| Airplay from iPhone to Apple TV not working. Posted: 09 Dec 2021 12:22 PM PST Controlling the Apple Music app on my Apple TV 4K (1st gen) has always worked perfectly, until now. Suddenly it's not working at all. I start playing a song in Music on my phone, tap the airplay symbol -> control other speakers and TVs, and tap my ATV name. It says connecting for 10 seconds before I get a message saying "unable to connect to <ATV name>". I've never had any issues until now. Both devices are connected to the same network (ATV is wired), both have the latest updates installed, everything else works fine. Anyone have any tips on fixing this? [link] [comments] | ||

I finally pushed the blue "upgrade" oval in the reminders app on all three but it just gets stuck and hangs with the spinning circle where the "upgrade" oval used to be. How can I force the upgrade to go through and get my reminders working again? I already unchecked and rechecked iCloud reminders to try and force sync, did soft reset, etc. No dice. | Erasing data on old trade-in 11 Pro initiated a full erasure of new 13 Pro Posted: 09 Dec 2021 11:09 AM PST Recieved my new 13 Pro last week and transferred all of my apps/photos/data from my old 11 Pro pretty seamlessly and efficiently. Today, I was going through the process on the old 11 Pro to erase it to factory defaults and remove it from my iCloud account and once it completed that process, without even touching my 13 Pro, it began completely erasing itself as well. When it started back up, I was prompted to enter my Apple ID to restore from the last icloud backup which apparently wasn't since 10/19/21. I looked at my settings after the "backup" and iCloud backup is enabled so I'm really frustrated as to why it hasn't bothered to back itself up since 10/19 and why it even decided to erase itself in the first place. Any suggestions as to how to recover what was on it between 10/19 and now? Just lost a lot of important photos from a trip to Nepal that I was on during that time. | Screen Time restriction passcode Posted: 09 Dec 2021 10:17 AM PST Hey. I need some help and would really appreciate any help/answers you might have. I recently decided that I'm dissatisfied with my daily and weekly screen time and wanted to restrict my screen time on certain apps in hopes of restricting the overall usage, so I went into settings to fix it, but it required a passcode that I don't even remember installing. I tried a few that seemed possible, but none were correct. I've tried to reset the code and possibly remove it, and every google search has told me that there's supposed to be a button for that under the limit content/integrity (or something like that) button, but there isn't one for that on my iPhone or iPad (the screen time is connected and shared between the two). I have restarted the settings app twice, restarted the phone entirely, I even switched languages to see if it'd trick my phone to work again. My phone and iPad still counts my failed attempts and I no longer dare type in new guesses in fear of making my phone shut down or something. | Posted: 09 Dec 2021 09:41 AM PST There are a couple old forums I use in a daily basis where the HTML for links have to be manually typed, there is no js on the page to handle it. This is a huge pain in the ass with iOS/iPadOS that I have kind of half-assedly solved with some keyboard shortcuts, but this is exactly the sort of thing browser extensions, which Safari now supports, are made for. I have, however, thus far been able to find one that does this. Simply put, I want Safari to give me the option of adding HTML markup to a text box. Similar to what Apollo does for Reddit (that's what I used for the example below) but for Safari and HTML instead of Reddit and Reddit Markup. Basically I want a pop up that looks something like this: https://i.imgur.com/eUzpCoV.jpg ...that will generate this text in the text box from which it was opened: Bonus would be for other markup like Bold, Italics, etc, but what I really need is links. When I hold it down it just says edit home screen or share bookmark. When I click on it it brings up a blank page with an option to call the phone number listed. Any help I'd appreciated. | iOS 15.1.1 — Is anyone else's Face ID and flashlight REALLY slow to activate? Posted: 09 Dec 2021 07:37 AM PST I feel like this must be a software bug, but it's maddening. When unlocking my iPhone 12 Pro Max, Face ID simply does not work nor does my flashlight. Maybe after 5 seconds it works, same with flashlight. Seems the longer I have the phone open, the less likely it will work, after a while it just seems to stop working. Camera often is black screen too when first unlocking phone. A fresh restart makes all of these problems go away but it's so damn annoying because I have to type in my long ass passcode every time! [link] [comments] | ||

At least there should be an option to manually turn it on. I don't know about the performance impact but this sure does eat up a significant amount of battery. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 09 Dec 2021 06:33 AM PST My job requires me to occasionally type a lot of odd words or not-real words, which constantly get auto-corrected to other things until my keyboard learns them. This causes issues, however, as all those learned terms then pop up in predictive text or are sometimes used instead of normal words when I'm not working. I end up clearing my keyboard dictionary several times a week, which is frustrating because the turns of phrase I actually want the keyboard to remember are also deleted. What is the best solution for this? I don't want to turn off autocorrect/predictive text entirely if I can help it, but I really don't want my phone learning words while I'm working. Edit: Alternatively, any way to disable particular keyboard functions/settings while using a specific app would be great, too. Thanks! [link] [comments] | ||
| Magic Keyboard fails when Multi-Tasking (Slide-Over Apps) Posted: 09 Dec 2021 05:15 AM PST The Magic Keyboard works flawlessly everywhere else. In fact, when I'm in Multi-Tasking mode, where another window is hovering over my main app, my trackpad on the MK is working just fine, but the keys on the keyboard just stop working. However, when I jump out of multitasking mode, and back into a different app, or if I go into Split Screen (not hovering), then the keyboard seems to come back to life. It's very frustrating. Lastly, I just found out that the keyboard is registering something during hovering mode because when I hold down the cmd key, the mini screen of various shortcut commands pops up…I'm at a loss as to what's going on. Is anyone else experiencing this? Did I accidentally toggle something in Settings or something? [link] [comments] |
