My wife and I walked the same route side by side but got different distances. Can anyone explain why?

Is this loop a normal thing? This is only my second time charging it. In the first time this didn’t happen.

    One watch, 2 phones

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 06:53 PM PST

I've never seen this question ever asked or addressed. But I would like to find out if I could use my same Apple Watch back and forth in-between 2 different iPhones? Or would I seemingly need two watches as well?

Seeing all those ad from Apple here in Reddit advertising about the cycling fall detection feature and yesterday I fell off my bike and my Apple Watch detected it. I can assure you that it works as advertised.

Apple Watch charging all day - is it bad ?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 03:14 AM PST

    Hello everyone.

I was wondering if the fact that I let my Apple Watch on my night stand charging all day is bad or would affect the battery ?

I'm working at home for a couple of weeks and having the watch on my wrist while working on the computer isn't really great here.

    Thanks

Is there a way to keep apps open longer than 1 Hour ?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 02:14 AM PST

Hey ive owned an Apple Watch SE for about 5 Months now but cant seem to figure out how to keep an app like Clockology open longer than 1 Hour.

I prefer the custom layout of clockology much more and ive seen in old screenshots that there was an option to keep apps open for longer than 1 hour...

    Grrrr. Update problems

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 08:04 PM PST

Hi, I have Apple Watch 3 (cell+GPS, 42mm on Tmobile). I guess it didn't get used a lot during the pandemic and is on an older version of WatchOS (maybe 6.something, i can't really tell since I reset it). The watch was working fine, though, I guess my son didn't pay attention to the updates, probably because they take hours and kids like to use their phones all the time. He got a new phone (13 Pro Max from a 12 Pro Max) and after pairing now it refuses to update due to the infamous "failed to verify ...no internet connection." As you probably know the watch requires an update when you pair it with a new phone. I know this problem is infamous since the internet is littered with people trying to fix this problem. This seems to obviously be a software problem of Apple's (since, you know, there is no problem with my internet connection) and the fact that the updates take hours and require your phone to be nearby the entire time is also insanely idiotic. Or the fact that you can't update the watch on the watch once it's been reset, and can't update it with any other Apple device either. I have tried every stupid trick in the book, reset settings, turned off cellular, reset all settings, hard starts, hard starts in specific order, erase watch, delete VPN, check the time, and I tried at least 5 different phones, including an old SE1, to the same nonsense error. Has anyone else actually fixed this problem? According to the chat, Apple wants $253.70 to fix it (had Applecare, but is expired). So basically, Apple's software problems bricked my watch because it can't update watches that are on older software and now they want me to pay more than the watch is worth to update the software on it? Yeah, no. Has anyone here sent it in for this problem? What did they actually charge you? He was like "it might be free, it might be $253.70" which you know, ain't worth it.

    Photos Synchronization

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 01:51 AM PST

    Hi people!

I have a situation when the IPhone has been totally destroyed and basically after the repair became like a new one.

All data not backed up (mostly photos) seemed to be lost.

However, after a while, it turned out that synchronyzed Watches stored most of the pictures and I can see it in the Watches Photo app.

Is there a way to pull these photos out?

What to do on a new watch?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 09:34 PM PST

I just got a new S5 watch today but I bought it from someone on facebook marketplace, so unfortunately it is not eligible for applecare+, as it was a replacement. That said, does anyone have any recommendations for a good watch case as well as a screen protector? I know not everyone likes cases, especially on watches, but I'd rather have that piece of mind than not. As well, is it true that if I were to go in for a battery replacement, the watch is replaced with a refurbished model or does Apple actually replace the battery?

Onto my actual question, what are some things I should do on a new watch? I know there are some recommended apps that I can download, but what else should I install or change in settings to preserve battery life, especially when AOD can drain battery faster.

My final question is where are some good places to get genuine apple watch bands for a good price or some good fake/replicas? I had my eyes set on the milanese loop but I don't really know if I want to spend $120 just on one band.

