Posted: 30 Dec 2021 01:51 AM PST Currently my Mac Mini M1 is connected via Wifi and running Steam. To access games / apps on an Apple TV 4K this one is connected through wire to repeater and using steam link app. Connection is good according to steam link but just wondering if I can get an stable better connection when using a) another repeater wired connected to Mac Mini M1 or b) using powerline for Mac ? What's your recommendation? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2021 09:39 PM PST After the most recent software update our volume visual isn't showing up on screen. We have a Sony tv and I have checked their forums but can't find anything useful. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]
Spatial Audio on ATV4K doesn’t sound good… Posted: 29 Dec 2021 07:49 PM PST One of the reasons I went with the AirPod Pro models was for the Spatial Audio feature. Is it just me, or does this feature just sound weird when it's engaged? I was watching movies I own through iTunes via the Apple TV and I toggle the Spatial Audio on, and the dialogue from the actors just had a weird sound…as if a reverb/cave effect is being applied. It doesn't sound right. If I disable spatial, the dialogue sound clearer and doesn't have that reverb effect. Is this other people's experience or is something wrong with my AirPods? I'm just not impressed with what was supposed to give a virtual surround sound effect, and instead just seems to be making everything more reverb from what I can hear. [link] [comments]
Can I use an older gen AppleTV remote with my 4K? Posted: 29 Dec 2021 03:07 PM PST We switched to a brand-new 4K AppleTV for Christmas, and my wife hates the new remote - it's very "clicky ". But I love it! Such an improvement for swiping. I brought the old AppleTV into the bedroom, which is great as now she can pause, go to bed, and resume whatever she was watching. Winning. Anyway, can I buy an older generation AppleTV remote and pair it with my new device - as a secondary control - to keep my wife happy? I don't want to replace the new one, it is so much nicer to my fat fingers and I'm very happy with it. I mean, if it came down to having to choose one or the other I would switch, but I am hoping we can use old and new at the same time. Thanks! [link] [comments]
apple tv box vs. apple tv app question Posted: 29 Dec 2021 08:45 PM PST i got a cheap little tv for christmas and on the home screen of it you can see several apps such as netflix, youtube, amazon prime, and an "apple tv" app. so a few months back i was looking in to buying the Apple Tv box and i'm still considering it but i'd just like to know what the differences are of having the app vs having the actual tv box. thanks [link] [comments]
Question about "casting". Am I just using my ATV wrong? Posted: 29 Dec 2021 07:32 PM PST I understand this is not a chromecast, but why doesn't ATV give me the option to "cast" something from the iPhone using the casting button that every app has built in? Airplay is much less convenient as it doesn't actually open the app that's on my ATV once I switch over to using the ATV interface from my phone. I only want to airplay things that don't have a native ATV app. I wish I could just hit the cast button that every single app has and select my ATV so that it will open and play it on the ATV. Twitch doesn't even give me the option to airplay, which I find odd. So I have to just do everything from my ATV. [link] [comments]
Apple TV 4K 1st Gen with HomePod minis? Posted: 29 Dec 2021 02:50 PM PST Apple say that you can set two stereo HomePod Minis as default speakers for Apple TV 4K - does this include the 1st Gen 4K box?? [link] [comments]
question about using my hisense U8G tv remote with the apple tv. Posted: 29 Dec 2021 01:23 PM PST I was happy to see that it worked witht the apple tv straight out of the box. The only function I don't have is a home button because it takes me to the android tv home, not the apple tv. This is a problem because double clicking the home button is how you close apps that have crashed to reset them. Is there a workaround? I broke my siri remote. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Now Playing lock screen widget - multiple AppleTVs question Posted: 29 Dec 2021 05:03 PM PST I've got 2 AppleTVs - one for the bedroom and one in my living room. On the bedroom one, whenever I start playing it my iPhone lock screen automatically picks up that it's playing and displays the Now Playing widget. But on my living room one the now playing widget doesn't seem to automatically appear. if I go to the remote on the iPhone and select "living room" or go to the Home app and check the status of the living room appleTV (which shows that it's playing) THEN it'll appear on the lock screen. Everything's on the latest OS - the only difference is that the living room AppleTV is the latest model and the bedroom is the previous 4K one. Any particular settings I might be missing or is there a way to specify the default of one over the other? Or is this just the way it is? [link] [comments]

Question about Dolby Atmos from Apple TV on receiver that only supports Dolby Digital Plus Posted: 29 Dec 2021 11:37 AM PST I've been doing extensive research on this and am still having a hard time truly understanding what my receiver is doing. Please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I've been getting back into collecting 4K movies (both disc and digital). I usually buy digital when it's an incredible deal and it's in 4k. I love discs due to them having lossless audio but I've been trying to find out what quality audio my receiver is outputting movies at when purchased from iTunes that support Dolby Atmos. From what I've gathered, Apple uses Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos support. Here's where I get confused as I have an older receiver that DOES NOT support Dolby Atmos, BUT it does support Dolby Digital Plus. Since my receiver supports Dolby Digital Plus, Is my 4K Apple TV streaming the audio from these movies in Dolby Digital Plus in the Bitrates between 384 and 786 that is supported with Dolby Atmos (Found in Dolby website) or is it defaulting to plain Dolby Digital at bitrates between 192-256? Here's my setup: Apple TV 4K (PCM) (HDMI direct to receiver) Sony str dh770 [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2021 11:40 AM PST I have a question about apple tv + if I buy it would I be able to watch south park on it or would I still have to buy the show? [link] [comments] |
