    I made a better, free and open source Spotlight Search for macOS. It is highly inspired by Alfred. You can view the source code here: https://github.com/techrisdev/Snap.

    iMessage question

    My iMessage on Mac seems to have changed its settings. Before I updated it, when I pressed the "Enter" key, the message would send after I typed it out. Now when I press it, it only creates a line break and doesn't send the message. I have to press "Command + Enter" to send. Anyone know how to revert this?

    Hi,

    I'm gonna sell my 2016 T1 Macbook Pro. I've booted it from the recovery partition, erased the main drive and reinstalled macOS. (Monterey). BUT: when it reboots and the main setup starts (as if it were new) the Wifi still connects. This tells me the passwords for the wifi are still in there.

    I've reset the.. something RAM with option+cmd+p+r, but still no luck. So why are the passwords for wifi still in there, how do I delete them now, and what other data could remain?

    Any way to group bookmarks in to folders in safari?

    Is there any way to group my bookmarks in safari, preferably in to folders? I'd like a folder for personal bookmarks and then another set for work bookmarks. Normally when I open a new safari page, it shows all my bookmarks.

    Any workflow suggestions to accomplish this? I've got a new mbp 16"

    AppleScript / Shell script to find non-searchable PDFs

    Hey all,

    I hope this is the correct community for this question... I'm trying to automate PDF OCR'ing in a huge library of files.

    Now, since some of the files already contain searchable text, or are "native" PDFs that are 100% machine-readable, I don't want to waste any resources by processing these.

    Therefore I am wondering if someone has got a solution how I can find PDFs that contain searchable text, or rather, that do not.

    My goal is not to extract any text from the script, but to run the files that have no searchable text in them through an OCR software, that will process them accordingly.

    Since I want to use Hazel for this, the solution can be a ShellScript or an AppleScript...

    Disabling focus mode notification?

    Hey everyone, just a quick question- is there any way to disable the focus mode notification that pops up each time focus mode turns on? I have set my "work" focus mode to turn on when I open certain apps (such as word/excel, for example), which is very helpful and honestly a great addition. It helps me stay focused and automatically silences any distractions I could have when I would otherwise forget to turn it on.

    However, every time I quickly tab out to google something, the focus notification ("Work - on" and "Work - off") will pop up. Its honestly so annoying, yes its a small thing but it really can be distracting. I wish focus mode would just turn off/on in the background without announcing itself when I tab out for a quick second.

    Obviously I could just add my web browser to my list of focus mode apps, but then every time I'm not using that browser for work-related purposes (such as browsing reddit/ watching youtube) ill be silenced from all my notifications.

    Anyone else find this annoying?

    I've been having issues with Safari and Google for a while now. Whenever I search using Google Search or just type in the address bar in Safari nothing shows up. Google also hangs up and sometimes just freezes. Search suggestions also don't appear whenever I'm typing on YouTube. This doesn't happen in Google Chrome.

    Google Suggestions also don't appear when typing on my iPhone and my iPad using Safari (iOS15). Does anyone have a fix?

    Scaling on external QHD Displays

    Hey there,

    I am currently working my way into MacOS and appear to be struggling with the most basic things:

    My MacBook is connected to a Dell 2520 QHD Display via USB C. The video signal works fine and Power Delivery is great, but how the heck do I scale the UI? Text is incredibly small, if I do not zoom in on every single page/app.

    On my windows machine I have this set to 130%, but MacOS does not offer that option? Also, the scaling option is not shown for the external display option, just for the normal in-built screen.

    Was anyone able to solve this?

    Hey guys, so I have a MacBook Pro 2017 and I installed mojave but is way way slower than High Sierra. So my question is should I upgrade from Mojave to Monterey is it going to perform better???

    Mac mini 8gb - games and drawing?

    Hello. Actually i have Air 2020 i3 and it cant run league of legends in 20fps (dont want to try other games because laptop is too hot). I think about getting mac mini for graphic programs like clip studio etc but can it run games in 60fps? I have oled c1 4k. I will have drop to fhd?

    Is there a way that I can get .flv's, .webm's, etc. to play with QuickLook so that I don't have to open a media player?

    As the title says. I found QLVideo which allows Finder to preview video files as static images, but I'm hoping to be able to watch them in full like I can an .mp4.

    Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Tips for navigating Mac OS for a windows user?

    I built a PC and have used windows for 2 years now, but I recently bought the MacBook Air for school as it was surprisingly cheaper (and on sale) than other windows laptops of similar performance. Is there anything I should know to help me use Mac OS as efficiently as I use windows?

    Monterey, iMessage not showing name or number, only icons

    On Monterey 12.0.1. iMessages is not showing the name or phone number on the side. It only shows the contact icon. Any idea on how to fix this?

    I've done: rebooting; sign out of imessages, then icloud, then sign in to icloud, sign in to imessages, rebooted (held option+command+P+R); resync contacts

    iMac password: How do I return to login screen? iMac is not accepting my password anymore after power outage. Wanted to reset it via iCloud but this “Vault” password field comes up.
