Only one Message notification sound on watch

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 05:12 PM PST

I recently got a hand me down series 3 watch. It's kind of cool although I could live without it. I was eager to have Messages notifications on my watch. On my phone I have about 7 different message alert sounds set for messages from different friends and family members. I was VERY disappointed to find that the watch only has one possible Messages notification sound, and also when you enable Messages notifications on the watch, the phone doesn't make any sound. Those different sounds are very valuable to me, so I had to turn off Message notifications on the watch. Very annoying. I searched the web and it seems like this is the design of the watch and there's no way around it, but I wanted to post here in case anyone had a work around, or just "yeah I hate that too".

    Heart rate alerts

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:34 PM PST

I just picked up an Apple Watch and I'd like to set up the following functionality if possible:

When my heart rate, as monitored by my Garmin chest strap, exceeds 120 BPM I'd like my watch to buzz or alert me somehow.

    I've tried:

    1. Using the built-in high heart rate threshold, but this only seems to work when I'm "inactive" for a time. I want it to buzz no matter what.
    2. Installing the Cardiogram app. The notifications do come up on my phone but they're sporadic. Furthermore, the notifications don't ever hit my watch.

I've been advised to keep my HR under a certain level and I'm desperately looking for a solution that doesn't have me constantly watching my phone or watch.

Activity rings open before I got my Apple Watch.

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 11:22 PM PST

I recently went on my fitness app and saw that there were 2 rings on - 2 weeks before I got my Apple Watch. I'm not sure if this is a cause for concern or common software thing to do? Like is it possible it was a newly returned item? Bought it from Best Buy not sure if that impacts anything? Should I return it? Any help would be appreciated thank you!

    Workout Tracking

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 12:57 PM PST

I mainly train by lifting weights. The wrist band gets in the way during bench and some other movements. Is there a chest strap or arm band that integrates well with apple health or the fitness app?

Which Apple Watch Series design is your favorite?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 09:02 PM PST

Hey folks! Recently, I have been thinking about having an Apple Watch again and as a classic watch design lover, I have to admit that the none of the newest Apple Watch series appeal to me aesthetically. I had AW series 1 stainless steel about 3 years ago and while it was painfully slow, it looked like a normal, elegant watch. But, starting with series 4, these watches started to literally look like a phone wrapped around your wrist, not a watch. So my question is, which series design do you like the most? And, is it a good idea to purchase series 3 stainless steel in 2021? What important features am I going to be missing?

Any hope in finding my dead watch if it’s completely dead?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 08:51 PM PST

I'm very sure I left it on the kitchen table and everyone else in my household says that's the last place they saw it too. But it has disappeared and I'm looking everywhere for it.

I'm pretty sure it's in my house because I knew it was dead the last time I saw it and left it behind on the table. But now it's gone.

Can I use find my watch or is it completely useless with a dead watch?

    Logistics questions

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 04:51 PM PST

I've been thinking about getting an Apple Watch for a while now. I've been holding off because I can't figure out the answers to some questions.

    1. I read an article a while back about mental health features being a focus of a new model, like being able to alert of a panic attack before it happens, and monitor anxiety with heart rate triggered breathing exercises. Would this be specific to the new watch, or an update to the system? And has this already come out?

    2. I'm also keen to get one with Cellular, but I'm a university student who bumps around between the states and the UK. For my phone I switch out sim cards, it's that simple. Would the watch just sync with my phone, or would it be only enabled for Verizon per se?

Thanks in advance if anyone has the answers to these!

Is there a way to use Libby (free library audiobooks) with an Apple Watch? I searched this sub, as of about a year ago there was not; I’m hopeful there is now. Ty!

    Apple Watch S7 vs SE

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 08:04 PM PST

For first time buyers, what are your considerations when deciding whether to purchase an S7 or an SE? Also, do you think or worry about others looking down on you for getting an SE over an S7?

How do you guys use your Apple Watch while using wrist wraps or boxing gloves? Do you use it higher on the forearm? Are the readings still accurate?

How often do new colors get released for the braided solo loop? I really wanted the coral pink and now it’s gone. I don’t love any of the current colors so I’m wondering if they will release new ones anytime in 2022? Any guesses? Thanks!