Also, since I haven't worn a watch in 7 years, the watch still feels weird on my wrist. How long would you say it takes to get used to the weight? I got the 44mm and is there any "strategy" to get used to it? Like sleep with it overnight or is it just continuous wear?

Battery health 99% after one year!

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 06:14 AM PST

Hi! I have had my Apple Watch SE 23/7 for a little over a year now, and it just dropped to 99% battery health. Each battery is different and you can have more or less luck with yours, but you can also slow down battery degradation yourself. Here are my tips that I've used:

    • Charge between 20-80% (ideally would be to keep the battery as close to 50% all time, but is extremely impractical). This means that I don't really wait for it to fully charge, since it will still reach a whole day. Let's say I charge it up to 80% in morning, I have 40% in evening when plugging it in again. This is also good because the battery charges the fastest up to 80% and then slows down up till 100%.
    • Charge often but for short times, rather than one long charge every so often (again, not so practical to charge more than a few times a day, but the more the better). I like to charge 15-30 min in the morning and 15-45 in the afternoon.
    • Avoid high heat, especially while charging (this comes hand in hand with several shorter charges since it will have time to cool down in between, since charging leads to heat).
    • Using the battery less will make it last longer in terms of battery health as well. Turn off unnecessary things you don't need such as background app refresh for apps you don't use, or using lower screen brightness if possible.
    • When you want to store it for a long time, make sure the battery is as close to 50% as possible before turning it off, and charge back up to 50% if 6 months in storage.

Those tips are truly helpful in the long run if you intend to keep your watch a long time, but the more you try to make you battery not degrade, the more impractical it gets. Keep it simple. Even a little change can mean a big change over time.

How long have you had your watch and what's the battery health at? What charging habits do you follow?

Can the current Overcast watch app play podcasts using the Watch's internal speaker?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 03:25 PM PST

I haven't got my first Apple Watch yet - looking at getting a series 7. Specific use case I'm after is playing podcasts while I go to sleep on the internal speaker of the watch using the podcast app Overcast. I can see older articles explaining how to do it but since then Overcast watch app has been rewritten so was wondering if it was still possible? Thanks!

Workoutdoors: SE or 7? Any difference?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 11:19 PM PST

Would anyone recommend the series 7 over the SE for the Workoutdoors app?

Does the app keep the SEs display on constantly during an activity, or will the display turn off after a few minutes?

Is the 7s bigger screen a noticeable advantage when using Workoutdoors or Gaia or other hiking apps?

    Thanks

    Apple Watch 7 Oleophobic Coating

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 11:20 AM PST

I recently posted here about trying-- and failing-- to get my screen protector to adhere to my watch; I gave up and decided to go without. However, each of the three screen protectors I tried to install required an alcohol wipe of the screen.

I know alcohol wipes are bad for the oleophobic coating, but how much damage would three wipes do? Is my oleophobic coating gone, or just somewhat deteriorated?

Is it still worth buying an Apple Watch SE in 2022?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 02:04 PM PST

    Hi guys.

About to pull the trigger on my first ever Apple Watch and can't wait! I've been leaning towards the SE because of the price and the fact it has pretty much all of the features I would consider essential.

However, with it coming out in 2020 am I being a fool buying an older model for no less than its original price!?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

My Iphone 12 isn't getting TEXT messages notifications sometimes when connected to Iwatch(series 3), updated to latest IOS.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 07:37 AM PST

So, have an Iphone 12(latest IOS) and an Iwatch Series 3, updated as well. I have noticed that sometimes when receiving TEXT messages, my Iwatch will notify me but my phone will NOT make any TEXT alerts(notifications). Hope that makes sense. Be well!

Will Gold SS watch lose the gold color when it's scratched?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2022 06:11 PM PST

Basically, does the gold color flake off or scratch off the stainless steel apple watch? I want to buy the gold one, but i am not going to baby it at all and it's going to see some roughness. The basic stainless steel material can be buffed out, etc. But what about the gold stainless steel surface on an apple watch? Thanks.
