set would not work. Even though it was correct and I just reset it … Sometimes when restarting I get a black opening page with a hard drive logo labelled Mac Hd and an option to choose wifi network under it. When I click on the hard disk it brings me to the login, where my password won't work as explained before. When I try to select a wifi network instead on this black page, it literally won't allow my keyboard to type the wifi password. Well no you can't do anything with it unless u made an apple id. Well fine my sister made an account and it would say that the acc is locked for security reason anyways I forgot what happened but I tried many times with no success. I made a new account myself everything BUT the verification code send to my phone works. It says enter the verification code but the code I get is an apple id code and when I enter it it says I can't use an apple id code. So I'm here like wich code should I use then?? Can anyone help? Apple Pay Online Not Working Posted: 02 Feb 2022 11:49 AM PST When I try to purchase something online, it keeps bringing up the "processing" screen in the bottom of the screen, but then after probably 1 second, completely disappears and doesn't let me complete the order. The website does allow Apple Pay and I have more than enough funds to pay for the purchase in question, so what should I do to fix this? I've reset my phone and updated to 15.3 it still won't fix.
