Posted: 03 Dec 2021 11:57 AM PST I'd like to share my experiences with owning the new AW7 for a month in hopes that it will help with people who are on the fence about getting one. I was an early adopter of the AW. I owned the first gen and was severely disappointed with the slow responsiveness and the inability to do simple tasks. After waiting it out for a few years, I decided to pull the trigger on the AW3 in hopes that many of the flaws that plagued AW1 had gone and much to my dismay, they did not. Although there was a decent improvement to the overall responsiveness of the Watch, I felt like it was still missing the responsiveness from 3rd party apps that I was craving. Some additional gripes that I can recall were: the screen being too small to type on. Siri taking forever to load. Raise to wake sometimes would take a few attempts. Battery life was subpar. Once the watch met it's final resting day (battery expanded causing the screen to pop off), I decided to take a break fro AWs altogether. After reading the numerous reviews I finally decided to pull the trigger on the AW7. What also helped with my decision was the fact that Costco has a 90-day return policy so i felt less pressure in making sure it was right for me. Holy crap, am I blown away at how much better this watch is! Apps load up quickly. Typing is a breeze. Siri works like a charm. The battery life is still about a day, but a quick 15-minute charge gives it plenty of juice to last several hours. All of my reservations about the AW went away. Some of the things that I'd like to call out as being especially useful (I know these features and apps have been available on earlier models, but just worth a mention): - shortcuts: i use several complications throughout the day. One for work, which highlights my calendar, one for working out, sleep, going out, etc. so, I create automations in shortcuts to automatically change my watch face based on the time and day. It's great stepping on a treadmill and seeing all of my controls right in front of me. - watch faces: so many more choices! And many 3rd party apps offer complications that are actually quite useful!
I guess this is a long winded way of saying, if you don't have an AW or have an AW3 or below, this is the watch to upgrade to. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:52 AM PST CARROT Weather just won Apple Watch App of the Year, and I just wanted to thank everyone here who helped push the watch app to be so much more than just a funny weather app. The people on this sub were the ones who kept asking for more and more complications with different data points to be added to the app, and that's what really set CARROT down the path to being so customizable and having so many pro features. So thank you again. Lots more awesome stuff to come! [link] [comments]

Funny things my AppleWatch asks me to do Posted: 02 Dec 2021 09:58 PM PST
I work on a standing desk at home but AppleWatch will still ask me to stand. Maybe it's because I'm resting my arm on the table?
I think I will be on a whole new level if I could do that lol [link] [comments]

Any way to change how long notifications stay up without pressing the crown? Posted: 03 Dec 2021 08:31 AM PST It's nice to feel the haptic and just look at my wrist, but then notification just stays there for a few minutes, until I press the crown. Is there a setting to make it go back to the watch face shortly after I glance at it without needing some input? EDIT: I'm just asking if there's a way to change it from the 3 or 4 minutes that it stays up to like…. A few seconds before being sent to the Notification Center. [link] [comments]

Heart rate stops reading during workouts Posted: 03 Dec 2021 12:02 PM PST Anyone have this issue: during an intense workout, my HR readings stop for a while, resulting in incomplete readings. I have the strap on tight and otherwise I don't have issues. Have restarted and etc. Apple Watch 6 running latest software. [link] [comments]

How to get haptic alerts for things on Outlook calendar? Posted: 03 Dec 2021 09:41 AM PST I just got my Apple Watch yesterday. The #1 reason for my purchase was because I want to be able to get haptic alerts when I have a call or meeting coming up. And now I can't figure out how to make that feature work. I use Outlook and a MS Exchange Server for all work calendaring purposes. It is not an option for me to have items calendared directly to Apple Calendar. My Outlook calendar default setting results in me receiving a reminder 15 minutes in advance of every scheduled appointment (pop up window and bell). I need to be able to set up my watch so that it syncs with the Exchange Server and gives me a haptic alert at these 15 minute marks. I have synced the Exchange account with the iPhone and can see all my work stuff in Apple Calendar. I have also added the Outlook app to both my iPhone and to my Apple Watch. I do not receive the 15 minute reminders on either device through either program. To try to figure out what the problem is, I determined that I am able to receive haptic reminders for things that are directly added to my Apple Calendar, as well for items on my Google calendar that I view through the Apple Calendar. The problem seems to be unique way in which Apple pulls things from the MS Exchange Server. I imagine this has something to do with the push/pull settings, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Can someone help me out? Thank you! [link] [comments]

S7 locks itself constantly even though I have wrist detection enabled. Posted: 03 Dec 2021 09:01 AM PST Just got my S7 last weekend. I love it, but the wrist detection feature seems to not work: my understanding is that the watch is supposed to stay unlocked if it is on my wrist once it has been unlocked by either the code or by unlocking my iPhone. Well, I have to unlock my watch multiple times every day regardless of which method I used to unlock it the first time that day. I've tried looking for settings that might affect it, rebooting the watch, and googling... so far to no effect. Anyone else having this problem? [link] [comments]
Battery health on series 6, is this normal? Posted: 03 Dec 2021 08:59 AM PST I've had my S6 since May and I can get a good solid day and a half between charges. But, my battery health is already at 95%. Seems pretty excessive when it'd take an iPhone a good couple of years to go down by that much. Is this normal? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
