| 15.3 is the best update in a while Posted: 26 Jan 2022 10:20 PM PST I have to say I'm really impressed with this new update. It fixed a number of issues for me using a 1st gen 4K box. The biggest and most wished for fix was the raised black issue causing flickering in Dolby Vision content. Now my blacks look rich even at default settings and the flickering is nowhere to be seen from my testing. They also fixed the slow buffering for AppleTV+ and iTunes content. It used to take 2mins or more to hit 4K quality but now it's either right away or about 20-30 seconds. Finally last fix I noticed that isn't a huge deal but is nice is that adding a song to play next in Apple Music actually works now. Before it would just play whatever was originally next. Very happy with this update and hope moving forward they don't undo the good work of this by accident or something. Kudos to the TvOS team at Apple! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 27 Jan 2022 01:49 AM PST Sometimes I search for a show that hasn't appeared on my Up Next for a while and find that it's ticked as "in up next" but can't find all the shows. For example, i have a show called Guessable? in up next but when I use the Apple TV search it just shows the first two seasons. However when I search on Now TV it shows the first three episodes of season 3. Why is Apple TV not picking those shows up? I'm in UK by the way. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 26 Jan 2022 05:42 PM PST Updated one of our ATV to 15.3 and now HBO Max is borked. Plays audio with no image, or just gets stuck spinning. So, I thought I would just airplay it from my iPhone- but it also won't play that either. Plays fine on the phone and other devices. My husband wants to watch that show and I want to be sure it's available. I think HBO MAX has it but it's expensive and I've read some terrible reviews about the interface. I saw an article saying CBC and Sportsnet would be broadcasting in 5.1 now. I've got an ATV4k gen 2, and NHL Live (Canada) is only playing in stereo on my receiver. Movies play in 5.1, so I'm assuming things are set up properly and it's just that the NHL feeds are stereo. [link] [comments] | ||

| ARC related issue. Help please. Posted: 25 Jan 2022 06:43 PM PST Just upgraded to the newest 4k Apple TV and I'm trying to run a blu-ray player to my HomePods via an ARC connection. Picture comes from a BenQ HT3550 projector. I setup the Audio Output per the instructions. My first test was the dark night rises. Everything worked. Picture and sound were perfect. Next up: The Suicide Squad (2021) but with this I'm only getting picture. No sound. Went back to the dark knight for testing and, even though no issues prior, it's now the same as suicide squad. Picture with no sound. Am I missing something? •Is the ARC option on Apple TV sketchy as it's still in beta? •Could it be the HDMI (amazonbasics 18mb)? •Suicide Squad seems to only have DolbyAtmos sound options. I've read that can cause issues, but it wouldn't explain the dark knight no longer having sound. •In Apple TV audio options, auto return channel changes from ON (ARC) to ON (not available) randomly like it's going in and out. Could explain the lack of audio but why? I'm somewhat new to this, so if anyone has experienced the same issue, I'd appreciate the feedback. [link] [comments] |
