    Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is an LG CX TV issue, or an Apple TV (latest gen 4K) issue, but when watching Dolby Vision content, if a movie or show is going from a dark scene to a light scene sometimes the picture stays incredibly dark in the lighter scene for a short while, and then suddenly increases to the correct brightness. I know there's an auto dimming feature on the TV, and it's disabled. But I don't know anywhere else in any of the settings where I might be able to fix this.

When it comes to 4K HDR, what really is the difference between models?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 11:12 AM PST

"Neither the 2021 or 2017 Apple TV 4K boxes support 120Hz frame rates but the new Apple TV 4K does play HDR content in 4K@60Hz" (from: https://www.whathifi.com/us/advice/new-apple-tv-4k-2021-vs-old-apple-tv-4k-should-you-upgrade)

I mean, when I go into the video settings on my gen 1 4K model, I can select 4K HDR @ 60HZ, just like I can on the gen 2 (I purchased one for comparison). What am I missing?

I'm trying to enable "Play Television Audio" on my Apple TV, but it isn't working because I can't seem to enable the eARC setting on the TV. Any idea why it would be grayed it out? I am using an HDMI 2.1 cable (just bought it today).

I have an Apple TV HD 4th Generation. How big of a change will it be if I buy the newest 4K 2nd generation in terms of gaming?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 07:15 PM PST

I use my Apple TV a lot since buying it in 2017 for movies and gaming since I don't have cable (since I buy it in 2017) and gaming console. Now I'm thinking to upgrade to the newest 4k 2nd generation model.

My question is, will it be a big change in terms of gaming? For example, will there be a lot more games to play? Because I realized that some of the games that is available on the app store are not available on my Apple TV right now.

Will it also have a significant change in quality of gaming in terms of graphics and frames per second?

    ISP/ Cable Company Device Tracking

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 08:04 PM PST

Weird question, but can a former ISP/ cable company track, or 'see' if you're using an Apple TV (4th generation 4K I think) that they initially provided and that was never activated while a subscriber/ customer? A device was lost in shipping for a while and recovered well after the service was cancelled. Asking for a friend :)

Do I really need Apple TV 4K for the LG C1?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 06:51 AM PST

I recently found out about the hate for the new WebOs. Is it really that bad? I had planned to connect a Cat-6 ethernet cable to my C1 to get better connection when using the tv apps. Now I learn that the interface is horrible and the apps might crash or be laggy. (LG C1 just came in so I didn't get to set it and test it out)

I really didn't want to have to dish out around $200 more since I am already buying the 2 year warranty for around the same price. Is getting one a good investment; and is the last generation good enough or do I need the newest one? Or will a Fire TV Stick 4K with the ethernet adapter be good as well? I will mainly use the tv with my PS5, and watching shows/movies; I don't watch live tv at all.

Edit: I got it setup and currently testing it; WebOs is kind of laggy but I'll wait and see. Ordered a used Apple TV 4K (2021) just incase.

Looking for advice on a new receiver (HDMI or optical)

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 10:35 AM PST

Hey all, recently upgraded my tv and now I want to get a new receiver/amp but I'm just wondering about connection options (HDMI vs optical) with an Apple TV 4K.

I'll be buying secondhand with a fairly low budget. It will only be a 2.0 setup and I'd love it to be as simple as possible - only using the ATV remote to turn everything on/off.

    Options are:

    1. Receiver with HDMI - connect the AppleTV directly to the receiver. Do I need one that supports 4K HDR? Or does it pass thru the signal? Also would it need HDMI CEC?
    2. Optical out from TV - I guess the receiver wouldn't turn on with the TV if it was hooked up like this? But it would mean the TV gets direct image signal from the ATV.

    tl;dr HDMI or optical?

Apple TV turns on ads while streaming video via Airplay

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:59 PM PST

Hi guys, I have a problem. My Apple TV 4K turns on built-in ads after 2-3 seconds of video streaming via Airplay. I open a video in a Safari browser, send it through Airplay, the Apple TV sees it, connects, starts showing and then ,after 2-3 seconds of my video, the Apple TV turns on in-built ads, often it's a trailers of the upcoming movies. I can't find solution to this problem yet, maybe some of you faced something like this.

My IPhone and Apple TV updated to the latest versions of their OS.

    Thank you!

Is my Apple TV broken or is this just the worst streaming app on the market?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2021 03:13 PM PST

I've been using Apple TV for the past month and so far I have had nothing but a terrible experience.

There is no search bar, no 'add to favourites' list, no 'Continue where you left off' bar. I have to manually scroll through the categories and find the show I've been watching for the past month every time I go on the site.

As a user I am not having an experience that I feel is worth the money I'm paying. I am using Apple TV on Google Chrome on my Mac by the way.
